You actually don't have to beat Peony to explore the Crown Tundra. I know this because I first went in with an underleveled team, lost to him, and was able to progress anyway.
@@mav4159 isn't the Suicune automatically the first encounter for Max Raid Adventure? Which is level 70 while you can potentially encounter 3 level 65 mons along the way
HGSS post game: - The entire Kanto region with every location and all 8 gym badges - The Battle Frontier - 12 legendaries (Most in the series at the time) - The Safari Zone (Best in the series) - The National Dex - GBA Sounds - Gym Leader Rematches - Elite Four Rematches - Mt. Silver and Red - The Game Corner - The Pokeanthalon - Making Pokeballs with Kurt - Events (Best in the series) - Get a Kanto starter - Get a Hoenn starter - Ruins of Alph - Swarm Pokemon
No the safari zone is the worst in the series. Having to balance those blocks and needing to wait like 70 days is tedious and boring Also the events are obsolete since you can’t even access them without hacking
I miss the ORAS legendary hunt. The first few weeks was spent by having the community come together to try to figure out the specific requirements for the legendaries and you always know which legendary you are getting. This generic “every past legend and you get a random one in this vague dimensionless void” became tiresome when USUM did it, now it’s just annoying with SwSh
I was sad when they removed Looker and Anabel from USUM. Well they are in it, but you can only see them once and you need to avoid doing an Ultra Beast capture to begin with.
Favorite Postgame:Pokémon Sword and Shield and All of the Generation 4 Games because the DLC added more Content and Postgame Areas, more Legendaries to catch, More New NPC, New Areas to Explore in the Postgame such as The Crown Tundra and Many More, and also Pokémon Platinum and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for the same reason, it’s a step up to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl with more content. Least favorite: Pokémon X and Y because it’s boring and the only good thing is the Looker Mission, it only features one new city to visit in the postgame and only allows us to catch 3 legendary pokemon in the postgame.
Not only do X & Y's base games feel incomplete in and of themselves, Kalos' postgame feels outright insulting for the sixth generation of a series like Pokémon. The Looker Missions can all be done within about an hour or so, there are parts of the map that are just sectioned off and never elaborated on, and for a region that aims to capitalize on a feeling of grandeur, it sure feels empty and with nothing to do, no one to see. Oddly enough, I've clocked more hours in X Version than any other title simply on merit of having so much fun with the competitive meta at the time, but damn, if Kalos isn't starved for things to do and places to explore.
To this day, I am still waiting for some DLC in regards to the power plant. And I have also way more than 1k hours clocked in on just my X edition…due to breeding competitive mons and trading them on forums for others or shinies or items. Was a nice time being a casual „seller“ online (never took RL money, just ingame stuff)
@@jaretco6423 yep :) actually no - but it is easily one of the most lauded feature of any pokégame for a VERY good reason if you love competitive battling, Emerald's Battle Frontier is an absolute paradise (meanwhile SwSh's Battle Tower or USUM's Battle Agency are absolute JOKES)
Seeing every Pokémon in the Sinnoh Dex was never an issue for me. You can easily get it done by the post-game if you just battle every Trainer, which I always do.
But still. Having to find every Pokemon in an dex just to unlock the postgame is pretty stupid. But un-ironically, yeah. I didn't have much trouble with it. The reason why is because I battled every single trainer because the level scale does get an little bit crazy at the end and gaining experience points and leveling up Pokemons can be an slog. So there's that.
@@jaretco6423 Prof Rowan tells you in the absolute beginning of the game that he wants you to see all of Sinnoh Pokémon, plus i did'nt really like the national dex upgrade forced in Black & White (stopping you from grinding the Elite Four).....
Cloud971. I didn't mind the National Dex upgrade in Black & White all that much. Considered since the first game only focus on newer Pokemons and saved the previous ones later down when traveling to the east side of Unova. U don't have to get all of them to unlock the postgame. Unlike Sinnoh. Plus it's not really heavy grinding. Might be. But compared to Gen. 2 & 4, it's nowhere near as as slog as those and gaining experience points & leveling up is faster thanks to the boost experience; us Audino & other items like Lucky Egg and few others for doubling it. So it doesn't bother me. And Black 2 & White 2 mixed the old and newer ones was an nice call.
it isn't much of an issue when i replay now, because i always fight every trainer anyway since i'm gonna need all the exp i can get to fight cynthia but it definitely was confusing when i skipped a bunch of trainers as a kid. i would have to go through every route with fisherman/swimmers just to find that one trainer with finneon (plus i don't think bulbapedia or serebii was as refined as it is now, or maybe i just didn't know they existed)
Personally I prefer the B2W post-game over the HGSS. The exploration in that seems a lot better than in Kanto where all the routes are basically the same.
