I'm really proud of this video and I think it is a transparent representation of my progression over the last year. I started from zero, with my previous bike experience being riding my little red and white Trek around my neighborhood. I think it's important to share the process of what it takes to become decent at a foreign skill. The process, in my opinion, is simply riding as much as possible and trying new features when you feel confident in your ability to do them. I have doubts and am often fearful before I attempt something new, but I will only do something if I know I have the ability to do it. And although I still consider myself a beginner, it's taken hundreds and hundreds of hours over the last year to become a somewhat competent rider. Let me know what you think about the video and this train of thought!
Your progression is very fast. You’d embarrass some people I’ve ridden with that have been riding 5 years and literally can’t do shit lol it’s crazy how those people exist but they do
Absolutely killing the game, H! Keep up the great work. What a great video, watching this progression was insane you've made an incredible amount of progress. I love to see it. (one of my favorite clips @ 1:38)
Hi i like you, have watched a million videos on all things mtb! But wow this is how 99.9% of us are, self taught. This is NOT just another mtb video but a very clear indication of your personal progression, i love the date time line info. Probably one of the best mtb vids i have seen as its so relatable
Thanks Brian. I’m really glad you like it. I thought it was really interesting to show what a normal person’s progression looks like. I’m not a professional, I’m just a guy trying to get better. I’m glad you found it relatable, and I hope other do, too!
Heck of a progression in a year. I just started riding a few months ago and have not hit anything big yet. I live in Olive Branch just south of Memphis and I found you from your Area 51 video. I'll have to go check that place out soon. You earned a sub from me!
Thanks I’ve been working hard at it. Keep riding and eventually you’ll hit a groove where you just feel like you’re getting better each time you ride. I appreciate the sub!
Thanks man! Just been doing a ton of riding and trying new stuff when I'm feeling good. Riding consistently has been the most important factor in my opinion. Appreciate your comment!
Dude that's super impressive!!! Keep it up! If you're looking for more jumps you need to come check out Ride Bham in Birmingham AL when it opens this fall. It's got the biggest jumps in the southeast
Thanks for the encouragement and thanks for the tip! When is it scheduled to open? Sorry for late reply... I try to get to all the comments but missed this one somehow
@@_Aitch_ They're aiming for October. Just keep an eye on their instagram or fb. I've been volunteering out there so I've gotten to ride it a few times and I am so excited for this park you have no idea lol
Good riding, I’ve also been riding MTB a little over a year. I raced motocross and hare scrambles for years, though. Looks like you’re starting to push the limits of the Spark. I bet a bike like an Ibis Ripmo would suit you well!
@@_Aitch_ Near Knoxville. I'm just tired of not being able to session anything at Bakers Creek except the stuff where everyone gathers around in the main area. I'm old, I dont want to pedal up that hill 5 times to session Cruze Valley. lol
@@_Aitch_ I want to do something other than Bakers Creek or Vee Hollow. It gets too crowded in the session areas for my taste. We are thinking about going to Jarrod's Place and just do a shuttle day. Your video on that makes that place look like its a blast.
That’s very fair. I know Baker can get really crowded on the weekends but to be fair, Baker is an awesome place to learn. It’s SO progressive. That asphalt drop into jump line is a great place to get comfortable. I agree, pedaling sucks, but that’s the trade off and the more you do it, the easier it gets. I’ll look into some stuff near Knox and see if I can come up with anything. Haven’t been to Vee Hollow yet so can’t give any input on that
Time for an all mountain rig 💪. Just sold my 2020 spark. Have had a stumpy evo for a year and I love it. Just got a V10 for next time I catch a case at jarrods 😜 🤙
Haha it was such a fun ride anyway! My toes disagreed by the end tho. I’ve been meaning to get back there but it’s quite a ways away from where I am now. Definitely will be back at some point
I had a gap semester in the fall and my final semester of college this spring. I traveled a lot in the fall and did what I could in the spring (traveled on weekends, spring break in Bentonville)… stuff like that. It’s going to be a lot more difficult to keep up the travel after this summer

That is a lot of progression in such a short time. I hate you. Lol Well done.
That poor little Trek has PTSD tho :(
Badass riding bro!
Thanks guys!

Way to go bro. Keep doing what ur doing.
quick progression! quality video, thanks for adding all the dates and locations. Gotta hit some of those.
Glad you appreciated the locations! I figured people might want to know where certain features were
Great progression man. This video helped me a lot finding some local trails. Keep up the content!
Thanks! I'm glad the video served an alternative purpose. I'll try to keep em coming
Great progression- really inspiring. Let’s go!
great video bro. been watching your content for a while now, great to see how quickly you progressed!

That's what I think when I watch his vids too. Hitting some of that chunk on the Spark has to be spicy
Thanks I’ve been sort of looking into a new bike but unless someone wants to send me $5k it’s probably not gonna happen anytime soon 😂
@@_Aitch_ Keep an eye on the used market. I’ve seen some killer deals come up. You gotta be ready to buy, or they’re gone.

Once again, another great vid. Nice progress man. I cant wait to get a little better with practice. Problem is, finding a place to practice.
Thanks! Just gotta look on Trailforks and see if there’s anything nearby. Where are you located?
