Carol Dweck is so smart and knowledgeable about how our minds keep gathering information. As we take in the worldaround us, making sense out of our experiences and responding in an appropriate manner. From Dr. Christine JohnstonLet Me Learn Book.Pauly L. Allen

I developed an opinion about the way Carol Dweck's 6th grad.e teacher Ms. Wilson treated her students. With her sitting her students in IQ order, this to me demonstrates a influence of a fixed mindset upon the students. I think this is important to think about as our "era views our children's intelligence"- Carol Dweck. I really enjoyed Carol Dwecks speech on Brain Research. It was very motivating and encouraged me to want to further research her studies on how the brain works

I had a similar experience in sixth grade. Our teacher seated us according to rank. It boosted the top 5 and demoralized everyone else. A year later, her oh-so-orderly system was chaos. We were all guinea pigs.

Carol was trying to explain how much things have evolved since she was young in how we approach learning and children's ability. Not to take the time to make fun of others or consider some people more or less than each other. People were laughing because this would never happen in todays classroom environment =) (@GrowthGuided) for more !

Instead, I was not impressed that Stanford audience laughed at the fact that her teacher had arranged the students in IQ order.... for I interpreted that laugh as a "relief from an old trauma" for those who recognized themselves in that particular situation in their school times.

As an educator and mother, I love her work. But I must say, I was horrified with the Stanford audience at 7:40 when they laughed at the fact that her teacher had arranged them in order of IQ. I gasped and my heart sank! Who thinks that kind of thing is funny?!

What If you're just smart enough to realize how horrible the school system is and therefore lose motivation to learn the repetitive, useless material?
