Golf Lesson: Creating A STABLE Impact And Exit With A Strong Grip (LIVE)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 сер 2022
- In this golf lesson with Cortland, we mainly addressed the matchups created by certain golf grips. In his case, creating a stable impact with a weak grip was challenging with the amount of bow in left wrist he was needing to produce shaft lean. This led to heel strikes, a few shanks, and high pulls with his wedges. After some coaxing, Henry and I were able to have Cortland experiment with a strong golf grip, specifically in the left hand. This immediately brought about a more stable, square club face and allowed us to then focus on better movement and creating more optimal dynamics for his swing. We pick up halfway through this lesson due to some audio issues which we apologize for. I hope you enjoy this lesson!

This video and the one with the Left Hander are the Best Ever. I have hooked the ball for the last 15 years. I have paid a lot of money and practiced for thousands of hours along with at least ten swings styles, these two videos have me hitting a slight fade and all the confidence in the world to do so. Milo and Henry are the Only instructors out there that actually take you through the swing and grip inch by inch leaving zero room for guesses or assumptions as to how to make the proper impact. It unbelievable how thorough and precise these instructions are. Thank you gentlemen!
Thank you so much Jerry! We do our best!
All the info shared here plus the “stable clubface” and “line of compression” videos have changed my ball flight and changed the sound of impact. Thanks so much!
Great to hear!
Love these lessons with the student. The shank has crept into my iron game the last 2 years and this lesson addressed the causes and remedies
Great to hear Nicholas! If we can provide you with any further help please do check out my online academy at milolinesgolf.com. Here is also a full length video we did a while back on shanks: ua-cam.com/video/jU3Qjp5pyb0/v-deo.html
What looks like golf heresy may be golf wisdom. I'll have to try this.
If I can be of greater help...please do check out my online academy at milolinesgolf.com
For a player that has struggled with excessive trail side bend and thin heel strikes, it seems so counter-intuitive for me to try to hit push draws with an open face.
But the key is to first make sure you’re rotating properly through impact and THEN get the right arm under going through impact. If the right arm stays on top but the player is rotating properly then it leads to steep AoA and closed-face shanks.
Do I have that right?
This video was a real eye-opener!
i experiment with every idea going and its amazing when something works how quickly you change your mind
Sometimes it can be just that easy. In his case being that he's a good player he was a bit more stuck on that weaker grip, but once the change came it was pretty smooth sailing.
I'm on the weak to stronger grip journey too. That guy's a hell of an athlete to pick that up so fast, but with such incisive observations and adjustments, a hell of a lot easier.
He's got a really nice swing and hits it well!
Milo, that super strong grip you demonstrated, where the back of the hand was facing the clubhouse instead of the target, that was my left hand grip when I was decent at golf. (At the time, my right palm faced the target.) A pro friend of mine used to call it "a three knuckle grip with the wrong three knuckles"😻. I took about an eight year break and when I returned to the game, I resolved to play in a more..."orthodox" fashion. I've played like crap ever since. Back to the wrong three knuckles for me! Thx.🙏🏻
Keep me posted Mike! We have a few videos on this subject on this channel. And if I can help any further, please do reach out or join my academy on my website, milolinesgolf.com.
Great session to watch...very informative. Work it out in the dirt! Great looking swing/body motion. Just to watch the change made to the grip and seeing the transformation was awesome! Player! Great coaching session to watch guys.
Thanks Andrew!
That was amazing to watch. Great job!!
Glad you enjoyed it Aaron!
Another great listen to sir
Thank you kindly
Great stuff guys! I wish I lived nearby! Mind you it would take me a couple of years of work to even get close to that.
Cortland is a great player!
Great selling job on the grip change!
Can take some coaxing with advanced players, better to have them figure it out and test for themselves 👍. Thanks for watching Gerald.
milo, i play with a strong grip also. i have to cup/extend my lead wrist at the top of the swing to offset a really closed face at the top. would clearing the left hip and getting the trail elbow back in front help rotate AND shallow the club fixing the really shut club face at the top?
