How to Jailbreak Your PS4 on Firmware 9.00 or Lower!

- This step-by-step guide will show you how to easily jailbreak a PlayStation 4 running firmware 9.00! This tutorial works for the original PS4, PS4 Slim, and PS4 Pro as long as the firmware 9.00 is installed on the system. You CANNOT downgrade your PS4 to a lower firmware, if you are on a higher firmware your only choices are to wait for further updates to come to higher firmwares or to purchase another PS4 on 9.00 or lower.
The method of installation covered here involves directing your PS4's DNS settings to Al Azif's PS4 Exploit Host which contains payloads needed to jailbreak the console. This video will will guide you through how to update your console's firmware, set up the jailbreak, block future firmware updates, as well as general usage with installing games or homebrew PKG files. This also covers how to utilize the caching option Al Azif's host provides, so you can completely disconnect your PS4 from any network and still use the browser to jailbreak your system if needed.

Its good to see high firmware jailbreaks it means its much easier to buy a ps4 of ebay and be able to jailbreak it theres a very good chance that someone who is selling their console hasn't played it in months therefore they may not of updated it i remember back in the day it was difficult to get a hold of a low firmware console

Only just recently exposed to HEN after picking up a slim PS3 followed your guide on that too, only used full CFW before. But with the cutoff being 9.00 turns out I have a standard PS4 and PS4 pro that are eligible! A very nice Christmas Present.

Had to use the furthest down usb port, or if its sitting horizontally, the usb port all the way to the right. Worked fine after that. The whole thing shut down and restarted and has the hen in the software information now. Thanks and great tutorial.

For flashing the img file, I like to use 'USB Image Tool' instead. It will only list flash media (flash drives or SD cards) so there is little worry about accidentaly overwriting your external hard drives. Anyways, Thanks for the tutorial. 👍

NOTE: There was something he didnt discuss here that happened to me that might happen to you. If you go to the webpage and click GoldHen and start the process and it says "Not Enough System Memory." This is NORMAL and just click ok and wait for the screen to popup the next step. Inster the USB Flash Drive and wait for it to say its unsupported and wait for it to make the notification go away. Remove the USB Flash Drive. Then click ok. You get ANOTHER "Not Enough System Memory." notification. AGAIN this is NORMAL. Click ok and let it finish until you see the GoldHen Notification and then it will say You're all set!
IC dont know why with some people they get the "Not Enough System Memory" but some do and thats ok it will still work.
Of course I would still double check your system memory FIRST before starting this jailbreak just to make sure your storage isnt completely full.
Another amazing tutorial as always! Before I jailbreak though, do you know if it is possible to remove the jailbreak if I later change my mind and want to play online? Is there any risk of getting your account banned after removing the jailbreak and then wanting to play online? Thank you so much for the tutorial and for your replies :)

Before, no problem but after the actualization (7.55=>9.00) can no longer conect to the Al azif server (the primary and secondary DNS block connection to internet) any sugestion?

I'm not sure I'm having a hardware issue but, I haven't been able to get a single game in a playable state for some reason. Every game I try has terrible graphical artifacts or just an unplayable framerate. Some games outright won't open at all. I know the games I'm trying are "compatible" but none have really worked. I have a launch PS4 from 2013 if that means anything, I just hope it's not a hw issue. 😬

Mr. Mario like so many others I would like to thank you for the time you put into theses videos they have been a great help to me. I am running into an issue with this one however. Upon getting to the exploit menu I see no option for ps4 9.00. I am on firmware 9.00 and set the DNS am I missing something? Thanks again for all your help

However, I have a problem: my PS4 is jailbroken, but because of the DNS the PS4 no longer connects to the Internet. It is as if no network is detected, yet I am well connected to the Internet. Looks like DNS is blocking all internet access (when testing connection, "failed" appears next to "NAT type" and "connection speed" ... I don't know what to do.

I've tried using DHCP and the manual DNS settings but also a static IP outside the DHCP range.
And of course I've put in the DNS servers correctly, multiple times.
Does anyone have an answer?

Hey I found it was doing this due to me being on WiFi. Would just not work otherwise, so had to setup an Ethernet connection to PS4. Then from there I went to a web browser and entered the IP address manually, one worked other didn't.
@@Harbinger1984s I tried that but didn't work for me, the two IPs give the same error. Edit:Stupid me forgot to put the DNS in auto, now it worked.
I got to the section where I tested my connection, it said I’m connected but Nat type failed etc. and when I went to go on users guide I just get a “cannot connect to the server” error. Has anyone has this issue and knows a fix or workaround?
Did you previously use a Jailbreak? had you disabled updates and maybe worked with different types of hack-tool?