Not really. There are notable changes to Kanto as well as battling the improved gym leaders of Kanto. BW2 has less areas to explore, even with time skip, and refighting past notable trainers is kinda meh there since you're restricted to Battle Tower rules or alike. But that's your opinion much like mine. I personally consider HGSS post game the best out of all them but I won't change your feelings.
@@ct2xperience749 Again, not really. And then, what's there to find may be pointless for others. At least there was some obligation to doing the Kanto one.
@@ct2xperience749 After you become champion, you'll be gifted with a ticket to explore the rest of Kanto, which happens to be literally connected to Johto unlike other regions so in a way, you're traveling to another part of Johto: its sister. -You can get the other legendary cover Pokemon during your travel to Kanto. -You can also fight your rival a couple more times along with rematches at the League Lobby. -You also unlock the Battle Frontier from Platinum. -Also like I said, exploring Kanto. Which includes taking on the Kanto Gym Leaders. -There's also optional cruise battles with S.S. Aqua. -Same with Pokegear optional battles. -You also get to fight Red after acquiring all badges and teaching Mt. Silver's peak along with rematches. -Also rematches with gym leaders that don't force you to play in Battle Tower rules. -Also legendaries to capture in both regions. -Pokeathlon's Post game cups -Easy to get Gift Pokemon -Unlocking GB sounds and a classic radio station after collecting all badges. And possibly more. But dude, don't bother trying to correct me or alike. Nothing you say will convince me BW2 was better. After all, I haven't been trying to convince the guy HGSS was better especially when I said I respected his opinion and said my stuff was an opinion.
This is what happens when you make base games and dont add a third installment or sequel. XY* was desperate for one, and a lot of leftover stuff that could be content for a third game ended up in later games. Its why till this day people still talk about a Pokemon Z version needing to come out 2 gens later
@@rocketeer9183 That game is asking for a south Kalos DLC or something. Heck, Black and White had a whole new part of the region to explore, why not XY?
@@akl2k7 You don't even know how much I would have loved that. Long story short : I live in the part of France that is not represented in the map of Kalos whatsoever, but when I saw the train station in the city that stands for Lyon, I thought it would lead to a post game area based around here and got hyped (since irl Lyon is like ...... the gateway to the south east, it's the only place by which trains can go down due to the different mountain chains). I got really bummed afterwards when I discovered it was closed and that we couldn't even get a third installment that adds this train :(
Unless you do a "Non Transport Whiteout Clause" (You lose, but don't Whiteout and go to a center), the Crown Tundra is pretty much off limits for Nuzlocke's!
I legit have 200 hours in yokai watch 3 and still havent cleared the entire post game. I wish pokemon focused more on the post game, too. I dont think we've had a good post game since gen 5
I think what people want from a post-game isn't just "more content" but instead *the idea that the adventure isn't over* Why post-games where you explore new areas as a sort of "second quest" (Johto, Unova) are at a higher place than all those where you do fetch quests on already-seen places (literally every single "Episodic" post-game since X & Y)
No doubt that B2&W2 is pretty much the best. Sadly it was the end of the 2D era at that time and I miss it. Luckily I still have my US&UM games(my 2nd favorite generation game) to enjoy with, so much nostalgia in the post-game.
Emma/Essentia was pretty wasted imo, she's a pretty interesting character and a potentially dangerous antagonist (she can double as anyone and steal their Pokemon teams) that would've brought some flare into the main story. Heck, even the SWSH weirdos, for how goofy and dumb they were, they were miles better than freaking Team Yell and Macro Cosmos...
imo team yell is a bootleg team skull they tried to replicate what made team skull great but failed and what we got is soulless team that are a bunch of simps to a girl with less personality then a quagsire
Tbh, it took me a second to even remember who macro cosmos were cuz no attention was ever brought to them except through trainer class, which most people ignore
I really like the Looker missions from X and Y. Its not the most exiting postgame but has a really cool story and atmosphere doing detective work. Solving small cases, finding gang members, chasing unknown criminals and the like. I also feel it does a great job avoiding the delta/UB mission problem of needing to fly everywhere because it all takes place in Lumiose city.
I still say Black 2 & White 2 has the best post game out of any Pokemon games. While stuff like Battle Frontier, revisiting Kanto after your quest in Johto, traveling the rest to Pony Island with Battle Tree or traveling to Semi Island was nice, they don't come nearly as close as the amount of contents, side stuff and other activities that is as fun as Black 2 & White 2 postgame has. I'm one of the few who doesn't give an crap about the Battle Frontier ( no offense ). Revisiting Kanto after Johto felt more like an continuation rather than an postgame; which is not an big problem and it is nice to revisited Kanto again. Though they could've made the region much better. The rest is fine. Though I hate for an fact that u have to get every Sinnoh Dex to unlock the postgame. Glad Gen. 5 hadn't brought that back.