Is there a way to do this swing from a more upright posture?
Cat has a great motion
Milo tgm has a thing with left arm flying wedge where the alignment/geometry is club shaft is in line with left arm.
So essentially tgm cats say it works like hammering
Do you think that’s correct?
Milo I heard your left hand is slightly cup during backswing . Could you explain this in a video because it’s opposite to flat or bowed ?
Has to do with my grip. Here is a video that could be helpful: ua-cam.com/video/vTsNOGnIfGs/v-deo.html
how do you keep your left wrist from cupping too much at the top of the swing with a strong grip?
A little cup is fine, in fact many greats had a little depending on their grip and matchups.
This guy has a great swing IMO...
I realize the grip concern....but what about the pants and hoodi ?(i'm old school)
Doesnt Cameron Champ have a wrist issue now? And Koepka a yr ago?
This guy is clearly right eye dominant as he has the Milo head turn into impact....almost looking past the ball.
Again, what a great swing....there cant be much wrong here.
Really nice swing! I have heard rumors of wrist issues, yes. Brooks may have been caused by that root at East Lake. I have my preferences for a reason.
what about Driver. Do you basically mimic your iron grip with the driver as well? Man, stronger with the driver feels wacky :)
Yes. I'd have to see your swing to give you further feedback Harrison. Have you looked into my online academy? milolinesgolf.com
Bro still teaching the shanks.
Buddy gonna break his damn toes
haha
Because he's stubborn and doesn't want to make a small grip adjustment, he'll have to make more compensations. Instead, if he'd allow you to modify grip, progress would be much better and sustainable over long term.
Changing grips in more advanced golfers can be tricky sometimes and not a necessity with the right matchups. In this case I was able to coax him into it, but gave him time to see how it could be beneficial.
@@MiloLinesGolf Yes, but they've come to you for a reason. I appreciate your conviction of adjusting grip. Many instructors would continue slinging mud in hope something would stick . Henry still has lots to learn from you. Cheers and keep up good work
@@Batwing2465 I’ve been around the block a few more times than he has but we are constantly learning together.
Watching this video made me cringe at the beginning because I was this guy. I was thinking please let him fix your grip. Weak grip is the devil I almost quit golf because I went to a weak grip without paying tons of attention. Coach switched me to strong grip aka hammer drill and shaved 10+ strokes off my handicap basically over night
Bingo!
The background noise is annoying
Agreed. This was filmed a while back when we first got these mics. Will be better next time, thanks.
This could had been one of the best utube videos ever.. but can’t see any close up situations of what the heck was meant to be occurring.. shame… such a shame.
I don't like the student making noise with his shoes cleaning the club head
Haha will have to edit that out next time
Had to turn it off. Started counting how many times he kicked the club head.
Same thing I do when Milo’s assistant drones on.
Sorry to hear that gents. We do value feedback and will work to resolve some of the sound issues from this one as we had separate mics. This was recorded some months back when we first got them. As for Henry, he's been an integral part of my team and what you see online now for over a year. He has given hundreds of lessons with me and to our online academy members. Neither of us is perfect, but we do look to learn from one another and provide our followers with the best content we can.
Yikes with the mic issues on this. Almost unwatchable due to it
What was wrong with the sound? Appears fine on our end.
@@MiloLinesGolf go to around 1:50 to 1:60. Like something rubbing the mic and it persists throughout the video quite a bit. Not the end of the world and too good not to watch but it was distracting.
@@MiloLinesGolf ... it's a lot of mic rubbing up against clothing sounds. my guess is it's coming from henry's mic. it's as if the lavs are pinned inside your clothing or jacket. Unless you are taping it onto your body/chest in the right way, it's going to be tough, better to just clip it to the outside of your clothing.
Gotcha, yeah we had a couple videos from a while ago like this one where we noticed that. One other issue we have had is with the new Rode II Wireless mics we have and that when people listen w/ headphones they only hear in one side. Working to correct that as well. Work in progress and we'll continue to do our best to provide you all the best content possible. Thanks for your feedback!
