      Could you consider adding a text layer displaying metric units on your vids when you are discussing imperial measurements on your bike reviews etc etc.
      A lot of us on here are from countries that use metric measurements. Would really appreciate that if you could.

    SV650X is a best fun bike for the money slap a good exhaust on it and boom and instant smile maker every time You crank that throttle!! Ps a little bellypan looks good as well to hide the oil filter and the headders! And if You are serious about thack just slap a GSXR 750 front end on it and rear shock and rear sets and you will have a perfect track bike. It won't be the quickest down the straight(put a bigger sprocket by 2 at the back and you gonna be much quicker out the corners) but in the twists you will get back on a lot on big cc bikes if you know what your doing! Plus it's a bike where you can pin the throttle on publick roads and you won't go to jail for it!! That is why Suzuki been making it for so long cause it is so fun and versatile!!

    I do not own a bike. I had a ride on a 2016 SV650 about a year ago along with 3 other bikes from honda and kawasaki. The SV650 is for sure the bike that i want feels amazing, and yes she does have some kick and pep from the engine. I opened it up on a straight through a few gears and didnt even realize i hit 90 mph in no time at all. A bike you can for sure get in trouble with, but it is very comfortable and forgiving. I love it

    Good job. I really appreciate your doing a "straight" review, rather than some of the earlier short take, chopped, stand up comedy littered with memes narration videos you used to do. This has a more grown up feel. On substance, I think maybe the regular SV650 is more similar to the XSR700 than the SV650X, which quite a few add ons that bump the price and which the XSR doesn't have.

    Had two xsr's, the first bike was a great bike, light, flickable, torquey. The second on I had after owning a cb650f seemed bitey with poorly set up suspension and didn't flick like I remembered and I'm not saying the cb650f was a good bike for me at all. Overall I should have chosen the sv that I test rode the same time as the second xsr, the sv is better value and so so much more forgiving, you rode it, it doesn't ride you kind of thing.

      Meanwhile my old Aprilia Pegaso 650 single cyl from 2008 featured brembos front and rear from factory.. Imagine that 12 years later the Japanese are still rocking off-the-shelf spare parts for the main safety feature on your bike. Ah well, as long as they do the job, but it would be nice if they just upgraded to something a little more worthy of a 2020 model year bike at this price point.

    In early April 2021, I was trying to buy an XSR 700 for my son, but dealers were adding on so much for freight etc., the total price was $9200 before sales tax. I stumbled upon a new 2020 SV650 ABS and they offered me $8000 out the door before tax. So I bought the SV. Couldn't be happier. Bike rides like a little dart and handles effortlessly. Looks beautiful. I've never owned a Suzuki before, but so far, I am completely impressed. Very fun to ride. I think we would have like the XSR as well, but not worth $1200 more.

    Thanks guys. The standard SV is more like a Gixxer wannabe. I know that's harsh, but it's true. It is NOT a good platform for a track bike. (It's a good track DAY bike, but not a good TRACK bike.) Guys would swap the forks for gixxer forks because the stock ones would get squirmy under hard braking. As a street bike, the full fairings are slightly pretentious. With the X model, I think the SV has found itself. It's niche is "weekday street/weekend canyon carver". They also made the naked SFV650 Gladius with good build quality that FortNine reviewed (but I don't like the up-bars). I vote for the SV over the XSR. I don't like the extra 20 lbs but I do like the adjustable suspension and clip-ons for country roads, and the bike is probably narrower due to the V engine (more ground clearance). Note: the Gladius used 10-jet gixxer fuel injectors to fix the jerky acceleration. Someone with moderate mechanical skills could swap in some used gixxer injectors. Lastly, I think the XRS's tendency to lift the front end has nothing to do with the engine but is related to the (higher?) center of gravity and the (shorter?) wheel base.

    SV650 does not have “idle control” it has low RPM assist. Completely different. Unless I’m completely missing something on a bike I own. Most modern bikes have eliminated an idle adjust knob.

    • @devyn5330
      @devyn5330 4 роки тому +11

      Suzuki’s patented Throttle-body Integrated Idle Speed Control (TI-ISC) eases starting, stabilizes the engine idle speed, and helps lower emissions. The system is compact and lightweight.
      The TI-ISC on the SV650X incorporates Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist feature that seamlessly adjusts engine speed during takeoff and low-speed running to smooth the power delivery and to help eliminate the possibility of the rider stalling the motorcycle.

    I owned SV years ago, it had bad brakes.... But the thing is I did not use them a lot (compared to the 4-cylinder bike I also owned) because engine is braking quite hard... That is a plus if you have a 2-cylinder bike: engine braking. So, what happened? I bought a replacement braking pads and I never used them! The original pads never wore out! Amazing. I missed ABS, though... Braking in the wet with ABS is a different planet...

    So between these two,
    Xsr - " just-ok' brakes plus pogo-like soft suspension seemed to be more tuned for dominant city riding and road imperfections; chill all-day riding
    Sv - brake&suspension tuned for a more agressive riding (vs xsr7); very alive and happy in high revs, perfect weekend getaway carving (and smiles) in the twisties

It was a great bike and the CP2 engine is a peach, but it just wasn't the bike for me . So, I went out and got an excellent deal on 2021 Suzuki SV650. I absolutely love the thing - what a bike - and so underated! It sounds wonderful, handles great and it's a bargain. It's also great to be back on a sports bike with 17" wheels, I feel so much more comfortable. Adventure bikes have their place, but I do mostly urban riding and I found the Ténéré just too top heavy and it was a bit of a handful in some situations - give me the SV650 any day!

      @@Zbroja69 I noticed Yamaha have put 23-litre dual fuel tanks on the Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid. It's made the bike a lot wider, plus they've also flattened the top of the tank in the process - I bet it's lowered the centre of gravity! Also, the suspension is far better compared to the base spec Ténéré 700, which is a bit too soft. I wouldn't buy another adventure bike, but I would love a go on a BMW R1250GS. All adventure bikes are inherently heavy but the GS uses a flat-twin boxer engine which keeps the weight down nice and low. Apparently, there's a new one on the horizon, which should be interesting, as it's already one of the best adventure bikes you can buy, if not the best. 👍

    Hey Yamm & Spite. Would you do a video about swapping the front end of the SV650X with one from GSXR750 or 1000? I know of a few people who want to do it, including myself, but its a bit daunting. Many thanks Hans

    So gald you mentioned throttle being jerky, i was doing my bike lesson on an sv650 and never managed to start it smoothly (car park speed) and always thought it was my untrained throttle hand.

    • @paddyjay3364
      @paddyjay3364 3 роки тому +1

      It's actually really smooth starting off in 1st, where it gets jerky is into second. Not accelerating while shifting from 1st to 2nd, it happens after decelerating. If you let off the throttle in second into the corner, if can't feel jerky getting back on the throttle is what I found. So I find to smooth it out I kind to have to feather the clutch a bit and it really helps.

      Hi Bryan. Greetings from Germany. I own the sv650x since 2018, and I'm 60 years old. You get used to the handle bars very quickly, you can even change your seat position by the angle of your arms. It's only surprising when you're riding it the first few times. I do rides with my buddies up to 180 miles per day. After all, a little exercise for your neck muscles. Drive safely....

    • @jaybosher6144
      @jaybosher6144 3 роки тому

      No, bikes are mostly just fuel injected at this point. Hell you can still get new bikes with carbs in 2021 (drz400). DI is expensive so it'll show up in top tier bikes first