Considering Let’s Go says Red & Blue had their journey several years ago, but Mina is present, let’s just treat it like the Buu Saga in Future Trunks’s timeline. Delayed action.
Gen 3 had roaming legend, Rayquaza, the Regi trio, and completely optional areas left to explore. Emerald added being able to get Kyogre/Groudon and the Battle Frontier
The reason she's Green in Let's Go is that Red, Blue and her are all based on the manga versions of the characters, not the game versions. They all look a good bit different from their game versions for the same reason.
@Anthony O. This the manga has nothing to do with Red, Blue and Green in let’s GO. They where all based on their original designs so “Leaf” being Green is just what she probably would’ve been called had she existed in the gameboy era.
The B2/W2 postgame had me playing my longest save file I've ever put into a pokemon game. I usually didn't care too much about trying to catch everything or do all the postgame but for some reason that battle tower or whatever it was had me hooked. Had my most diverse team, only time I've levelled pokemon to level 100 without emulator speed up functions. Edit: Also just naturally coming across Crasher Wake and a bunch of the legendaries was fun. Felt like there was plenty of places to explore.
lumineon was the last pokémon i had to “see” back when i played through Diamond for the first time! didn’t know where to find the trainer so i just got one myself by training a finneon
It never felt right to me to consider going back to Kanto as post game content in GSC/HGSS. I never feel satisfied after beating johto because it is so short and the pacing is so strange, I only feel like I've played half of a game lol. gens 3-5 main campaign are all nearly twice as long/big as the johto section, so it feels right to me to consider beating kanto part of the main quest in those games. and in GSC kanto was completely gutted anyway so it's like you get 1 short region and half of another region that's basically just a boss rush.
I grew up with Ruby and FireRed. My favorite thing to do after beating the game is getting out Pokémon I caught but didn't use in the Elite Four from the PC and training them against Pokémon their level until they can beat the Elite Four, or are at least fully evolved. Because of this "post-game" I do, I haven't enjoyed the ending of White or X as much as I could. The other main series game I have is HeartGold, which should have enough stuff for me to really like it, but the rematches in that game are quite limited, which I don't like.
Think what is forgotten to say about emerald battle frontier was that they were all unique in their challenges. It wasnt just fight trainers and get from point a to b there were challenges in them.
While Ruby and Sapphire don't have much stuff unlocked after the main game, the Hoenn region still has a ton of stuff to explore and do like Abandoned Ship, New Mauville, all the side paths and catching the Regis. Of course those features were already unlocked during the main game so they don't count as post-game but I think many players still do them after the league. Anyway, thank you for a really good video! :)
this also benefited greatly from the lack of general information available at the time, you couldn't just whip out your phone and look stuff up. most info was from word of mouth or official guides. i remember having to print out a short guide for the regis at the school library to bring home with me.
@@Nick-sr4fe I'll live honestly but, I'm disappointed still it's like dang, at the very least they gave us the option to be able to battle the gym leaders again.
Heartgold and Soulsilver post game was so fun plus you can catch A LOT of Legendaries! Mewtwo, Zapdos and his friends, Lugia AND Ho-oh, Entei and the dogs to name a few. Not only you explore Kanto and beat the gyms but you catch legendaries. That's amazing :D
THAT LUMINEON CALLOUT LMAO brother on my first play through as a child, when I found out that was the only thing I haven’t seen, that was my same reaction.
You're really gonna diss the Battle Frontier and Delta Episode for being full of pointless, mindless battles when that's literally all HGSS Kanto is? Come on, man. That meteor cutscene was insane.
HG/SS is my favorite because Gold was my first Pokemon game. I have a Cyndaquil tattoo, and love everything about gen 2. (except grinding for Red) HG/SS added a lot of stuff I adored. Especially the following mechanic.
So I'm 31. I just watched this video to figure out which game I should play on emulator first (cause my main complaint is always lack of endgame content), looked at your username, and realized how frickin cool it is that I'm learning stuff about pokemon from someone [presumably] born in 1998. I used to love teaching my little bro about pokemon, and now decades later, the younger people are teaching me!! Idk, that's just really neat for some reason, I would have never imagined that pokemon would still be a thing (or that people would still be playing the old games so much!) 🤗
When I first completed SoulSilver and found out I could go to Kanto, I screamed in glee. I was gaping the whole time in S.S. Aqua and when I reached Vermillion I felt like crying.
Eh. I couldn't care less about it. I rather have them PWT, White Treehollow or Black Tower related stuff and other battle facilities over the Battle Frontier anyday.
I actually really like the post-game of XY. I know it's not much, but looking for mega stones all over the region in a limited amount of time is fun to me and the Looker missions are one of my favorite things to do in all of the Pokémon games.

