    • @carolforde-johnston
      @carolforde-johnston 5 днів тому

      Usually it is, if they have given you a title. You can usually use PowerPoint slides or a poster what ever you prefer to present with in your talk. If they haven't given a title then you will need to be led by the recruitment lead, as it may be different set up. Sometimes they just give you a title on the day and expect you to talk without slides. If in doubt check with the recruitment lead. They should also let you know if there are facilities to use PowerPoint slides in the interview and what the expectation is so don't hesitate to check with them if in doubt. I hope your interview goes well.

    Hi Carol, do you have any tips or advice on how PDNs in your workplace support your internationally educated nurses? How is their role different in anyway to the normal PDN for our domestic nurses? Would you be able to share some information on this please? Many thanks.

    • @carolforde-johnston
      @carolforde-johnston 23 дні тому

      Hi yes we have a bridging programme specifically for international nurses where we go through key differences in nursing, such as risk assessments, EPR, national safety standards. We also try to link international nurses to a buddy from their country of origin. Recruitment leads keep an eye and meet them in a welcome meeting then 12 weeks later. Hope that helps.

    • @carolforde-johnston
      @carolforde-johnston 23 дні тому

      Hi @jobanjeetsingh8826 The Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) website is best to look for information and updates as they regulate ODPs. See some current information below but it can change so you need to check for updates. Also HCPC do not stipulate you need this level to get on register they leave it with employers so you can check with individual employers. However below is the level they may ask for. 7.2 Communicate in English to the required standard for their profession (equivalent to level 7 of the International English Language Testing System, with no element below 6.5*) *The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) tests competence in the English language. Applicants who have qualified outside of the UK, whose first language is not English and who are not applying through the Swiss Mutual Recognition Route (SMR) must provide evidence that they have reached the necessary standard. More information is available here: Statement on English language proficiency requirements for internationally trained health and care professionals. Link: www.hcpc-uk.org/standards/standards-of-proficiency/operating-department-practitioners/ I hope this helps.

    Hi I'm not attending interview for an advanced nurse practitioner role but rather a mental health practitioner role (band 6) however they do expect a degree of specialisation according to the job specification. Do you think focusing on complex comorbidity in mental health might be an avenue for me to explore for interview as this is my area of interest & where I excel? Eg autism & ADHD, bipolar & substance misuse etc. I want to fit the generic criteria but also want to stand out as well as I have a prior degree in English & philosophy I believe there is 'extra' bits I can bring in that will make my interview a bit more unique & enable me to stand out. I have had research published as an undergraduate on eating disorders; as much as it doesn't pertain to the MH practitioner role specifically would it be worth mentioning in terms of ensuring quality of care etc? Could you recommend any reading for a generic young persons MH practitioner role in terms of policies & so forth? I'd greatly appreciate it. I know the Thrive framework is a big one at the moment. I really struggle with generic questions as I'm not always sure what they're getting at/miss out the most obvious! The Trust values for the role are the 6 Cs: when being asked about what I think the most important values are can I draw upon the Trusts but my own philosophy as well? I don't want to be subversive but equally I don't want to give a 'bog standard' answer that anyone could conjure up, I want to stand out. I'd like to add innovation to list as well for example but support this with evidence ie how it ties back to competence. Thanks for your help.

    • @carolforde-johnston
      @carolforde-johnston Місяць тому

      Yes CASP appraisal tools provide checklists to appraise the reliability and robustness of studies and the applicability of evidence. If your lit review is a dissertation, then some Unis also like an example table where you present studies using a CASP tool in the thesis or appendices so check with your dissertation lead. Otherwise you just write as you have said, and provide the reference. I hope that helps @Happymidwife

      If you look at the application criteria it usually states that you need a level of English before you apply e.g. GCSE grade C, functional level 2 English or equivalent. In the Tell me about yourself? NHS Interview question how is this for an answer? - I have worked in Admin and Retail, customer facing roles, having studied the Job description in detail I feel I have a lot of transferable skills and my strengths and experience are a good match for the role of nursing assistant. For example, I am a caring person who gets great satisfaction from meeting others. I am a strong communicator with excellent organisation skills and can work well in a team and under pressure. I understand this Job will be extremely challenging at times, but I prefer to work in a pressurized environment where I can make a difference, outside of work I like reading, listening to music and hiking.

    Are these questions very similar to the ODP apprenticeship interview questions ?

    • @carolforde-johnston
      @carolforde-johnston 2 місяці тому

      Yes as you may be asked why you want to become an ODP? What are the key responsibilities of ODP? Why you chose apprenticeship route and what the course/ apprentinceship entails? How you plan to manage your time / balance assingments with apprenticeship etc. I hope your interview goes well. 🍀

    Does primary prevention class as primary sector care? X

    • @carolforde-johnston
      @carolforde-johnston 2 місяці тому

      Primary prevention aims to prevent disease or injury before it occurs, e.g. altering unhealthy behaviours that can lead to disease. Secondary prevention is reducing impact of disease. Hope that helps.

      @@carolforde-johnston it does thank you, so really you could receive secondary prevention at primary sector services e.g insulin shots at GP? I appreciate your help and your videos!

    • @carolforde-johnston
      @carolforde-johnston 2 місяці тому

      @@Charthe1st Yes secondary prevention could include daily aspirin to prevent further stroke or heart disease so yes this would work to stabilise diabetes and prevent complications.

If you look into the course and apprenticeship, know what you are applying for and why you want to do an apprenticeship it really helps. Wishing you all the best in your interview. 🍀

    Is it possible to obtain qualitative data or findings from a quantitative research study? I see this somewhat around the discussion area.

    • @carolforde-johnston
      @carolforde-johnston 2 місяці тому

      When you have a purely quantitative study you have numerical data and can have descriptive statistics but the study data is quantitative. However if there is a discussion in the paper it could describe the findings using words - is this what you mean? Just because you describe the data findings doesnt make the study data qualitative though, if the study was a purely quantitative study. Not sure if that helps.

      Dear Carol, I was doing my dissertation whilst pregnant (1st trimester) 😵. I have been a follower of your work on social media platforms. Your posts benefit nurses and have led me in the right direction for my dissertation. Now that I have completed my dissertation recently and got a 72% grade. Your explanation of the literature review dissertation topic is beneficial and clear indeed. From the beginning of the first video, I have watched interview prep questions to finishing my degree. I can't thank you enough for the tremendous influence you have shared. Thank you very much, and God bless ❤❤❤
