How is this news? Almost all locos are left running all the time. You have to in the winter as the blocks have no antifreeze. Don’t move near the tracks if you don’t like the sounds. The railroad was there before you so don’t complain.
@@1Nanerz Could’ve just been sold for a good price, or they didn’t know the tracks were there until too late, possibly both. Well as a railfan, the true reason is the locomotive in question is a RCL Locomotive (Remote Controlled Locomotive), and the unit in question a CSXT GP40-3 And MUST Turn it self on periodically because if I didnt the train has a risk of running off and causing a derailment. The idle technology is a bit how we say annoying but it dosent really compair to old locomotives like Dash 9's or 8's which used to (if in storage) run all day and all night for days or even weeks at a time. This, factually, is why the locomotive has to run.
That's fine if it needs to run but the RR needs to respect the local population and run it somewhere else. It is not right that the people around there have their quality of life ruined because of business decisions made by the company.
@minerran Well maybe they needed to rethink there decision before they moved next to the railroads the railroads were there way before anyone else was living there. I think people need to stop complaining about everything as well.
Did they think buying a house next to train tracks was going to be excruciatingly quiet? Sheesh. Be thankful for rail since it’s how we get a lot of our goods.
Trains are awesome if you don't like trains move! If you want to pay for the diesel fuel to start one of those gp38-3s then do it or shut up and leave it idling
And fumes don't really come from locomotives while there idling... lamo, ignerent fools!!! Your car produces more fumes then a locomotive idling! O and if you want to use that Hissing sound against me... it's the air system computer regulating air threw the whole entire locomotive
Then maybe move somewhere AWAY from the Railroad tracks. It’s probably running because they don’t want the engine to freeze. Plus, it’s parked for yard duties or local duties probably.
Bruh. You moved right next to the rail line and now you are complaining about a locomotive idling. Also yeah no crap it’s owned by CXS it has the company name on it!
Well kinda. There is no reason for it to be left idling for hours on end. In looking, it looks like it's remote controlled and they probably have no way to start it remotely so they just leave it running. What a waste of fuel though.
False. The amount of diesel used at idling is less than the amount it takes to start the engine up constantly. Plus the wear and tear on all the components at start up.
any diesel has a hard time starting. because there is so much pressure, that has to get built up to run its easier on them to just run all the time instead and it uses less fuel. just the way they are

Exactly
Why trash aren’t known to be smart

Love the sound of the locomotive. I probably would try to get on and blow the horn.
Better than listening to some dog barking intermittently all night. Locomotive idling is like white noise, like having a fan running.
i wish i had a locomotive in my backyard idling, nothing like the smell of diesel
I love that smell, also pit bulls barking at gunshots.
I prefer steam

The railroad tracks were there before all these people were born and before they purchased their houses.

It auto starts and shutdowns I'm a locomotive eng the unit starts and stops on its own
