When you take organic and biochem, advanced physics, and thermodynamics. there is no "pretty much no effort." You can be smart, you can understand it, but it is a lot of information, math, memorization, and relationship comprehension. That takes effort. Some may do it better than others, or faster, but don't be fooled into thinking it doesn't take massive effort and hours of study.
Thank you professor Dweck, your research is enlightening and encouraging, i happen to read your book and transformed my mindset to growth which changed my life fundamentally, i was inferior and depressed, but now i can always see things in a growth manner, i don't fear setbacks and mistakes anymore, because i believe no one is born smart, we are smart through learning, experiencing, and making mistakes. Thank you again, hope one day you can come to china to let more people know your theory.

So often I hear young students, and specially girls, say that they are just not smart enought to understand math, and I so deeply believe that this is just not true, for anyone. Everyone can learn but it will take effort! And you should not limit yourself with "I'm just not talented".

Being a teacher, when you mentioned the bottom third of students that "schools give up on", I really did not like that general assumption. I never give up on any of my kids and neither do a majority of teachers I know. : ) Just had to point that out. We don't have all the answers, that's why your work is important, but we never give up on our kids. I know you meant nothing by it, but it hurts when as a teacher you are giving everything you have to help students succeed, and that when our students fail, it's because "we" gave up on them.
How can we integrate this mindset in in Juvenile detention centers or in private facilities for youth to rehabilitate them as contributing citizens? I would like to research or help with that.
i agree with most of it except for one of her opinions (the belief that if you have ability you shouldn't need much effort to learn (that this is a bad idea)) because if the material were presented in a format easy for the student to understand and is on a topic that the student enjoys and maybe is passionate about they will take in the information and learn/ grow with pretty much no effort. The exception to my disagreement would be when you are teaching them to improve on their weaknesses.
i also disagree with ("even geniuses have to work super hard for their great discoveries") because most of the time they weren't working hard so to speak they were investigative upon how things worked and explored all possibilities through their passionate feeling toward understanding whatever it was they were researching, and some of the time they discovered things through luck/ coincidence(the genius part being them realizing what they found in these cases)
If we are all seekers, who will be our keepers? What if kids are being grown into into bankers and politicians? What if the things kids really need is not available in the grow bundle? What about balance? If we are all seekers, who will be the keepers
Slow delivery is perfect for some of us - I have trouble following when the information is presented at a rapid pace without time for the first sentence to sink in ;)

you are considered a loser when you dont try enough for something saying its not worth doing cuz it needs much effort. of course its your fault, its up to you. when its not up to you then its not your fault. plus, if it wouldn worth it then you wouldnt think about doing it. we all have pontentions to do better, but we dont all have the chance. if you have the chance and all you need is effort, your fail is your fault
Interesting, but her statistics are questionable. The scale on the graphs she presents are pretty meaningless. They look good, but that is because they are on a very small scale on something subjectively graded.
The more I delve deeper into Growth Mindset by reading Prof. Dweck's book and viewing the videos, the more I understand it and feel compelled to share it with teachers in the field. I think it will spell a big difference if teachers see their students being on the learning curve (not YET there but are in the process of learning), students can be more positive about exerting effort and overcoming difficulties that are certainly part of schooling and of life!
