    my father was in the navy in ww2 he's brothers were in the army ,he died an alcoholic just like his brothers i remember one day watching a ww2 documentary he went into he's room and i could hear him crying never talked much about ww2 and i believe most ww2 veterans didn't they just took it in they were men and wemen of a different Era whit more respect and dignity .

    But they survived - and that was no easy task - the last year in the war germany had 1 million fatalityes both military and civilian and god only Knows how many walked into captivitet in the russian occupied zones , and the killings did not stop for many years - gulag.

      it looks similar to Von Manstein but if you see the profile Mansteins nose was larger and more hooked.also Von Manstein was much taller than this guy appears to be. another point also that Von Manstein was captued by the British and not the Americans i beleive and held in a British pow camp at Luneberg.

    After this The two faced American and French who said in written pamphlets German soldiers would be protected after the war were murdered through starvation on the Marshes of the Rhein, read Other Losses, or google it. Then England and Canada turned a blind eye to the 1 million starved deaths.     US soldiers never had this humiliation... but when the Wehrmacht units still had their weaponry, we, Germans easily took them prisoner ... they were not brave, just brave then ...when the other side was disarmed ... weak, lots of bluster... but weak at heart

      Margot Hilaire My grandfather fought in both world wars and my mom was stationed in London in the WAVES. The German drs., fixed my grandfather's leg to perfection something the English drs.,could not do. He never uttered a bad word against the Germans. There was camps yes. Some were for thugs and communists. I believe the Red Cross when they said 387Jews died. Alfred Hitchock and Billy Wilder (Some Like it Hot) was there taking photos and I am sure a lot of those were poised to make it look more dramatic. I am sure you mean the German pows!

    The second World war began before 1939. It began on October 1, 1938, when Poland occupied and annexed part of the teshin Silesia (Zaolzie), Czechoslovakia, on November 24. In fact, this is the beginning of the war, although in Europe this inconvenient fact no one wants to ADMIT ! The conclusion is very simple-Europe before 1939 was terminally ill with fascism, it is sick with fascism since the time of the Inquisition when people burned at the stake. For Europe, such atrocities are considered normal !

      @@Troul478 Hitler und Stalin hatten Fehler gemacht hätte Stalin sich auf den Krieg Vorbereitet ,und hätte keine Säuberungen durchgeführt dann hätte dir Soviet Union nicht so viele Opfer zu beklagen.
