Distorted video caused by an intermittent connection in the video path.
Almost 4 years old and still a tremendously useful video. That's what makes the internet great: There are no old threads -- just ones that haven't helped someone in a while. Thanks!
Another great fix! I shudder to think of people who end up junking their TV just because of a faulty cable connection. At least this one is saved form the landfill.
Cheers, John
Great fix. Thanks for sharing another.
Wire brush?! Agggh! Best to use the least aggresive abrasive: pencil eraser or ink eraser at most.
Good suggestion abt using paper as a cleaner. I'll just add to be sure to not use coated (glossy) paper stock.
Keep up the great TV repairs & ATF flushes!

Abt the scope display: it's not the camera, the scope wasn't triggering properly. Was the signal you saw steady on the scope display?
Love these videos.
Use DeoxIT Gold to clean and protect connectors
Have you never heard of " micro scrub" to clean contacts on the lvds cable and it's connector.
I had a Sony 32 inch LCD TV which has green vertical thin bars or lines uniformly throughout the entire screen. But whenever the set is first turned on, the Sony logo will first appear and time out after about 2 seconds, this logo is clean and clear of any lines. The main picture and the menu both have these lines appear. Why does the set discriminate between the logo and the main picture or menu? Changing the T con module did not resolve the problem either.
Perhaps defective RAM chips on the digital board? The image data for the logo may reside on an OK chip. That's at least a possibility.
Or perhaps you have a bit fault like in this video, and the Sony logo simply doesn't utilise that bit in its colour reproduction? Just a thought.
How a bad connection can cause this problem... that is when experience comes in to solve something like this.
I put a video into my video player and it looks like half the picture, Why
Trippy...
Another excellent video! what is your email address? Or how do I know when you respond to a comment?
