Making a even smaller portable charger for Campagnolo EPS

I've gotten a few emails about EPS V3 things, but also about my original Microcharge. The original is a bit obsolete in some ways and I don't plan on building any of them, but I wanted to give people some options.

Keith, these videos are very interesting and informative. Thanks so much for taking the time to make them. For those encountering this one, I can report that the charger, using the parts listed in the comments, works very well with a PU15-CH EPS V2 power unit. I used a traditional resistor so it was easier to solder. Appropriately sized enclosures can be purchased for just a few dollars from Ali-------ss.

I really wish Campy would just use USB to begin with like it's the 21st century... even Apple finally made the switch. Those M5 connectors are incredibly fiddly.

This is a fabulous little charger, I am repairing a friends EPS 11 Super Record, I assume it be fine that old version too. Also he has torn the connector off the charge lead. I am going to splice in the extended charge lead but can’t find any where that indicates which of the 6 wires to connect to the 4 on the charge lead. Sounds like I only need to connect three. Any help would be much appreciated. Keep up the great work.

Is there any difference in this charger to the original one in terms of balancing the cells or is it basically as save as the genuine one ? Would be nice to know :)

Neither this design NOR the original EPS charger has any balancing. The battery does not have any balancing either. So to be clear, all EPS v1 - v4 do not have any form of cell balancing whatsoever. The 4 pins on the charger are power, ground, thermistor, and 12v auxillary that was used on the original V1. If your pack goes unbalanced, it basically dies.

Been over three years since I worked there so I know very little anymore. The Ekar just starting to finalize and EPS had it's minor updates to 12. So I don't know anything anymore sadly.
