An iconic show in Channel 4's mid afternoon arsenal from '88 onwards - but I always thought the music was utterly bizarre, to the point of being creepy. It doesn't sound like it was composed by a human. The start is odd enough with the parping synth that doesn't at all follow any melodic sense that feels natural, then we have the interstitial music stings here and there in the programme that ramp up that unease to horrifying levels. That they stuck with this unholy composition for years says a lot. Yet all this is tempered somewhat by the soothing tones of William G. Stewart - a fascinating man. Only C4 could have done this at the time, and let it continue for so long. Weird Things That Haunted You Whilst Off School #76
