Best video I've seen yet on using a Neso tent! Thank you for the excellent demo. We've been using a Neso for years and absolutely love it. The trick that worked for us was making sure you really fill up the bags with sand to make them heavy and pulling them out to get a good amount of tension.
Thanks Heisenberg! Really glad that you liked the video! You're so right. Filling up those anchor bags and creating lots of tension is definitely key to a successful set up, especially on a windy day.
Quality accurate review. After our pop up canopy didn't survive one day on a windy beach, I bought the neso grande from a local beach shop and it did the job. From 7 mph to 18 mph . The more tension, the better. Stretch it so poles don't move, whether you bury the sandbags or not as they are crucial to the overall setup . Once that's complete, poles are easy to install. Bought the extra poles and discovered many uses for them. Set it up properly and you won't regret it.
Cool Adam! Thanks for sharing your windy day Neso experience!
Thanks for posting this video. I just tried a windy day set up and struggled getting it to stay up! I needed to add more sand and stretch it out even more! You answered that, so the least I can do is subscribe to help you reach the 1,000 subscribers mark! You’re getting close! Enjoy the profits that will come your way!
Glad the Neso video helped! Thanks for getting me one sub closer to 1,000! Happy to have you as a subscriber Boiler Dan!
I love this shade for when i fly.
Helpful and hilarious! Loved the demo!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
We were struggling to keep our Neso Grande in the air but this video had exactly what we needed. Like many others, we just hadn’t filled the bags sufficiently.
Cool! I'm glad the video helped! Thanks for letting me know.
Excellent video. Very helpful and informative
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for letting me know!
Thanks for the review. I have been looking online and I have finally found it
My pleasure! Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for the link on the Scoop!
You bet, Bryan! Hope it comes in handy!
Here in the OBX with winds 24mph SSW.. About to give up on the NESO Grande shade. Your idea to bury the sandbags in the sand was an absolute game changer! Thanks!
Cool! Glad the video helped you out!
I dig little ditches for my sandbags with high mounds to stop them from scooting… then bury them and the poles a bit. No probe since 👍🏼
Cool!
Thanks for the video
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Nice review thank you :)))
My pleasure, Rasta Man!
Best beach tent
I like the grande tent I like the fact that you bot two extra poles to add more room..
Yeah! The two extra Neso poles worked out great.
I actually end up using the Neso Grande more in my backyard than at the beach. It works really well to keep the sun off you.
Love all the reviews. Just back from a 2 week trip where the Grande stood up well to high winds with a 2 pole setup. Have you any comments regards its suitability with the 4 pole setup for high winds??
Thanks! I'm not sure about high winds, but I have set it up before on a windy day using four poles. It took a few tries, but with the right amount of tension, the beach tent stayed up. That being said, I personally prefer a two pole setup if it's windy day. I love how the wind catches the canopy like a sail.
" because getting smothered to death by a collapsing sun shelter would definitely be a stupid way to die". 😂😂😂
Certainly not the way I want to check out. Thanks for the comment!
Hi and thank you for your extremely clear videos. I'm very concerned about this product working against the wind since so many reviews on Amazon point this problem out. I have an idea and I'd really like to hear your opinion. If the wind is extremely strong, do you think that setting the LOW side of the tent facing the wind would be better? So, the wind won't blow the tent up.
Thanks for watching and commenting with your idea Daniele! I have found that these types of canopy beach tents need be set up so the open end, or the high end, is facing into the wind. If the Neso beach tent is set up with the low side facing into the wind, the canopy will curve inward which will subtract from our headroom. I think I do a better job showing this in my Sun Ninja review video. ua-cam.com/video/BnxiE-KYUGk/v-deo.html
@@BeachGearGuy understood! thank you very much for your answer!
What are your thoughts about a pop up canopy at the beach, such as a Quick Shade with sand anchors, versus a Nesco, Tentik or other similar type of shelter? (Also thinking family of 5 like one of the other posts had considered)?
I haven't reviewed any of the Quick Shade products yet because I'm always looking for lightweight and portable options, and those types of beach canopies tend to be on the heavier side.
The Pacific Breeze Sand & Surf Beach Shelter may be a cool option although it may get a bit cramped if all five family members want to sit under it at the same time. VIDEO: ua-cam.com/video/iV31UCptGOU/v-deo.html
I'm currently reviewing the 6' X 6' EasyGo Cabana which is really easy to set up but not a good option for a windy day.