@@supersonicmario56 if in the past you had already used Jailbreak on your ps4 there are chances you installed the util to stop access to PSN. Try just connecting to the internet without altering the DNS addresses.
@@ArikIkirA i havent used jailbreak before but if i am not changing dns setting then it works fine but when i changed it it shows nat type and connecton failed ,, i think dns have changed as this video is about a month old
@@arsalankhan364 just be careful with updates and bans DNS are essentially to lock you out of PSN to not get the console updated or banned (which can still happen if the game use its own server and then send packages to PSN)

Read that unplugging the two ribbon cables might work.
I keep getting a message saying "There is not enough free system memory" when I tap on GoldHEN when I have almost 800gb free, any suggestions?

Thanks for letting me know. I got the same error after removing the drive the first time which shut down the ps4. Then again the second time I got the error after clicking the 9.00 hen and again when I unplugged the USB drive. Worked on the third try though

Me too
DNA resolve names to IPs. It is possible the servers aren't configured as actually full fledged DNS. You could just use one of suggested DNS as your primary then used a public (Google's or Cloudfare's) as the secondary. Note doing this may lead to getting updates pushed to your console. Disable auto updates.

@@rickyarinugraha What worked for me is using a newer ish usb stick, even try multiple ones, i think the fault with me was my usb stick not working fast enough for the hack to work (used a older 4gb stick at first then a 32gb one from sandisk), good luck!

It is possible to use an USB hub with switches , I mean, plug it in your PS4 and in any port of the USB hub, plug the pendrive that you'll use for inject payload/cfw.
So, when is required to plug your pendrive , you only have to turn on the switch of the port in the USB hub and there you go.
The same way, instead of plug out the pendrive, you only turn of the switch.
It is just a suggestion, so you don't have to plug in.... Plug out every time the pendrive, because, sometimes either the USB port or the pendrive go to crap, and besides..... I found simpler turn on and of a switch for boot cfw/payload.
Can I still play the games I bought (physical discs & digital downloads from the PS store) after jailbreaking? Or do I have to "dump" the game into a pkg file and then, install them? I assume the free games I have from my PS Plus subscription will not work. Thanks for the video.
oh thank god. i never use internet (only to download ps store games that i want to get) and i got the remaster of saga frontier that came out a while back and never had the inclination to update, so i stayed on 9.00! i love hacking consoles (i have 1 chipped ps2 and 1 mechapwn'd ps2, for example,) so im really stoked for this. thank you!

Hello Mario. Thank you very much for the excellent instruction. I have a PS4 pro that had 8.50 so I upgraded to 9.00 using your instructions. Then I followed the instructions and set the DNS and I started everything as it says in your instructions, I inserted the usb when it was supposed to and removed it when the information appeared that it is not supported and then I clicked ok and the loading circle appeared and it did not studied with you GoldenHEN. I waited a bit and since I saw that nothing was happening, I tried to click the PS button on the joystick, but it didn't react, so I turned off the console. After that it turned on and I loaded the exploit again, I went again as per the instructions on the PS4 and I clicked on goldenHEN and after that the screen is black all the time, and I tried turning the console off and on a couple of times, but it's still black screen, and a white light on the console. How can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

for anyone watching this in the future; i highly suggest setting up al azifs host. not only does the host block the ps4 from trying to auto update fpkg games, but its also super fast in loading the goldhen exploit.

I followed your HEN + MM guide for the PS3 (specifically for region locked blu-rays) and I'm wondering if that same thing is possible with the PS4; I've not been able to find any concrete information. Any assistance would be appreciated.

After i setup the internet connection with the dns and all, i try to connect either via user's guide or the browser, but i get a WV-33898-1 error. A couple of times it will connect but it will give me a message saying error loading cache themes or something like that and after that it doesn't go further. Do you have any advice? Thanks in advance.
i had a similar problem but i managed to fix it by using the exploit host exe on the ps4 github site. It will give you a dns. First using the 165 dns and the one the exploit host exe got me didnt worked, then i swapped the dns server then it worked

Man I'm sure glad I came back to AL Azif's JB host, and very thankful for the dns server. I tried many times to use Karo's host but, I couldn't ever get it to cache the files for offline.(kept freezing @ different percentage before completing). And for some odd reason even though I had/have everything "unchecked" for Automatic updates, Games,9.03 FW was trying to update without initiating the process or going to the store. If I would have had good internet, it may have finished firmware update.(SOL)
That's before I switched my dns back to AL Azif's that's in the video. Maybe I done something to start the process but, Im almost sure of it, that I wasn't signed in to PSN AFK. Anyhow, I'm back to Al's host with his dns and everything is good. I have also "disabled updates" as an extra precaution. 🤯😅

Is there any way to fix packages that causes kernel panic? I've had issues launching both games and homebrew (Patch Installer, INI etc.).
Is it possible to fix this, or is it caused by lack of compability or something like that?
To anyone experiencing similar issues, try to use the latest version of GoldHEN, this solved the issues I had (back when 2.1 released)
