I have listened to this dozens and dozens of times, today is so tender, I'm playing it for a friend who is in his last days in this life, he hasn't accepted Jesus as his Savior yet and I'm praying with all of my heart that he does so he can spend eternity with Jesus.
His movie had a profound impact on my faith and life. His disconnect with his father. His personal struggles. His seekers heart. I hope to sing with Rich in heaven to our good good Father.
In 1993 while I was stationed in Adak, Alaska, Rich Mullins came to the island and performed a free concert to the service men, women and the families, also had a Bible study with Rich Mullins along with several of his band members and a few others gathered, it is something I will never forget. I got his permission to record the concert, he smiled and asked me not make copies to sell……but unfortunately over the years I accidentally recorded over that concert….I’m still heart broken about that, his hair was shorter in 1993 when I met him…..
I was just telling a friend the other day how his songs can break my heart yet at the same time bring me joy. There is no other singer or songwriter like him.
This is the first time I ran across this version. What a great interpretation of where his soul was at that moment. Seems like he is praying more than singing; maybe pleading, with those tears in his eyes. Beautiful.
Oh my, I was just watching your life story on tv, and my heart goes out to you, you are such a kind tender hearted troubled young man and from what I can tell much of your distress is due to your father being so powerful and you so powerless as a young child, I am so sorry you went thru this, my father was the same way but he was an alcoholic on top of being mean, my sister remembers a time when he whipped me so hard she thought he was going to kill me. I guess our fathers are a product of their raising too , for what ever that is worth. It does little to console us, when the man that is supposed to love us seems to hate us at times, I am so sorry to find out from this post that you have already left this world it is our loss for sure!! It is hard to imagine that you have already been gone 20 + years? This video and the movie have both touched my heart greatly , so your legacy lives on, I know you would not return to this world for anything, and I would not blame you, I have a new hero, Rich Mullins , and I feel a great infinity with you, I wish I could undo all the cruel things your father said to you, but I can't and I guess he has gone to his reward too, I hope he mad it. I love you and God loves you more. I will see you again one day, even though we never met down here. Good bye for now.
For as long as I can remember when my grandmother died I was 10 years old I can remember her singing this song even though she couldn't speak she had a massive stroke this song I Hold very near and dear to my heart I love you Granny
Lyrics: This world is not my home I'm just a passing through My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue The angels beckon me from heaven's open door And I can't feel at home in this world anymore Oh lord you know I have no friend like you If heaven's not my home then lord what will I do The angels beckon me from heaven's open door And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
This is a fitting way to sing this song for someone who is really not comfortable in, yet very well provided for, temporary world. Rich had a passion for truth. Our true hometown awaits..."Oh Lord, what will I do...?"
He lived a poor life for GOD. Gave most all that money to the "church" and still. I understand why he got mad towards the end. I understand why Jesus tore up the church also
Playing this on Rich's 16th year of being in heaven. He had the shekinah glory, walked the walk and talked the talk always. Gave away most of the money he made to poor people in America and Ireland anonymously. I'll be glad to see him in heaven when I get there, too.
I am so glad somebody recorded and posted this. Thank you! I've heard that when he would just walk up to the microphone and start singing this song out of the blue, He was usually going through some deep struggle. Like when Mr. Morris and his Dad died. Thank you for sharing with us.
I was working at a power hydro station the Day Rich died . I love “brothers keeper “ song My family sings “awesome god !” - Mom. Bought me the cd set the ragamuffins put together. If we serve with love & joy - people get revived all the time .
How can any heartbe expressed more excellently? Miss him so much. Let’s endeavor to live after his example in which he endeavored to live Jesus’’ example.
What a powerful, pain-filled journey. He wrote and sang such wonderful music, it's so sad that he didn't feel at home in this world any more. It's a great loss to the lovers of Christian Music.
❤❤❤❤❤. This song is asong i wint firget i remember at vacation bible school we sung this song in creek Indian language SOOOO BEAUTIFUL RICH MULLINS HAD A BEAUTIFUL SOUL I SEEN HIS MOVIE RAGGAMUFFIN
I still REFUSE to watch it. Why? Cause Rich is my ANGEL HERO, and I do not think there is a human being I respect, cherish + love more. (I'm referring to a spiritual + heartfelt type of love). I was so looking forward to the movie from when I first heard project started; BUT THEN the REVIEWS came out, focusing on his STRUGGLES, such as alcohol + depression, (instead of the love/respect/honor he had for God); The focus of plot disgusted me. I suppose the drama regarding his imperfections (WE ALL HAVE THEM!) was necessary for sales + marketing? :( ...His struggles did NOT define him! And whomever decided to make that the theme + focal point of the movie, SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. (Again based on many reviews I read, since I NEVER watched it, and never will, by choice + respect TO RICH). Ask yourself, if Rich was able, due you believe he would have agreed to public viewing of that (inaccurate or greatly distorted or sensationalized) version of his life story? If no, like me, do not watch it. Instead seek (the many) live recorded tapings of his music, interviews etc=Where you will get to know the "Real Rich". (He was not, an always depressed, always drinking alcoholic, that the movie apparently portrayed him as !!!). He actually (if you LISTEN to him) was quite the opposite. E.g. Outspoken in an honest + hopeful manner to make this world a better place to live + draw people closer to God :) Sorry so long, but I think Rich would approve of my efforts to reveal THE TRUTH, about him + movie. BTW, This World is Not My Home, either. Hate me, slander me, insult me or whatever- But I'm still going to defend God (and Rich Mullins) + all those who love HIM- Hope you will too.
14Gail 14Kathryn14 I totally agree with you. I did watch the movie and was totally shocked that the movie did not portray the entire life of Rich Mullins, that it mostly focused on his struggles. As I have read many peoples comments about the movie only about a handful feel the way we feel, and that’s ok, but I’m surprised. To be perfectly honest I think the more ripped him to shreds. If you haven’t seen these two videos yet I highly recommend you watch these. Rich Mullins: A Ragamuffins Legacy (2014) Documentary, and also Rich Mullins - Homeless Man (complete). They both are phenomenal. YOU WILL BE BLESSED.
Rich's hair length and general appearance in this video are consistent with his appearance in 1990, not 1992. This performance was actually probably videotaped in the summer of 1990, during his “Never Picture Perfect” Summer tour.
Sunday/Dec./19/2021 ✝➕✝➕✝➕✝➕✝➕✝➕✝➕✝ 🙌 Glory to God !! 🙌 🙌 Praise Jesus !! 🙌 I'm going home to be with my King Jesus one of these days and what a glorious day that will be, hallelujah 🙌 Glory to God. I think Rich sang this after one of his spiritual mentors went home to be with the Lord. As far as I know, Rich never recorded it or performed it again, not that I know of.
The man who left him so heartbroken was the father of his first roommate. He became like a father to rich. Rich was rooming in the house when the man had a massive heart attack. The Rich sang this song.
I’ve been told this is not the same performance. Those who were there said that the performance you’re referring to was in Philadelphia and was even more gut-wrenching than this performance. Sorry it took me nearly a decade to respond!