I use beach sand stakes and thin rope instead of the sand bags since it is much faster to setup and take down, and no problem with the sandbags moving. However, even with that, the poles still fall over in strong winds. So we also got a shibumi. Which is great in high winds except it is as loud as a jet engine. So we also got a commercial grade beach umbrella which stands up the best and is quiet, but heavy especially with the drill and sand auger I bring with it to drill the hole deep. Although I don't have one, based on my last trip to the beach where I saw what sun shelters were holding up the best in days ranging from still to 15+mph wind, and based on the amount of shade provided and weight, it appears that Cool Cabanas are the best solution.
Thanks for sharing! You are a fellow beach gearhead for sure! I use Orange Screws to anchor down the Neso Grande in this video: ua-cam.com/video/D7EeD6rs_LM/v-deo.html
Hey Beach Gear Guy!
Love your channel! For a family of 5 do you recommend the neso, pacific dome, or beach bub for convince and shade?
Thanks Chris! That's a great question. I don't think the BeachBub would provide enough shade for a family of five. The Pacific Breeze XL is a great beach tent. It's big on convenience and is really easy to set up but it may get tight with two adults and three children. (I'm actually working on a review video on the Pacific Breeze Sand & Surf Shelter, which I think is a great sun shade for a family on a day without wind.) The Neso Grande may be a good choice but it does takes about 6 minutes to set up. However, If you have the whole family helping, I'm sure you could really cut down the set up time.
Beach Gear Guy perfect! Thank you for the recommendations!
Anytime! Have a fun & safe summer!
This is the best shelter ever!!!! Just follow the instructions and it will work!!!!
Yes it will!
👏 from Dubai
Thanks!
Curious if you can use the Neso Gigante poles with a Neso Grande tent?!
I think you would be better off using the proper poles for each of the Neso Beach Tents. The Neso Gigante poles are a foot longer than the Grande poles, and I don't think you would be able to prop up the Gigante poles all the way up under the Grande canopy. There would be a lot of tension!
Just ordered the Gigante! Can you do some reviews on beach matts that you can set under a tent?
Cool! I bought a Gigante a few weeks ago to review it. Please let me know what you think after you set it up. Thanks for the suggestion. I've actually been shopping for some beach matts and sand-free beach blankets for a review video. By the way, thanks for the sub!
I gotta get one of these, but want the Gigante model, for the family! It'll go great with my beach fishing cart & gear.
Cool Chris! 11 x 11 feet should be great for a family plus gear. Right now I'm editing a review video about a similar beach tent called the Sun Ninja which is 10 x 10 feet. I'm liking this Ninja too.
Great videos man. I do kitesurfing in a very hot and sunny area. What type of tent do you recommend that handles 20 mph
Can I find a pop up tent for that ?
Thanks! Beach canopies are the best for strong winds. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/D7EeD6rs_LM/v-deo.html
Is this the best beach shelter combo for the wind?
If I had to choose between the Neso and the Sport-Brella for a windy day at the beach, I would choose the Neso sun shelter.
Hi - do you have a link for the shovel you use in this video?
Here's my affiliate link: amzn.to/3xEaPMb It's a great hand scoop. It's currently going for $4.61 on Amazon.
The sandbags are perfect. Dig a hole fore the bag. Dragging a bag of sand is one thing. Lifting it up 8-12" out of a hole is another. More solid than stakes.
I bought one thanks to your review. Setup was super easy! My firsr setup i had a shovel so setup was soooo easy! My second setup I had no shovel so i dug with the square ends of the pole. Worked great! I love these Neso products. The Grande was perfect. People just need to know that the wind can easily drag a bag of sand but it's really hard to lift the full bag of sand out of a hole and that is why if it's really windy, you need to dig a hole. I love the functionality and ease of use of these Neso tents! Can't beat it!
Love the videos! Most of your set ups appear to be on hard packed sand. From your accent you sound like a New England boy. I’m from Boston. How will these work in softer sand now that I’m here in South Florida?
Thanks! You are very perceptive, Jason! The canopy beach tents I've reviewed work well with soft sand. You just may need to fill the anchor bags more than you would with the hard-packed sand.
can you do a review on the shibumi shade?
The Shibumi is on my short product review to-do list but I have to save up more before I buy one. They cost $250 bucks!
Silly question: Where can I buy that scoop? The ones I have seen in Amazon are either too flimsy plastic or too heavy metal. Thanks in advance
That's not a silly question. That's a great question! Here's my Amazon affiliate link for the blue scoop: amzn.to/3AXmg5F
Are you saying that four poles would help you get more shade in the event the sun and wind don't cooperate?
I'm saying the four poles would provide you with more usable space under the canopy.
Thoughts on neso versus sun ninja? And ever try neso sidelines with orange screw at the beach?
My husband is also worried about the footprint and taking up so much space. Have you ever reviewed the Neso 1?
