It’s really saddening because there’s a lot of adults with children who aren’t as aware of AI and informed so they are able to fall for these scams and this one went beyond with heavily exciting an audience of children and parents going out of their time and effort to put money into this only to be disappointed and it just feels so shitty. I don’t know how someone can scam people like that and feel good the next day.
Little kids shouldn’t be on social media now adays.. Parents are stupid if they believe this stuff. Not that hard hahah. Nothing online is real at this point hahah.
The kids not been able to tell AI art is fake is one thing but they wasn't a single real picture on the website so the parents was stupid
@@liamcollinson5695correct, but there were descriptions of each event. The events didn’t even exist. I know to look for pics or it doesn’t exist, but I can see how some frazzled parents would expect the written descriptions to be somewhat accurate. And it’s were for plural nouns and pronouns.

I'm from Glasgow and I saw a lot of my pals share this online. I never in my life would I think this news would reach the US. The guy running the 'show' actually spoke out and claimed that a lot of of equipment he ordered 'didn't show up' but I instantly smelled BS.

so, i was at a comic con 2 weeks ago as of writing this. at the con, i spotted 3 people dressed as all 3 willy wonkas (gene wilder, johnny Depp, and Timothée Chalamet's To be more precise.) the one dressed as johnny depp's wonka took off his hat, and offered some free candy. How sweet and clever. THAT moment in my life, was a much bigger and better wonka experience than this scam event, LMAO.

It’s crazy how many of these AI scams are floating around. I got an ad just the other day with AI Lil Wayne telling people they could get money by visiting a site with malware on it.

I got one with a third rate AI Jennifer Aniston where the uncanny valley aspect was off the charts. I can't even remember what she was selling I was so creeped out.
There was another one where AI Selena Gomez giving away "excess stock" of her Always Pans for "free"... if you pay "shipping."

Saw a video on tiktok about an hour ago saying that the actors still haven’t been paid for this and one guy who played Wonka got blocked by the company because he asked when they were getting paid. This whole thing is disgusting.
On one hand, I can blame the parents for being dumb. The photos on the site show no actual images or promising real photos. No faces to hold reputations. As most conventions place names, contacts, or business photos online to prove the company and support behind it. The photos do not even look like real AI as we have seen. This is just a bunch of lazy parents paying to go to a clear scam of a convention; created by only a handful of people. If they did a little research or properly did their homework. The 40$ + would still be in their accounts 😂.

This reminds me of a smaller scale scam I heard about over here in the UK. Some guys were selling bootleg Willy Wonka bars to corner shops cause they didn’t do background checks or anything, a grandma brought one for her grandson whilst he was visiting and inside was a golden ticket to visit the Nestle factory. Thankfully the Grandma got curious and looked it over more thoroughly later so she saw the telltale signs of it being a scam, but still it’s kinda weird they’d build a scam around people driving all the way to the nestle factory for a non-existent tour

I stay in Scotland not far from Glasgow, and I read about this. It's ridiculous people that have "businesses" do this by starting one grabbing all money with no tax for the 1st year scam all staff and everyone involved with no consequences or repercussions. This person will do that again and again and the government doesn't give a shit! I know a few people that have done this, and they get away with it all every time by renaming a business, and I have been ripped off in multiple hospitality roles due to this kind of thing. It's disgusting!!!!
