Well, it technically wasn't aimed for kids, hence the R rating, but I can imagine some would have taken/show their kids this assuming it was family friendly. To be honest, I don't find the R rating earned as far as content goes, as it feels very PG-13 in that regard, but it feels like it was done that way since Macaulay Culkin was at the height of his popularity and the filmmakers must have really wanted people to know that it was not kid friendly.
I understand what you're saying. I'm sure alot of people saw this movie but watching it as a young child had a emotional and psychological impact on me. Even at such a young age it had me questioning the psychology of people and the aspect of nature versus nurture. It freaked me out cuz I was so young and I kind of realized that some people are just born evil as hell.
I honestly love this movie. It’s perhaps my favorite movie with Elijah and Mcully. Yes Home Alone and LOTR are arguably and objectively better. But this movie really shows how some people are just born as psychopaths. And it’s a testament to their acting skills to make it look almost damn near convincing and real. And that’s what scares me, I can distinguish between reality and fiction just making a point here. This a good movie that shouldn’t be forgotten
It is always great how they asked a lot of their child actors back in the day. It is good to see them exhibit such talent. High standards and nothing but excellence needs to be the norm again.

Yeah, Elijah was not a big time actor whenever he got this supporting role. It was basically viewed as "a chance to work with the Home Alone kid" at this point in time which was an enormous hit. This movie actually helped out push him further up the ranks to where he is is today.
Looking at this movie you get to see two child actors one went on to be successful the other well struggled but then again I think there’s still friends

You cannot blame Macaulay Culkin, but you can blame the screenwriter.
It is scary to know that psychopaths are real. They do prey on anyone and everyone. All we can do is be aware of such people and always be on our guard around people we don't know. Definitely something to think about.

This movie was so disturbing. I was so angry at Henry throughout this entire movie. As hard as it can be, it is best to stay calm in these situations. Because if you snap, the facts will be reversed to make you look like the bad guy.
I think people like Henry end up running the world when they grow up & that’s why the world has always been a messed up place. Power, control, scaring people, not caring if good people get hurt. This movie may have been trying to shed a light on the fact that they were children once. Shed a light on the fact that people can be born bad & can have those types of tendencies as children & we, as adults, need to look out for the signs
