You could have the tiles affect how future battles are played more than just the terrain setup. For example, if Jazza's Orks conquered a farm he could get more models in the next battle because they're well nourished. It could give a little more immersion to the narrative. Great work as always. Y'all are great.

I love this idea. I could also see this as an opportunity for Dave to field something like Freeguilds as well, like a miltia type thing for saving a township.

This is fantastic! Really nice job putting this together. Being an 80's kid, I really am living a dream come true seeing what tabletop games have become since the dawn of the internet and social networking, and the availability of production equipment at an affordable cost to hobbyists. Looooong way from the pen and paper with hand drawn characters of my childhood.

@@timwelch175 i used to play gurps and old D&D with my family but when my friends wanted to play it was always on the fly and i never got much prep time as a DM do genuinely think we are in a kind of golden age of miniatures. so cheap incredible quality and diversity. if you can think of something theres probably a mini line with that thing already in production. i love all the kickstaters just wish i had more money to push around but eh times are hard for most people and not being able to buy little plastic men isnt the end of the world these videos do give me more ideas then my wallet allows for XD but ill take a grack at making home made versions of these (no 3d printer) cause i do love the idea of a evolving modular map of a city

Since there are two rivers; one for the ork and one for the humans, you could give the ork the backstory that the reason behind their attacks is for fresh water - their water supply has been tainted and they need to be imperialistic for a source of potable water.

That's really cool! The first thing I thought when I saw that was that it looks like Catan!
I really like the tile with the mill and the farm. Maybe it has a little inn or tavern there in the house that was there, called The Prancing Pony (LotR reference).
Anyway this is a really cool map!

This looks amazing! And you've inspired me to craft a little Barovia for my players! I think the swamp river tile in the south east should be 'Rotten Run'. The townsfolk avoid it due to it being a hunting/dumping ground for the orruks, and the source of some of the foul ichors the swamp calla uses! Can't wait to see the campaign flourish!

For names I’ve got a few ideas, maybe the burnt village could be something like Bohn’s Folly (bohn is pronounced like bone) and one of the castles, (the bigger one) could be something like the pride of _______ and then insert whatever you name the entire land, or maybe insert a name of a town. Just some ideas but I thought that the names could also fit well into some cool backstory for the land.

I think you should name the clean river the Bruinen, which is the river that Glorfindel carried Frodo over, and where Gandalf and Elrond brought down the flood to destroy the Nazgul.
It's fitting because the Bruinen only has one crossing, as does yours, since it has one bridge and is rushing white water besides.
This is so sick! I love terrain, 3d printing and D&D, this looks like a super cool way to combine the 3 without having to build dozens/hundreds of tiles for each tactical battle, which is hard for somebody with limited storage/time like myself.

Love the little castle/fortress. Such an important yet purely functional place in a fantasy world like this one. The whole board already looks fantastic, triggering so much imagination.
For some reason I came up with the name Karnvagh Castle. Thinking it sounded a little Scottish I researched it and actually found a place in Ireland with almost the same spelling. With carn meaning rocky hill/horn/peak in Gaelic and Gaul, and -augh meaning connected with/belonging to. So basically: the castle belonging on the rocky hill or perhaps Castle on the Peak or Horn Castle. But I do like my initial spelling. Very fantasy-esque I think. 😊 Do what you will with it. For Karnvagh! And Sigmar!!

Picking a favourite is tough... Gotta pick 2 I guess. I really like the tile with the waterwheel on the North River; your water effects look really great from the aerial view. The other is the tile to it’s upper right, with the wheat field and buildings (the one at the edge, beside the clouds); the amount of detail you have on such a small tile is amazing. But all of them are great, and I am excited to see if/when a battle table is made for each of them!

I have been printing these for a while now. Going for the magnetised option with one magnet each on the underside and a white board to stick them to.
They look awesome, but it takes a long time to print all the tiles, especially since I'm working with an Elegoo Mars Pro, its a bit slower than the newer printers, and I can only fit two tiles at a time on. It also eats a lot of materials. So this project is turning out to be a lot bigger and more expensive than I first anticipated, but the end result will be worth it I think.

It would be really cool to have the world map be a living world map, where you swap out tiles to represent the results of various battles. The Kruleboyz take a town and loot it? Well that tile with the town gets swapped out for one that's been painted to look war ravaged or burnt out. etc etc. Then you could have a brief shot of the world map in the intro of every battle report where the viewers can get an immediate sense of how the campaign as a whole is going just by how the world map is looking.

As soon as I saw this I remembered Games Workshop had made " Mighty Empires", a game that looked just like this.

If you want to devote the time you could populate the region with its major NPC's, especially whomever occupies that castle and the people around him. It could be a minor nobleman, an appointed regional governor, or even a military legate. In each case he(or she) would have different people around him that would influence the surrounding community in different ways. You could even go further and add the people who provide important services, such as an innkeeper, blacksmith, etc., and before you knew it you might have the outline of the local economy. Trade routes might come next(blacksmiths need iron, and nobles need lots of good food - perhaps a hunting reserve in one of those wooded areas). I think you get the idea... you don't need to fill every house with a named NPC, but once you have the backbone of a society they virtually fall out of your imagination. Good luck! I love this project and will be anxiously waiting to see where you go with it!

Seeing the cotton wool used as clouds/fog made me think it would be quite cool to use that effect to hide tiles that players in a quest haven't been to yet, kind of like how you only see tiles you've been to before in some old school games

I love all things miniature painting and map making so this is 100% up my alley. I think I'm going to need to invest in these tiles maybe 🤔

Personally My favourite is the tall mountain tile, I think a name like Wyvern peak could be a cool way to possibly introduce a dragon onto the stormcast side later on, or alternatively you could call it Vultures pass as a way to add in ork support through one of those awesome bird monsters they have. Im not the best with names though as you can tell. It would be cool to add Myths surrounding these places too maybe, so If you chose wyvern pass then perhaps someone from the burnt village tried to kill the dragon but it only angered it and retuned to lay waste to his village. I dunno could be a reason to explain why its so sooty and run down. Whoevers names you pick this was an awesome video and Im super temped by these tiles now. Hope to see this world expand at some point!

Where I grew up there was a creek called *Clear* Creek. It was the muddiest little stream I've ever seen and I like to think it was named this way on purpose. As such, my suggestion for the name of the brackish river is The Pellucid, which means transparent 😎

If you want to use the tabs and not break anything mix 20% of flexible resin to normal hard resin. They wont break when you drop them and they will flex juuuust enough to lock everything together easily.
    Very cool video btw :)

I'm not that into table top gaming, but I absolutely love the idea of painting up a sprawling map of these tiles to be displayed on a wall or something.

I liked the villages because they made me a little nostalgic about the Shire. But I would like to see some of them get more fortified like Whiterun or Solitute in SKyrim. And as a name I'd suggest Magnus, for a hero of legend that came from there. Getting whose armor and weapons could be nice little one shot idea...hmm and maybe use them to stop a cult or faction from corrupting him and bringing him back... I've gotta do a mini campaign now.

Gorgeous! If you wanted to name one of the mountains on the far left Mount Straubhaar, or just the Stockhorn (a real Swiss mountain my ancestors lived under) that'd be fun! ;)