The greatest Christian song writer ever
I can't feel at home in this world anymore
Hello, how are you doing,i hope your fine?
My anthem, thank you Rich your music has been a huge part of my walk with Jesus, I love music but Rich stood out, Pierce your heart with his words💙✝️🎶
He is not singing for the crowd. He's singing his heart's song to his LORD and King...this is a precious moment.
Exactly.
My mom and I used to sing this. She's been there for a few years now. Can't imagine the song she sings now to praise Him
Love this singer ! Ama,zing song writer !!
I was just telling a friend the other day how his songs can break my heart yet at the same time bring me joy. There is no other singer or songwriter like him.
Agree 100%. The Color Green wrecks me. Puts me on my face at the magnificence of Yahovah every time. Rich got this. He is very much missed. Shalom.
EXACTLY.
And he's even singing alcopoco.
Hank Williams?
Very gifted song writer plus singer
I want this played at my funeral.
Has ever a song regarding Jesus been sung with a more sincere heart and right focus??? My best and heavenly friend….
How I miss his music and his devotion to proclaim the gospel!
19 years ago he left this world. 19 years he has had to sing new songs in heaven. looking forward to meeting him there one day, and singing with him
Meeting him and singing praises to our God! Amen!
He is waiting under the Altar with all others waiting for the time and for those of us who will join them
This is the first time I ran across this version. What a great interpretation of where his soul was at that moment. Seems like he is praying more than singing; maybe pleading, with those tears in his eyes. Beautiful.
DEEPEST EMOTIONS are BEST EXPRESSED THRU SINGING~~~~
In the movie of his life, this was sung after learning about the death of his father. It is a beautiful prayer sung by Rich Mullins. ❤️
I believe it is when his dad passed away.
Most of his songs sound like prayers!
Rich knew this truth better than most.
Amen!

Lyrics:
This world is not my home I'm just a passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
The angels beckon me from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
Oh lord you know I have no friend like you

The angels beckon me from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
Beautiful
Honestly the most heartfelt and magnetizing.

I am so sorry. I will pray for you! God loves you so much!
Sometimes I wonder if god seems to take the ones we seem to”worship?” To get our
Attention. Back
Only the good die young
No. Our God is not a petty, jealous God. He took Rich because Rich had completed his life’s work and had finally surrendered to Him.
2 of my friends died the year Rich died .
Mark Dube and rich Mullins.
Rich was the 3rd friend killed in a c j 5 Jeep.
Jeeps are fun . And dangerous as well .
We must live rejoicing
Every day .

Please be extra cautious if you own a Jeep . Several of my friends have died in jeep crashes
Kevin Barton my friend's daughter died in one.may we shine our light to those in their spiritual home.
The TV has more clout than free thought. This is going to be a rout. Should i pout? "but the one who endures until the end, the same shall be saved." if you are living your best life now, goodbye, nice to know you
Good job, spoken like rich it seems would have
Got values that would make the White House jealous !👍☝️🤠
My wife left me
I wish he did a solo rendition on an album...
He does, I believe. A song maybe called "I will sing"
