- Goose hunting is easy right? Just put some decoys out, honk a few times and start shooting....... Some days yes, but other times it takes a fine-tuned approach and EVERYTHING has to be perfect. In this video you will learn a few tips that can really turn an average day in the field into a great day!
Definitely appreciate the last tip on communication, nothing ruins a hunt like confusion. Good tips!
Thanks!
Great info, Just got into Field Goose hunting after 45 years of waterfowling. We used this info with great success.
Awesome! Glad to hear it.
Michigan Salmon/Steelhead fisherman who is just getting into waterfowl hunting. This video has been invaluable. Thank you
Great! Glad to hear it.
Another rookie Michigan boy here too! Thanks
Great video! I’ll be hunting geese for the first time next weekend. Thank you for the tips!
You bet! Good luck.
I’ve found that using cattails to brush in gives the effect of a wetland area. The birds tend to feel safer plus they cover the blind very well.
I like to do that too, put a pair or three decoys in the open hole. I generally put a couple upright heads. It does look like birds that just touched down and are walking into the main group.
It definitely seems to be something they key in on some days. Won’t be long now and we will be back out there!
Awesome video, thank you for such great information 👍🏻
You bet!
@@calebwistad opening day today, went this morning with a young man I sort of mentor , I haven’t been in 15 years and his first time , used your little trick with the pair in kill hole , worked perfectly, we got 4 geese this morning. That little guy was so happy. Thank you for the tips , greatly appreciated.👍🏻👍🏻

Tip no. 7 & 8 - plant your corn early and never stare directly into the sun. :)
Right on!
Loved these tips
Thanks!
Good stuff, subbed. Any tips on hiding layout blinds in a sod field?
I’d say try partially burying the blinds if you can.
What do you with the birds you shoot before you have limited out? Like if you were in the middle of 100 acre field. Great video. 👍🏼
Place them as decoys!!
Which wind do you like the best? Wind at your back or a cross wind? Does one work better than the other? Thanks.
That’s a great question. It primarily depends on how much cover we have and what the cover is. If we have decent ground cover all over the field I will set up so they come in with the wind at our back and birds in our face. If it’s really tough hiding I will set up for a crosswind so the birds aren’t looking directly at us. Also, if we are set up in a drainage ditch I will usually try to get the wind quartering from behind us so the birds still come in somewhat facing us but they have a little room to land and they aren’t running directly into the drainage ditch. Sometimes it’s just a matter of setting up so you aren’t raining bbs on houses too! 😂

Thanks!
PLEASE- DO NOT SKY BUST LIKE YOUR VIDEO.
We shoot when they are inside 30 yards. They definitely appear farther due to the wide-angle lens used to film some of the video.
Those geese were humanely killed and they clearly fell so they were not too far away!
@@logancampbell88 thanks for the backup buddy. I agree 💯
