I was at school when it happened had just got the imperial system about worked out and along comes metric. Metric was a lot easier to learn. Now I talk in inches and Quid dollars and millimetres like its all one system. I confuse the hell out of the young blokes at the hardware shop. John
I like your videos John especially the fencing pliers upgrade my father used to do it with a fork stick love to catch up with you and have a working holiday over a weekend camp oven dinner and I get to learn about farming life first hand and I'll put the camp oven dinner on
Great video John and a great tool, thank you for sharing! I’m in the UK and I’m going to make one for my fencing jobs, I know some have said ‘what’s wrong with strainers’ (and no offence to them) but this will definitely have a place with my other fencing tools, it’s a nice simple tool to chuck in the tool bag for quick no fuss repairs without messing about with chain stainers etc while on the go….great idea 👍🏻
Good video. You know how fix fence and You know how to make something to help You fix fence--pretty good combination. Why do most of You folks from Australia always wear long sleeve shirts??? It makes us Americans break out in a hot sweat just watching You folks, but We thank the world of You all anyway.
I dont Wear long sleeves all the time but I do when fencing I get scratched from the barb wire. A lot of Australians wear long sleeves because of the sun. We are in the tropics and skin cancer is a bit of an issue. John
Yeah I don't think it will replace regular strainers over long runs where you need to stretch a long way you need something with a long pull. What got me thinking was a bloke from overseas commented on one of my video's and said that normal fence strainers were not available in the country he lived in. John
A John a old bushy show me a great tool . Make a T out of half inch pipe drill hole about 8 inch up from bottom of T now you can loop the barb wire thread plain wire through loop into T peace an winded back along barb wire till every thing tight pull back with two hands along plain wire and tie off.good luck.
Hi John. Here's a couple of ideas you could make easily. They make life a bit easier when you're fencing by yourself. To stop a wire spinner tangling, tech screw about a foot of poly pipe to the bottom 4 pipes that the wire roll sits on & push about a foot of conduit on the 4 top arms. Stops the loose wire loops tangling. & i use a lenght of old hills hoist clothesline pipe with one end plugged & a lenght of conduit that slides telescopically in it to measure a top rail for fence end assemblies or any long lenghts between posts. I jam a bit of green stick or bracken between the conduit & pipe when i pull the conduit out between the 2 strainer posts then measure the lenght of the pipe & conduit for the exact lenght of the top rail. Get what i mean? Have a crack at them next rainy day. Great videos mate. Stacky.
IF necessity really is the mother of invention farmers are the father I recon. Thanks for the tip Stacky my brain is thinking about this idea already. John
Nice job and great to see you wearing your Chinese safety boots while out on the job. I’d like to make one based on your design, have you posted any dimensions anywhere or do I just wing it?
No nothing wrong with strainers. I had a bloke from overseas commented that strainers weren't available in the country he lived in and even if they were they couldn't afford them so it set me thinking. John
Thanks for showing it Mate👍
Thanks for watching. John
Love your work! Thanks for the video, I'll have a go at making one, cheers.
Thanks for watching. John
Great work there John. Good to see you've still got an inch ruler; Australia went metric 50 years ago.

Good, simple idea; thanks for sharing it, look forward to seeing any improvements you make too. Cheers.

You can't beat the old camp oven. Your suggestion sounds good except the working part I like the holiday bit better. John
Beauty! Love it mate!
Thanks a ton! And thanks for watching. John

another great tool where do all the idea's come from.well done john stay safe .. gary
The ideas come from my overactive brain. I don't seem to be able to look at things without asking myself could I improve on that? John
Nice one. Not as easy as the regular fence strainer, but virtually cost nothing and does the job well.

nice job its really smart idea. thanks for your keen dedication. Cheers

Yes I have tried that years ago. John

No no dimensions I built it by the that looks about right rule. John
Good work developing a tool, but what is wrong with strainers?

👍😀. John
Great idea. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! John
G'day mate, great and handy tool well done and God bless you guys. 🦘👍
Thanks Josh. Hope you are doing well. John
Where can I get this tool bro ? Thanks 🙏
To my knowledge you would have to make it. I invented the idea and made it. It is not a copy of a tool that existed at the time. John
Draper makes a to similar principal
finishing of like u do when wire gets aged it wont undo
Thanks for the advice. John
