In my personal opinion it’s always nice putting in socks as well as full body’s with the silhouettes. So when the geese go over they can still see the decoys. Silhouettes are cheap and work wonders!
The shadows play big factor. I've experienced it first hand this hunting season that if its super overcast and they don't have shadows definitely avoid using just silos, but maybe having a 50/50 blend of FB or shells w them would work or even socks. But If all you have is silos and its pure overcast expect the geese to start to side drift away from the deeks as they get closer if they're higher than 35-40 yrds up. Seemed once they got inside of 70 yrds is when they would start to side skirt away from our deek spread.
OMG SOMEBODY FINALLY DID IT! do some research on how a duck or goose vision works. Really awesome perspective. NO TRAILER NEEDED. Y BOARDS MAKE SET UP AND ADJUSTMENT EVEN FASTER. I'll subscribe. you and Steve Nunz got the silhouette action figured out.
Lot of haters on here. Surprising how many people on here have the money for 6-12 dozen full body goose decoys. (10 dozen silhouettes will run $600). Also, that have unfettered access to drive into every field. Never face plowing or muddy conditions that prevent driving in. Oh and probably havent hunted over silhouettes let alone large spreads of them. Quite hating on guys that are doing content to share what works for them and help you figure shit out.
Silos & wind socks by themselves dont work in my area for honkers, nor do any of the motion honker decoys. If we use them they are just for fillers. Fullbodys & lessers seem to be the only deeks or honkers will commit to, our honkers are very decoy shy. But nice video, I envy the guys that can get away with just using silos.
@@Averageopportunity Man I'd love to have DSD's they are always sold out. I have 6 dozen Avian X fullbody flocked & another 3 dozen Avian X lessers flocked & just got a couple dozen White Rock Fullbody Honkers (Actually the size of lessers).
These were my Exact words 2 years ago bu we bought 7 dozen silos and we did kill big honkers over an all silo spread. The hook is the weather conditions for big geese were perfect.
I dont think a goose could tell the difference there pretty dumb but the thing geese don't like is presentation into the sunlight they don't really like approaching on the non shadow side of any decoy. So you would be hunting with the sun to your back. And coving up so that you are not visible from the sunny side is the key. I have noticed that geese hate moving from the sunny side into decoys. Where there shadows would be in frount of them. I think its a predator response.
Hey man I hear ya. We run Realgeese silos now and couldn't be happier with the product and the people that make it. Plus made in the USA 🇺🇸 is a big bonus!
Average Opportunity oh definitely we mix in real geese with our spread too and hands down best silhouette decoys on the market in my opinion, my budy also had a bad experience with dive bomb he got the wrong thing shipped to him and they just hung up the phone lol
Been running my dive bombs and storing and transporting them in plastic totes trying to save a buck on bags... are the bags that divebomb makes worth 55 bucks or make the transport that much easier that it’s worth investing in them?
Honostely, it depends on how you get them where you are going. If you are driving or boating them to the location then I would say no. If you have any walks planned then they are worth every penny.
We can pack 5dz per hunter with gun and blind bag with the DB bags. I have 4 bags, but i know on most hunts they are not neccessary and they dont stand up as good as a plastic bin will.
In my experience, if they want to sit down they will , or they have some other destination in mind. Out of towners (migrators) will set on your decoys more rather than the locals. Unless all water is frozen, then just hungry
@@Averageopportunity any ways thanks for getting back .I am new to goose hunting a friend cooked up a goose breast for me.i loved it now i am hooked. i was told by a few people goose tasted really fishy i did not find that to be the truth. i guess you are what you eat

I would totally buy some if the price was more reasonable. Silhouettes cost about $120-150 a dozen. All you're paying for is an image printed onto a sheet.

Great video-thank you. Christmas shopping for decoys for my son and leaning towards Silhouettes.
Realgeese Silos is having a huge sale right now. Its all we run now. AMERICAN MADE!
@@Averageopportunity thanks for the info!

Thanks Ritchie! I love the simplicity
Shawn Stahl does a video with a drone and it is worth looking into. His conclusion is interesting. Sorry I don't know the link.
I'm still a full body guy but they are great to fill in pockets but I use shells for that
If you have them, use them buddy!
All those decoys, that entire spread, one guy….11 miinutes! ya killing me.

I use both and it works perfectly and put a couple of shells they work amazing
Ha ha.. a PETA ad before this video is classic.. Don't kill canada geese or coyotes... yeah, right.. SMOKE EM!
I dont understand how they allocate ads hahahaha

Thats why I keep several DSDs in the trailer now. And we have switched to Realgeese Silos for durability and realism.

how many decoys was that?
About 15dz
Did u ever get the time to run them on a cloudy day
yes we did
see how the decoys are light and dark with the sun beating on them.... birds flare almost every time on sunny days
Dang! Sorry they aren't working for you in your area, we have had great success with them in all conditions. Finally sold all the Canada fullbodies.
@@Averageopportunity they 100% have their uses, this is just an observation i have found
Bummer the season is over here
I’m gonna stick to fullbodys my buddy has some dive bomb socks only used two season and only like 15 hunts and they are already breaking

I think you should still use full bodies just for different looks in different parts of your spread
We have found no reason to mess with fullbodies in our big silohette spreads.

ok man
Ok 👍
great video! very interesting
How far apart do you usually set them?
it really depends on how the live birds are before we hunt

Thanks a bunch!! I appreciate the love!
They are great decoys! Affordable, fast and they "flat" kill geese

You might have said it in the video and I missed it but how many dozen did u put out?
I think I said 16dz... but it was 12dz in 11 minutes
What kind of decoy bags are those?
They are divebombs bags.

Love the divebomb sillouettes. Had good success with them this year. Does anyone know time efficient way to get them in the ground once it's fozen.
Dive Bomb is coming out with a tool that has two spikes that you drive and stomp into the ground to make your stake holes in frozen ground
Use a drill
Ever tried putting silhouettes in frozen ground??? Not gonna happen.
Yes sir all winter long. Rubber mallets or stake punches depending on how frozen it is.
@@Averageopportunity not up in Canada. November on this year couldn't get em in the ground. Seen dozens of dive bombs get destroyed trying to put them into frozen ground. No one type of decoy is best for every situation
I agree with that. The divebombs are corrugated and will shatter when it gets cold enough. the hole punch is best when its that cold
Get a cheap battery powered drill.
