If you're a nursing associate in the UK you do a level 6 top up degree course over 18months to 2 years, depending on the University. Some NHS Trusts will pay for nursing associates to top up through an apprenticeship scheme. Ask your manager or nurse educator if they offer a top up to RN through an apprenticeship with your current employer, as your fees will be paid and you're paid a wage on an apprenticeship. Alternatively you can self-fund a top up course or do a pre-reg adult nursing degree where you'll be credited for your NA foundation degree. If your employer doesn't offer top course you could look to see if other local employers do. Often managers support internal nursing associates with top up so it may help to look to other employers who offer the top up. If you're unsure contact the education leads in hospital and/ or community trusts they will know if top up offered. I hope that helps.
Im really unsure if I should do my level 3 apprenticeship then my foundation to nursing associate. Or to go the quicker route of doing access course online to go to uni. Have you got any advice ? Thankyou
@lucyheath2677 If you DM me on Twitter or Instagram Lucy I'm happy to chat through on an online meeting if you think it will help. I don't charge. Everyone has different circumstances. Thinking about the positives and negatives of the different routes helps.
