They basically picked the songs for all the charecters beside Rachel berry, they wanted to have a very good rating by doing it so fans Will enjoy Glee" more.
Some of My statements are from interviews just like comic con 2012 where Lea told everyone that she asked Ryan Murphy for a Celine Dion song for season 3 and the video of their auditions

All it did was make Dianna all but leave the show and the ratings which had been dropping every year to truly start tanking. He stated afterwards he regretted how he treated some of the cast. Bet that's as close to a apology as Dianna will ever get from that lazy unimaginative peace of useless floatsome

Now if Marley's character and actress had replaced Rachel from the pilot and the unholy trinity actually protected Marley from the jocks then the lead character would have been loved. But calling Marley the new Rachel killed Marley as a character. She should have been called the new improved and lovable Rachel. Cause that girl was a better singer, better actress, better dancer just all around better!

I feel like they cheapened all of the character's storylines over time and gradually dumbed them down to a "meme" to gain quick viral views rather than building genuine character development for the long time fans. Blaine is a great example, he went from such a wise, smart and sweet character to pretty much a ditzy & emotional stereotypical gay teen.
abby Koitka I agree. The writers completely ruined Blaine in the later seasons by pulling all sorts of things to make Klaine have a lot of drama and it basically made Blaine into a character that is just kurts boyfriend. Like Blaine didn’t even have any personality that isn’t revolves around Kurt.
