Happy belated birthday Harry! Very inspiring, I'm tempted to try harvesting my yeast trub.. Even if it has dry hoppage in there as well.. Might be an interesting experiment! Have a good one dude!

Harry, time for Kveik!! Voss maybe, pilot brew first something like like the vacant, then build that up in the main kit. Temperature tolerant, multi style compatible, super fast, and even faster brewed under pressure. Worth a go at least ;-)

Belated happy birthday Harry m8. Hope all is well with you and yours. Hope you had a great birthday(notice you never said how old you were lol). My HB woolie hat is coming in handy atm, though a hoodie to match would be handy if you ever do any. Anyway take care m8,still one of the few I tune into each morning. Cheers.

Cannot wait for your washing demo. I find yeast maintenance and cultivation fascinating. Chris, why do we hear all the time, "'don't harvest dry yeast" - your example shows it is completely effective? (And Happy Birthday, brother!)

Hey Harry. Happy birthday firstly buddy. I'm following this one as I'm doing the same as you, 500L batches and reusing my yeast but my samples (tubs of yest) are about twice or even three times the size of yours and I think I may be over pitching but I've never had a bad fermentation yet though, I don't check yeast count or anything. Is that small amount you collected going to be enough for a 500L batch and how did you work that out? looking forward to seeing the washing too. I love this part of the brewing process and want to have all my own custom, in-house yeast strains for each beer.

How long do you plan on storing them? Also, how are you going to estimate the cell count or determine how much to pitch next time?

Us 05 is my go to yeast. In am doing a black ale, or should I say I hope it comes out that way at the end I am using lager yeast for that to help make sure it comes out the way I want
