Yeah, My Phantom Limb being the closing track was really weird to me too. I wanna believe it's gonna be like My Father Will Guide me where its an album that sounds good but not completely wow; only to reveal some truly phenomenal albums such as The Seer trilogy later on

I gotta disagree with what you say about cathedrals of heaven, for me it is one of my favourite Swans songs, it makes me feel like I'm in a foggy swamp on a row boat with a lantern attached whereby I can only see 5 meters around me, save not for a distant gothic cathedral swamped by the silhouettes of the cultists who inhabit. But that's just me😎

Still 3rd best this year for me (after CALIGULA by Lingua Ignota and Dawn to Fear by Cult of Luna)... Have a Nice Life's Sea of Worry is pretty close though, I'll decide after some more listens

Ok, c'mon. Some New Things "utterly terrible"? I mean, it can be argued that it's unnecessarily repetitive and anticlimactic, but the groove is catchy as hell. And in what way are the lyrics so bad? They are pretty standard for Swans, and "it's hungry like a monkey" is not even close to the most ridiculous they've had. The true worst lyrics on this album came from the hanging man:
"Who is the watcher who's watching this thought whose thought is a thought that is not what he thought"
Also, very surprising that The Glowing Man has not grown on you by now.
"It's anticlimactic and too repetitive but is catchy so It's not bad"

My first listen I thought The Glowing Man was very aimless and thought it dragged a lot because of that, but with more listens I enjoy the glowing album much more and think it’s a 10