I think you did Emerald a bit wrong. It has a very different kind of post game but I think it has a certain charme, because nothing is explained anywhere, you get to explore so many new things, some of them can technically be accessed before finishing, but the riddles around the regi, finding the 2nd fossil, re-battling different trainers around thd map, catching Kyogre and Groudon etc. were a very enjoyable time for me, especially in times where game solutions were not as readily available as they are now.
When I played sword after seeing how easy the games were I set some rules -I have to catch every Pokemon on every route before each gym challenge -I personally do not like the galar starters so I traded my LVL 5 shiny torchic to SwSh to replace my starter -No dynamaxing/gmaxing -I have to max out battle tower before isle of armour -I have to complete Pokedex for both galar and isle of armour to continue to the crown tundra This made the game a lot more fun
@@treeman73272 Yeah, but only if you ignore the natural pacing of the game. After you beat the 8th gym, the natural progression would be reach Ever Grand City, not explore all the region again after exploring and finding a very well hidden diving spot in route 134 where you unlock the Regis

Me a intellectual: gen 3 doesn't Need postgame since Pokémon Emerald is the best of all time and even After years there are plenty of things to be discovered
Only ones I have a problem with in this vid are Hoenn (ORAS) and Alola (USUM). ORAS had, in my opinion, one of the best post-game stories in the Delta Episode and I spent countless hours trying to find all the legendaries. USUM also has an amazing post-game. Sure it might get repetitive if you play it for about 6 months straight but it’s fun nonetheless. The ultra wormholes were an amazing idea for a legendary catching gimmick. Also, I tried so hard to find Guzzlord for so long. I think they need more credit.
The emerald battle frontier may not be for everyone but it is by far the most challenging and rewarding content ever made in a pokemon game, requiring serious EV training, IV breeding and proper team construction. The next best in game challenge is platinum's frontier which is still "emerald light".
yeah JR is clearly pretty biased against battle stuff here and it's a bummer - it is pretty much a consensus that Emerald's Battle Frontier is an absolute GEM when it comes to postgame.
I mean lets be real here prior to the many things gen 6 did to make Competitive Pokemons more accessible did properly less than 5% of the player base actually do any of this. Meaning that especially back than was Emeralds Battle Frontier for most players just dead wight as what it requiriere to be beaten was way to obscure for over 90% of players to know about let alone being invested in doing the breading and training with the near complete lack of visual feat-back for any of the mechanics.
Paldea postgame is a little lacking atm too with just one gym leader rematch and no elite 4 rematches. You can catch the ruin legends and the second bike Pokémon but that’s about it. Again with the DLC…wish they’d just give it all to us at once. Legends Arceus was middle of the road. There’s the Volo quest which ends in a battle that’s tough if you aren’t prepared, and the Enamorus quest and a few other legends to catch plus whatever side quests you didn’t already finish. Other than that you’re mostly repeatedly catching Pokémon to fill the dex so you can battle Arceus. You can also rematch noble Pokémon but you don’t really get anything iirc. The daybreak update did help some though, I’ll give them that. Bdsp was sad cause they did the DP version with no Platinum additions.
I really like the X and Y postgame. The Looker missions are a really nice way to bring closure to Team Flare and Emma is such a great character. It’s so sad to see her beg Looker to stay with her and Mimi because they finally have a family.
I will say it has the biggest post game, but not the best because most of it has you doing the same thing you did in the main game. It feels like an extension to the main game though the majority of it isn't interesting.
@@ct2xperience749 I disagree. Comquest has you doing mini stories with different characters. Imagine that translated to the main games. See, adding a bunch of story stuff doesn't really do it for me for a postgame. It can make it more memorable, of course, but things like the SwSh postgame story and the Delta Episode, they all eventually end just like the main story. Even exploring new areas comes to an end. For me, I enjoy those parts, but the thing that makes or breaks a postgame is the replay-ability aspect of it. Battle facilities that I can keep playing or areas like the sports arenas in BW or the gym leader rematches in HGSS add a ton of replayability
All in Gen 6, in my opinion: - When I done playing XY: Is it it? The first gen of 3ds main series pokemon game. Just that much? - When I done playing ORAS: Oh my god, the post game was absolutely attractive, from the post credit to the space trip with Rayquaza. Satisfying! Maybe just miss the battle frontier. The ORAS’s delta episode was not too long, not too short. It’s enough to be memorable!
Not gonna lie, I enjoyed SWSH's post-game a lot. I love how it provided closure for Hop and Sonia, and how it switches things up with you not catching the main Legendary during the main story

