No Chod, Neal Smith is the drummer on this, from the original Alice Cooper group. Since Alice's solo career there have been different drummers, but Neal "the octopus" Smith is the original and is responsible for this epic drum led track. The British singer Donovan shares vocals with Alice on this one too. So happy to see your enthusiasm for this track and the band's music. High level musicianship indeed! Great reaction.

@@carolyndavis1045 Right? Donovan was a huge influence on many musicians, he was just off the mainstream radar, will hear this song different from now on, how cool is that?! "Generation Landslide" is the track from this album that ties the whole theme together, once you "get it", it's brilliant, Alice hid his deeply social message right in plain sight, just under the surface of his shock-rock-schlock

Also of note is the special guest Donovan providing the vocals (stereo left). Donovan was sometimes called the UK's answer to Bob Dylan, very folk influenced with touches of psychedelia. To have him alongside AC was sheer brilliance, and this cut is one of the band's highlights for sure. Thanks for the reaction.

Neil Smith. He would call Keith Moon up and ask him how many drums he had. Whatever Keith said. Neil would always have at least one more. Alice tells that story. Great song based off the drum riff.

Just saw Alice Cooper and his new band on September 7, there is video on You Tube, and he is STILL effing amazing. I saw him in 1978 and 1983, and so I was expecting a let down in vocal quality, or something. He looked and sounded as good now as he did the first time I saw him. Different band, but STILL high quality, and lots and lots of props and weird characters running around the stage. And he did play Billion Dollar Babies. As Cosmic Cat points out, that is Neil Smith on the drums, along with Glenn Buxton and Michael Bruce on Guitars and Dennis Dunaway on Bass, and of course Alice Cooper, aka Vincent Damon Furnier, on Vocals.

Alice Cooper Group-“The band to drive a stake through the heart of the peace & love generation” were originally misunderstood & often reviled & band by listeners in their early years.
Who dug them? Fran Zappa was a patron.
    BUT YOU WANT SERIOUS CRAZY?!
Groucho Marx shows up one time & wants to go backstage & meet them-which BLEW their minds LOL!
Groucho LOVED THEM, telling the band they were basically modern vaudeville! Groucho asks can he bring some friends to see them?! Band says YES!!
So a bit later Groucho shows up With MAE WEST, JACK BENNY & other old vaudeville legends…who LOVED THEM!!
Eventually Alice Cooper found their audience in the hardcore Detroit scene before exploding!

Dennis Dunaway, The Bass player frickin' rocks on this album.
Guitarists Glen Buxton and Michael Bruce both used Gibson SGs for the album. Three additional guitarists (including longtime band friend Mick Mashbir and New York-based session musicians Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter) were retained to cover for Buxton, who suffered from alcohol use disorder-related pancreatitis throughout the sessions.
Buxton died of complications from pneumonia at a hospital in Mason City, Iowa, on October 19, 1997, age 49. He had recently spent time visiting and playing music with two of his Alice Cooper bandmates and longtime friends, Michael Bruce and Neal Smith.

This one put him on every players radar back in the day. Been wondering when any reactioner would ever get around to this rock killer. Personal fav from this album. Saw this tour and another “one for the ages,” both tour and song of the same name called, Black Widow. The song was part dialogue by the horror master himself, Vincent Price. This was Coopers’ first experimentation with upping his game and his image into the scarier version of first gen Alice. Lots of stage theatrics to go with the Black Widow Tour. Would love to hear that one soon. 🤘😎

For me, had to see Alice 7 or 8 times including the original band In the early 70s. Always a great and sometimes wild show in the old days but he still has a great band to this very day and still has a killer show, saw him in 2019 with Halestorm, Lzzy Halestorm came out for his encore of Schools Out and they blew the roof off that place. Old men can still Rock! Try The Ballad of Dwight Fry next, one of his very best songs. Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

For my money, and having lived through it personally, that opening 15 seconds before he sings marked the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s. I’ve seen Alice 15-16 times. Always has a tight band, always looks the part most convincingly (for any track he happens to be singing), and he is always the victim in his pranks, stunts and mis-deeds! Many of his songs are quite humorous if you listen carefully. 😎

The song was released on the Billion Dollar Babies album 1973.
It was also later part of the 12 song lineup on Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits album in 1974.
It was the first cassette tape that I ever had, and boy did I wear it out. Every song from Cooper's Greatest Hits was awesome.

The original Alice Cooper band's fourth, and final, album with producer Bob Ezrin. It went to #1 in both the UK & US. Ezrin sprayed a poppier sheen onto the Cooper's tales of terror and torment this time around. Neal Smith is the drummer here, whilst Donovan duets with Alice on this title track. It's utterly fabulous, as is the whole LP. Solo Alice has kept the song in his touring repertoire for decades.
It would be great if you could react to all the album - as you did with *Killer* - but failing that, perhaps dip into one or two more songs. *Elected* & *I Love The Dead* are well worth checking out.

It came with a little poster that I put up on my bedroom wall next to the one that came with Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of the Moon and another that came with Frank Zappa's 200 Motels. Local legend has it that Alice and the band were at the Local Kmart in Pontiac, Michigan. The friends had been partying. Went to the Kmart and were goofing around in the toy section. Several people including Alice Cooper were arrested for disorderly conduct. So this is where the song came from.

This is possibly the best Alice Cooper album. I’m wearing a Billion Dollar Babies t shirt right now. Great reaction.

Best drumming on any Alice Cooper song is the closing few minutes on 'Wish You Were Here' from 75's 'Alice Cooper Goes to to Hell' - it's absolutely amazing! (Billion Dollar Babies is my favourite AC album though!)

The story I hear about this song was at the time the record labels were telling their top acts that their next record was automatically a gold record. Alice's answer was Billion Dollar Babies. Jethro Tull was Thick As A Brick which he didn't think anyone would buy. Herb Albert quit recording and others failed. They dropped the practice not to long after.

This entire album is crazy good. Hello Hurray is one of my favorite tracks, although not an original song written by the band and recorded by Judy Collins prior, it is a great tune. I still have my LP with the huge dollar bill that came with it. Lol. The original band was the best. Glen Buxtom, Michael Bruce, Neal Smith, Dennis Dunaway and of course Vince who would legally take the band name as his own.