I compare the Neso beach tent with the Sun Ninja in this video: ua-cam.com/video/vmzmHCMfJ8M/v-deo.html I haven't tried the Neso sidelines yet. I like how you can strap it to the top of a van or SUV.
@@BeachGearGuy do you think the footprint for the neso grande vs sun ninja vs ziggyshade are all similar?
Great question! For the large sizes, I would say the Sun Ninja takes up less space on the beach. If the footprint is a concern, Sun Ninja does make smaller beach shades (7'x7.5') ...and the ZiggyShade in this video is actually smaller than that: ua-cam.com/video/dWjMhntXDhI/v-deo.html Hope this helps.
I have the grande. I like it but I'm still figuring it out. Many times the wind is coming from the same direction as the sun. Even in this video, the sun was being shaded. But it still works okay against the wind. It's just not ideal and it is less head space. I wish they made a size between the Grande and the small. The small is just not very practical. At any rate i"m going to buy 2 more poles.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts about the Neso Grande! It sure is great when the wind and the sun cooperate. The two extra poles was a great investment.
Do you suggest this or the sun ninja?
To best answer your question, please watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/vmzmHCMfJ8M/v-deo.html
me again lol, when i used this in obx last summer it was so windy that even after i dug holes for the sandbags it fell over unless someone held a pole.
Wow! Sounds like you had a wild day at the Outer Banks! I wonder how fast the winds were blowing that day.
Have you ever heard of the USE ITT beach umbrella? Can you please review it??
I have heard of the USE ITT Beach Umbrella. It's $400 bucks! ...but I'll look into reviewing it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Unfortunately, on mediterranean summer beach day, you wont have such space to have this tent mount, and on the other it's impossibile to bring an umbrella with the motorbike, so I had to go with a more poche girly choice, the Miasun beach tent. If you'd review that too would be great man!
thanks
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. You could try something like the Coleman beach shade too. ua-cam.com/video/Ey99K-x65qg/v-deo.html It packs down small enough so you could strap it to your motorbike and it doesn't take up much space on the beach. Enjoy those beautiful Mediterranean beaches!
@@BeachGearGuy thanks mate, I'll have a look
Do you prefer the Sun Ninja or the Neso? Ty for the review!
I'll be conducting more comparison reviews over the next few months, but right now, I prefer the Sun Ninja.
Great ty! I'll be making a purchase soon so I thank you for your opinion and reviews. I'll def look out for your reviews still.
Cool! Glad I could help!
Fill bags and bury in hole made and cover with some more sand. Can't slide.
Filled my bags more than any other on the beach, had my poles perfectly angled, and we had 20 mph gusts, not even constant, and it got knocked down about 14 times. I buried the bags, faced the wind and everything. Highly frustrating
I'm sorry to hear that. Did you have enough tension in the fabric and lines? ua-cam.com/video/D7EeD6rs_LM/v-deo.html
Top tents n.1 in my opinion (i've just it!) ahahaha never try other 'cose not necessary ahahahaha
@2:15 Does anyone else see the problem here? 😮
What's the big deal? It's a dude riding a lawn tractor on the beach. 😂
I bought one of these and to be honest. It's a complete piece of expensive trash. Better off with an easy up
This thing’s a nightmare in the wind. Don’t buy it for windy use. He’s trying to sell it to you.
I'm not trying to sell anything. I take it that you've had difficulties setting up the Neso beach tent in the wind.
I hate to rain on your review, but the Neso is garbage IMO. We spent an hour plus fighting with it in good, but not unseen winds on Edisto Island. Nothing we did worked, well, except sending it back for a refund. I dont want to take anything to the beach that "might" work.
I'm sorry to hear you had a rough time with the Neso. It's a bummer to know you didn't enjoy your day at the beach. Have you watched this video yet? ua-cam.com/video/amhTanHD9Sc/v-deo.html I know you returned your Neso, but you can see how I set it up on a windy day. Have you found another beach shade?
@@BeachGearGuy we tried everything, four poles too. At one point half the beach was helping. It was embarrassing.
Well, that's no good. Thanks for sharing your experience. Wish it was a better one. I hope you can find a beach shelter that can work for you.
Gigante pain in the a**. A truly horrible design, and completely worthless in the wind, which if you're at the beach is nearly guaranteed.
Yes. We beachgoers always need to be ready for wind. I was thinking about making a review video comparing the Neso Gigante (11 x 11ft) with the Sun Ninja (10 x 10ft) . ua-cam.com/video/BnxiE-KYUGk/v-deo.html
Waste of money.
Is there a canopy beach tent that strikes you as better value?
Thanks for the demo. I'm glad I won't be buying this flimsy crap.