The Sevii Island postgame seems to get slept on a lot but people don't realize how hype it was having a sort of mini-Johto region to explore in a chain of islands. Am I weird for considering Kanto (in regards to gen 2 and their remakes) a part of the main campaign? Whenever I go through them I don't consider the game beaten until I fight all 8 Kanto gyms then the elite four one more time. So idk I wouldn't say Kanto is post game.
Hey JPR, I just wanted to tell you, how much I like your content. A few weeks ago I passed by your channel and got hooked, though I am a fairly mute subscriber; thus this comment. You have so much things I like. First off your intro and outro: Just Mezase Pokémon x3 But I also really like, how they both fit together. Especially in the end, when your avatar is holding his cap in his hand, kind of like saying "so, that's all for now, folks; see ya next time". It's a sweet idea. Furthermore I like the content itself. You always dive a bit deeper into the themes, than one would expect. You're also not merely stating the obvious for some quick clicks. Resulting in me hearing something new and interesting, every time I come by. Last but not least I like your style and humor. There are some times, where you got some genuine laughs out of me, so that's always a lot of fun. So: Keep up the good work and stay healthy. Best regards
and to SV - there is no post game - enjoy endless raids and online, two things already possible before that as u wait for the $30 over priced dlc -i mean "post game" pokemon is such a mess, and really is just a bad brand at this point
First time I hear someone say the Battle Frontier is repetitive. Sure, it's all about battle series. But battling is what you keep doing in the entire game. Besides, each "attraction" offfers distinct rules, unlike the Battle Tower. I can understand disliking Battle Towers for that reason, but the Battle Frontier is a dense set of diverse battle types. It's _the_ place to go for new battle experience. Also the first time I hear someone say the Delta Episode wasn't interesting. It not only started the Multiverse (linking literally every save, every version and every generation altogether), it also heavily tied ORAS to XY since it explains where Mega-Evolution comes from, making the entire 6G as a single story (since the weapon that ended the war is what fractured the Pokemon universe). That's something no other generation has ever done. The postgame in XY was interesting too, Emma's story is very cool and it was a brillant way to have us explore the entirety of Lumiose. I thought I had seen all of that city when I reached the end, but the postgame proved me wrong. It was a short one, but an interesting one. By the way, XY aren't easy games. That's a myth started by people who use the Multi Exp and then complain about it. It _started the trend_ to make easier games by introducing new "difficulty mechanics", but these are not mandatory. Disable the Multi Exp and you'll be 10 levels below your enemies during the whole second half of the game. Source : I've been replaying all generations lately, and I'm currently on XY. Korrina is the only insult in terms of difficulty since she can't even _damage_ ghost types (and that's _if_ you have a Ghost type in your team). Olympia kicked my ass with her Calm Mind sweep, and Lysandre made me shiver with his Mega-Gyarados... until he used Outrage, which gave me an opening to launch my Fairy Type and finish him, but aside from that, it was a close call. But we can all agree that postgames in Pokemon usually make or break the game. The SwSh postgame is an absolute joke, I don't understand what they intended with those uninteresting lunatics... But at least there's a lot to explore in the DLCs (which I do count as postgame as long as you play after the game). Personally, the Delta Episode is my favourite postgame. It was one of the best stories the franchise gave us (actually THE best before Sun&Moon came out right after it). Then there's Emerald, because the Battle Frontier is the one thing you show to anyone saying Pokemon games are easy. Then there's Platinum, because there's so much to explore _and_ another Battle Frontier. Then there's FRLG with the Sevii Island and the first "Super Elite 4". As for Swsh and Let's Go... these postgames can go to hell.
I am gonna put this in watch later in case of spoilers of the unova games since I have never beat them but I will come back and watch them once I beat them.
XY's postgame is underrated, as the moving story with Looker and Emma is amazing, and really, playing as a detective was fun. So much so I would have expanded upon it for the main game for a hypothetical Z version. Working for Looker while we investigate Team Flare, going to other locations on official business we might have bene locked out of, all while Emma is helping us, all while unknowingly falling under Team Flare's control.

