Sometimes the reason why you don't know what to paint is not that you have no idea what you should paint. But it's caused by some other problems that you might not be aware of! I haven't painted since last year exactly for this reason!! I'm so glad you made a video on this.
Yes, you described it so well. It's good to know I am not alone. I usually end up finding things to paint, then another issue is sticking with it! Sometimes I find I need to plan the painting better. Luckily even if I just throw myself into it and sometimes that's the best way to learn, even if it means I have to do it several more times.

I really relate to this, I procrastinate for hours when what I should do is just paint!
Whenever I do find anything to paint it's probably during online school or something, by the time I get to painting I'll have completely forgotten what my previous idea was 😅. And when I'm completely free and I really want to paint something I wouldn't have any idea of what.

This "WHAT TO PAINT" art block makes me feel killing myself...
I still remember I took my charcoal pencils and my phone to search for a picture but couldn't find one! But then I ended up drawing myself and then it ended up to be my best drawing till date😅

I’m a person that normally does character art with watercolor. Late last year, I’ve made good full-canvas illustrations that were the best paintings I’ve ever done, and since then, I’ve felt like everything I make coming forward has to be THAT good. That I can’t go back to doing simple, silly doodles like I used to. I’m not very good at coming up with those types of compositions, though, so I’ve rarely painted in the last two months

This video has perfect timing. I can relate to this so much!!
I wouldn't call myself an artist as such, but I have been there, too. But since art is just a hobby for me (and I have many more hobbies to occupy myself with) I just take a break from painting if I don't feel like painting. And I think as a hobby artist you shouldn't stress yourself out with having to paint every day, because that only causes more stress and more art block if you do not feel like painting. You'll still improve even if you just paint every other day or even just once a week.
This topic is very important, all artis have this problem more less, very nice advises..👍👨🏻🎨🖼

I'm in deep awe at the importance and insight and care flowing out of this video!!! 😮 You made me realize so many things! Notably the close connection of fear of failure/fear of success, like they're two sides of the same coin.
I was already aware of my fear of failure, had it all my life even though I didn't meet failure much. But the one time I did had been devastating! Like my whole world capsized. And I've grown very wary of success ever since. What I've come to realize now is that I need(ed) encouragements and support; which I never got/get. For the people around me, success was something expected, failure only a phase, no biggie. So starting a new activity, even if it is a hobby is going on an adventure full of lurking shadows... on my own.
Well, almost on my own, you're here and I'm so glad I met you and your tutos! 💗💗💗

These are on the spot tips that are so helpful. I've been in a bit of an art slump and I decided to use tarot cards to inspire me to make art. I do a quick reading that gives me the foundation I need to get started. I've been having so much fun posting videos about my process. Hearing what you said about uncovering the underlying issue of why one might experience art block makes me think that perhaps some of those issues might show up in the tarot reading itself. Thank you for posting this,I want to paint but I'm going through this "WHAT-TO-PAINT" art block,but I'm focusing on painting something with the topic of floral or flowers (which is causing me to have this block) and yes, your right, if you focus more on the destination, you'll find out it's all useless now,you should focus in the journey rather than the destination (sample: you really want to paint something that you keep thinking about the results to find out that you dislike the piece since you only imagined the result,not the process of making it) move everything else beside,this video is very helpful :)

I have many ideas what to paint! I don’t have all the skills yet. I don’t know how to paint what i want to paint. So I keep painting what I know how to paint. Getting better at that. But I don’t spend enough time watching videos to try to learn. It’s a bit tedious when I just want to put the paint on the paper!
