- Watch as I carry out a full system upgrade on this VW Caddy. The system's focus is sound quality, whilst maintaining an OEM appearance throughout. A double din stereo has been added to bring added functionality to the vehicle, whilst benefitting from a fully active, 5 speaker set up, powered off an 8 channel amplifier with a built-in DSP.
This video highlights parts of an installation that the customer doesn't typically get to see. There are steps that can be taken during an installation that can naturally improve the performance of the equipment fitted, along with steps taken that ensure that everything is completely reversible and the integrity of the vehicle is maintained.
This approach is something that I ensure is applied to all installations, no matter what the scale of the installation is. Not all of the steps taken 'need' to be applied in the manner that I have installed them in this installation, however, I believe that if there's something that I can do during the installation that will benefit the customer and bring value to the system, then it's my duty to do so. There is a personal enjoyment and sense of achievement when I know that I have done my job to the best of my ability and know that the system installed is the best it possibly can be.

What a professional job. Thorough, detailed and you are handy with the 3D printing. I was wanting to see the sub installation and eq tuning for finished system, particularly cross over tunings. Great attention to detail I was already thinking about how you would get the extra insulation to prevent sound loss maybe like a foam, then when you made the comments at 6:10. Attention to detail pays dividends. Graet work :)

Absolutely right, the manner of installation will directly impact the overall result and longevity of any upgrade, it's the small things that will make the biggest difference. This system isn't overly expensive (obviously that's subjective) but I know the equipment in this Caddy is performing to the best it can with really good results.

I’d love to film an entire build too, I’ve had to be choosy with which vehicles I can film on as most of the time the deadlines are tight so I know I’d struggle for time. Fortunately the few I have filmed were flexible so I was able to take e extra time to film.

Thanks Cary! Roughly, the equipment cost for this install was around £1300, that's speakers, amplifier, subwoofer, cabling and sound treatment. The customer supplied the stereo on this one but typically I'd say around £399.99 would get you a good stereo with CarPlay etc, like the Pioneer SPH-DA250DAB for example which is my go-to entry level stereo. The custom adapters, mounts etc will always vary depending on the requirements, then labour, which again depends on the brief. Hope that helps!