I would make certain techniques for a new gen pokemon - A New villian team that actually brings a REAL Threat, every fight they using good tactics - The Leader of them is stronger than the actually champion and is the superboss in the Post Game - you fought just his commanders & his allready op right hand in the main game, and the Villian Team story will be a red thread till the the superboss fight - The Leader defeated the Champion in the Story - Post Game is as much big or bigger than the main Game, with many NEW areas, and high Level wild pokemon as pro Trainer - many dungeons with every pokemon you couldn't catch in the Main Game - new Evolutions for weak stats pokemon but as well alternative types for weak hybrid types - More than 150 new pokemon. 200 - actually almost every pokemon is useful, many of them are badass or just cute but good designed - several new pokemon of the dragonite like pokemons. Garshamp or metagross, desportar for Example, not the type but the stat points (what I mean is the 1899 stats pokemon. The non-legandary pokemon that is always the strongest from the stats in his era. Experienced players know what I mean) - COOP Missions & areas with unique zones pro Trainer for 2V2 WITH Exp! - An Arena where you can fight against all former champs & gym leaders like in black & white 2
I think a super easy/simple post game would be for every gym be like a gym and always (AFTER the Elite4 / Champion fight ) be open for rematch where their pokemon are evolved and match your level or even level/stat squish you to 50/75/100 and you get special TMs/ExpCandy/Held Items. Have a tournament type mode similar to the anime / sword&sheild championship battles and you battle gym leaders and normal trainers that are just as strong. Re-match with trainers that also level up to you. Have a Gamefreak approved Randomizer to randomize Pokemon. Battles with Totem-like pokemon that are 75/85/95/100 that will call for help or even run away and you have to track them down they have more health and other stats than that of the normal pokemon at that level. A large dungeon/tower that is rogue-like you can only use items you find in it to heal your pokemon you can find rare pokemon or ev/stat wise rare pokemon that are maybe more common, floor 100+ could have a 5% extra shiny and now to progress you have battle another player (or if it's an older game and there are no others you fight ghost data of a player) each floor above 100 gets 0.1% better up to say 15% shiny. this has taken me only the length of video and about 5 more minutes to come up with so surely those at Gamefreak have done this also but they don't want to give the players much else to do or don't want to because ... why when they can do bare min =/ I know some of these are really basic and mostly in some other games but it should all be there in all other titles would of rather this than the swordbert and sheildbert or whatever they were that could of easily been added through the main story with a little rewrite just wasn't intresting imo.
Things like the delta episode and the SwSh royal dudes have never felt like post games to me. They’re sort of just separate stories, or a continuation of the main game. And then they end, and your postgame is downgraded to whatever is left.

