Introduction to Backing

Sorry about the wind. This is how I start the introduction to backing using a backing/silhouette machine. You can also put a dog in the whoa/pointing position behind an obstacle and then bring your pup around the obstacle to see the pointing dog. If you have your pup solid on whoaing, teaching backing is easy. You just do repetitions of whoaing your pup whenever it sees a dog on point. I like to add a bird flush to establish the bird with the back and a possible retrieve.
