I saw this the other night; it was a phenomenal production! I was lucky enough to see Rosalie Craig's understudy who was a marvellous Bobbi, her take on the role was incredibly moving. Patti Lupone just continues to raise the bar for herself; her Joanne was so playful, sexy and vulnerable. The nuances she brought to the role were seamless. Actually the whole cast was stupendous.
I wish I could talk to her I'd ask her what advice she would give to a drag queen portraying her version of Ladies Who Lunch, her insight would really push the performance over the edge
oooohhh maybe have a look at Jinkx Monsoon singing it for inspiration. She's a very musical theatre-inspired queen. That aside, so do I. I'm so mad I didn't take a chance on stage dooring the show I saw her in :(
No you have to watch Seth Rudetsky’s videos on both Elaine Stretch’s version of the song and the several on Patti’s singing in general, he goes into detail about technique and shares personal anecdotes and they’re also v funny

I saw you in that production of Company three weeks after you shot this video. I was an American in London (Oklahoma specifically). So, I rolled when you said what you did about the differences between the audiences. Ha! PS - I had the great fortune of being close enough to see all of you take breaths before you sang. I didn't get to meet you, but I did get to have a small conversation with Mel on my way out. Thank you (singular and plural) for the wonderful experience.

If, in fact, you, Patti, would EVER see this, I worked on an early production in your career called "Catch Penny Twist" at the new Hartford Stage Company in Hartford, Connecticut. I think Paul Wiedner may have directed it or perhaps Mark Lamos. but not sure. I do know that a special elevator was installed for you to rise out of the stage floor. Even so - I recall that a bunch of us rascals stole your underpants from your dressing room, signed them, and replaced them as was befitting of respectful crew. It was a great show with a great cast. SUCH memories. Thanks. Fred....

Look I never thought Patti was a good singer and I also think she's on rare occasions a good actor but OH MY LORD Patti you were born with a stage presence and personality to die for so if nothing else be proud of that
Joseph Jenkins I’m also not a huge fan of her, but I do have to agree that her presence is unmatched. However, strangely enough, I prefer her as a voice actress rather than a live actress. Like, her Yellow Diamond was absolute perfection

Thank you for this video! Company is one of my Sondheim favourites and I absolutely love this production. Came to London from Sweden a couple of times and saw the show 4 times in total. Very happy about the fact that we are getting a cast recording to relive all the memories! And I sincerely hope that I'll manage to squeeze in another spontaneous London trip before the end of March to see this wonderful company one more time
