Capitalism is the crisis. Late Stage Capitalism is ugly, and we are living through it now. Bad politicians are one of the many symptoms. Look around the world - USA, UK, Argentina, list goes on. Terrible, awful anti-social politicians are ruling. They aren't helping. Capitalism is draining the life from humanity. What do you hope to do about it? Just complain about immigrants?
I used to donate but now I have to save money for gas to get to work.

Yup, same here. Used to donate regularly every couple of months for about 10+ years, but nowadays, its not easy to feed my own. And with constant influx of "highly skilled and educated" I guess they can feed themselves without me.

Simple. 90% of the land is not suitable for farming. Canada's population centers are relatively far from each other hence high transport costs. Inter-provincial trade barriers. Bureaucracy.

I remember when a food bank was flooded with foreign students. Also, I wonder how many Canadians can afford to study in other countries. I'm sure there aren't many.

Certainly however Harper didn't balance the budget either. He wanted to dismantle the 1930's era banking regulations that protected Canadian banks from the worst of the Great Financial crisis. No Tory government has balanced the Federal budget in the last 50 years. Not Joe Clark, Mulroney, not Campbell nor Harper. The only one to do it in recent times was Paul Martin.

Pretty much everything in canada is on the brink of collapse. Highest credit card debt in the world, a house is over $1 million, rent is $2500/month, every highway is a parking lot (and we were scammed into funding a private toll highway), our "free healthcare" system is beyond overwhelmed (my father just got on a 9 month wait list for a colonoscopy), we have refugees sleeping in the street...we NEED new management!
9 months is quick. I had a year wait for an MRI. Relocating shortly.
Had to wait 4 hours in the ER with a slipped spinal disc. They had no beds available so I was forced to STAND. The ER waiting room was full of foreign immigrants who didn't speak English with 4-6 kids who all had a sore throat.

This alone causes a shortage of everything, including housings, jobs, food, income and so on.

Want to do something seriously? Help change the system, start locally, away from bloody capitalism. Try One Small Town initiative, based on Ubuntu Contributionism. Free and voluntary to join, and certainly free and voluntary to read up on. What have you got to lose? Already life is getting crazy unaffordable. Capitalism is in a death grip, but we can change it if we unite along common goals to end the oppressive system once and for all, step by step, town by town.

Throw in 3 or more million immigrants soon to be followed by their families during an existing cost of living and housing crisis. Although in my community which has a min. 5 year waiting list for affordable housing the thousands of recent immigrants are being housed and/or buying most homes on the market thus keeping availability almost non-existent and the prices high. Today it was announced that it will now be even easier to get canadian citiizenship which will add to our unsustainable growth. The food banks, the housing market and health care are all gonna collapse sooner than later.

This is not news! As a matter of fact, we all know what's causing it and who's to blame.
This is what happens when every avenue of investing and / or earning money is taxed to the point where nothing remains beyond the absolute basics for the average Canadian. We are taxed on what we bring in, what we spend, and even any extra that might be earned on investments seems to be targeted by our government, which in turn, grows the government ever bigger with more and more make work projects that we cannot afford. Our government is greedy and we are not getting value for our money.
It's gonna sound racist, but neither Canada or it's universities are doing enough to make sure that international students have the the ability to sustain themselves while they are here, before they're enrolled. That's adding extra strain to systems which have already been stretched thin for at least a couple of decades.
My sister went to work overseas a few years ago, and she had to prove that she'd be able to support herself while in country, in order to be granted a work visa.