And Black 2 & White 2 mixed the old and newer ones was an nice call.
it isn't much of an issue when i replay now, because i always fight every trainer anyway since i'm gonna need all the exp i can get to fight cynthia
but it definitely was confusing when i skipped a bunch of trainers as a kid. i would have to go through every route with fisherman/swimmers just to find that one trainer with finneon (plus i don't think bulbapedia or serebii was as refined as it is now, or maybe i just didn't know they existed)
Hi wikiuser92 im your fan
Personally I prefer the B2W post-game over the HGSS. The exploration in that seems a lot better than in Kanto where all the routes are basically the same.
And it Restricts the Potential of Johto

XY ‘post game’ is probably the most insulting thing I’ve ever experienced
IT'S like XY doesn't even have a proper post game
This is what happens when you make base games and dont add a third installment or sequel. I got really bummed afterwards when I discovered it was closed and that we couldn't even get a third installment that adds this train :(

The team yell reveal is pretty funny
imo team yell is a bootleg team skull they tried to replicate what made team skull great but failed and what we got is soulless team that are a bunch of simps to a girl with less personality then a quagsire
Don’t you talk about my beautiful baby like that! Quagsire has plenty of personality. Go play Snap for proof
Tbh, it took me a second to even remember who macro cosmos were cuz no attention was ever brought to them except through trainer class, which most people ignore
The XY manga used her pretty decently I'd say
I really like the Looker missions from X and Y. Its not the most exiting postgame but has a really cool story and atmosphere doing detective work. Solving small cases, finding gang members, chasing unknown criminals and the like.
I also feel it does a great job avoiding the delta/UB mission problem of needing to fly everywhere because it all takes place in Lumiose city.
The 3 Pokémon games with the best post game is Black & White 2, Heartgold & SoulSilver & Ultra Sun & Moon.

Yup, ORAS is the game I have put most time into - there are loads of things to do even after the Delta episode
@@brandonm8901and that is what specifically?
It’s so sad to see her beg Looker to stay with her and Mimi because they finally have a family.
that part broke my heart, i felt so bad for her, i hope she gets a new story in another game.
I love that not being able to find lumineom was not just a me thing back in the day, I remember it being the last pokemon I saw in the dex
Generation 2 and 5 has fantastic post games! I love them!
It's funny if you take advantage of the battle Chateau during the story in XY then you can over power yourself really fast.
It's XY, just PLAYING the game makes you OP. XD
Best Pokemon Postgame, hands down, was Conquest
I will say it has the biggest post game, but not the best because most of it has you doing the same thing you did in the main game. It feels like an extension to the main game though the majority of it isn't interesting.
@@ct2xperience749 I disagree. Comquest has you doing mini stories with different characters. Imagine that translated to the main games. Like once you beat the game, you can either opt to continue playing with your character or you can play as NPCs who already have their terms or have little stories going on that don't rely on the main stories char
@@JadoDog well the mini stories is what refreshing the experience, but what I mean is in terms of gameplay. Is it vastly different from story to story?
@@ct2xperience749 Oh no, and in THAT sense, I get it. But for me. I love love love Comquest's gameplay. So more of it was just icing and cherries on a delicious cake
Mystery dungeon explorers is probably my favourite post game, and insurgence (fan game) has some good post game quests
All in Gen 6, in my opinion:
- When I done playing XY: Is it it? The first gen of 3ds main series pokemon game. Just that much?
- When I done playing ORAS: Oh my god, the post game was absolutely attractive, from the post credit to the space trip with Rayquaza. Satisfying! Maybe just miss the battle frontier. The ORAS’s delta episode was not too long, not too short. It’s enough to be memorable!
Not gonna lie, I enjoyed SWSH's post-game a lot. I love how it provided closure for Hop and Sonia, and how it switches things up with you not catching the main Legendary during the main story
I feel the same way, but I guess for people who aren’t invested in the characters or the story won’t care for it. I still liked it though
I definitely agree with this, and I also really enjoyed fighting the dynamax Pokémon with the gym leaders in the other gyms since it felt like a series of boss fights and it was pretty fun
Fun fact, there’s many areas in the DLC and crown tundra which cannot be visited before becoming champion, so SWSH have a great postgame content and postgame areas to visit in the postgame in the crown tundra.
@@kerrywien6775 I 100% agree with this

JPR on Sinnoh: It has some legendaries and the Battle Frontier!! :D
Pokemon sword and shield post game to me was ok, i spent a lot of time trying to evolve and befriend my kubfu, so he kinda became my new favorite pokemon, so that's neat. Tundra gave me a chance to get naganadel for my team and catch some of my favorite legendaries like Landorus and Buzzwole.. but that's mostly it.

Honestly the ORAS post game wasn’t as bad as people make it out to be. Sure, there wasn’t a battle frontier, but the delta episode was amazing and the battle resort was still a great location with a lot to do. Too over hated imo.
And there is a lot of rematches, including the elite 4.
We just could've had more, as Emerald already had some other stuff.
ORAS defo isn't bad, mostly because of Dex Nav, Soaring, (upgraded) Contests and Mirage Spots.
however no Battle Frontier is a HUGE sore spot :-(
The Sevii Island postgame seems to get slept on a lot but people don't realize how hype it was having a sort of mini-Johto region to explore in a chain of islands. Gamefreak basically did the Johto-Kanto postgame of Gen 2 in reverse which was really cool. Not to mention giving Moltres a proper dungeon instead of being shoehorned into Victory Road like it was in Gen 1 and Let's Go.
I like how hgss's post game is another frickin region. Best postgame.
Just saying, the Crown Tundra story progresses even if you lose to Peony

You forgot about the battle subway, the daily quests, and best of all the theatre in black and white 2. I spent so many hours in that game
I like how you named Lumineon of all Pokémon fro the Sinnoh Pokédex... it was the same one I had to find when I figured out you needed to see them all.
Gen 5 is built different 💪
Gen 5 music hits different, or so I've heard.
@@robertlupa8273 which did you hear? Unova's music or people saying it hits different?
great video idea! i just ranked them all in my head before watching the video
Am I weird for considering Kanto (in regards to gen 2 and their remakes) a part of the main campaign? Whenever I go through them I don't consider the game beaten until I fight all 8 Kanto gyms then the elite four one more time. So idk I wouldn't say Kanto is post game.
That's how I feel, the game itself is just so long I'd still say its good
Yeah. I get more of an continuation rather than postgame.
I'm in the same boat, the only part of HGSS I really consider postgame is battling Red.
Hey JPR,
I just wanted to tell you, how much I like your content.
Don't wanna be that guy. But didn't Crystal have the first version of the Batte Frontier? Or am I tripping?

pokemon is such a mess, and really is just a bad brand at this point
I’ve just noticed your character is wearing crocs in the end of your videos...new favorite channel.
Soo u don't like hoenn battle frontier but u like sinnoh battle frontier?
Yes and that's based
I am gonna put this in watch later in case of spoilers of the unova games since I have never beat them but I will come back and watch them once I beat them.
I'll do that for XY. Those Looker missions sound promising. That character with a big E on their face looks cool too.

It's underhated, actually. The Looker missions, while fun, are short af and after that there's really not a whole lot to do, specially compared to other games in the series (B2W2 and HGSS come to mind)

Confession time:
Did you _actually_ play any battle frontier-esque challenges or do you just smile and nod when people gush about them?
Battle Factory and Maison/Tree have given me hours but I'll pass on the others
I did in platinum and lost because I got full paralysis four times in a row while my opponent didn’t get it at all even though I spammed thunder wave

only did the Frontier in Emerald
lost a year and a half to emerald's post game...
would absolutely do it again
I would make certain techniques for a new gen pokemon
- A New villian team that actually brings a REAL Threat, every fight they using good tactics
- The Leader of them is stronger than the actually champion and is the superboss in the Post Game
- you fought just his commanders & his allready op right hand in the main game, and the Villian Team story will be a red thread till the the superboss fight
- The Leader defeated the Champion in the Story
- Post Game is as much big or bigger than the main Game, with many NEW areas, and high Level wild pokemon as pro Trainer
- many dungeons with every pokemon you couldn't catch in the Main Game
- new Evolutions for weak stats pokemon but as well alternative types for weak hybrid types
- More than 150 new pokemon. 200
- actually almost every pokemon is useful, many of them are badass or just cute but good designed
- several new pokemon of the dragonite like pokemons. Garshamp or metagross, desportar for Example, not the type but the stat points (what I mean is the 1899 stats pokemon. The non-legandary pokemon that is always the strongest from the stats in his era. Experienced players know what I mean)
- COOP Missions & areas with unique zones pro Trainer for 2V2 WITH Exp!
- An Arena where you can fight against all former champs & gym leaders like in black & white 2
I see quantity over quality here

A large dungeon/tower that is rogue-like you can only use items you find in it to heal your pokemon you can find rare pokemon or ev/stat wise rare pokemon that are maybe more common, floor 100+ could have a 5% extra shiny and now to progress you have battle another player (or if it's an older game and there are no others you fight ghost data of a player) each floor above 100 gets 0.1% better up to say 15% shiny.
this has taken me only the length of video and about 5 more minutes to come up with so surely those at Gamefreak have done this also but they don't want to give the players much else to do or don't want to because ... why when they can do bare min =/
I know some of these are really basic and mostly in some other games but it should all be there in all other titles would of rather this than the swordbert and sheildbert or whatever they were that could of easily been added through the main story with a little rewrite just wasn't intresting imo.
Things like the delta episode and the SwSh royal dudes have never felt like post games to me. They’re sort of just separate stories, or a continuation of the main game. And then they end, and your postgame is downgraded to whatever is left.
