    Had no choice but to press like after I tried lengthening both the triceps and upper traps and getting a contraction in dem rears! Great breakdown of why not just the rear delts but why any muscle can/is over powered by other muscle groups.

    Good stuff. Nice to know that someone so smart and well respected is teaching this intelligent way to train. Although not blessed with BP's genetics, I have been teaching this and applying these principles for years. You can take the exact same movement and place your body in a different position and work a different muscle. It's all about the position of the body in relation to gravity with a free weight and position of the lever to the fulcrum with a cable or fixed machine.

    Don't know if you still read the comments from older videos but I have to say that this one, with the explanation of how to position the arm and shoulders, really is awesome. I tried this today, had to drop the weight a little, and I really feel the difference. Biomechanics is a wonderful this and your knowledge of positioning one's self and explaining it is by far the best. Thank you.

    Most logical explanation of exercise physiology. Well elucidated...
    Broscience version - feels the pump... and lots of reps 20-30 reps to feel the burns...

      I think you missed something, or mis-understood something. Lots of Reps is NOT correct... CONTROLLED and CORRECT movement is the focus! find and use the RIGHT amount of weight to DEEPLY STRESS the muscle in 12-10-8 reps with OUT losing good form.
      Doing "lots of reps" only results in "burning" calories, and fatiguing the muscle!
      If you want lots of endurance -- such as a runner or athlete in a sport that is 'continuous' like Soccer -- then train with more reps...or to just burn away fat to get down to a real Training Weight. But BUILDING NEW muscle requires you to make the muscle FAIL under the weight...not just to get 'tired'.
      BTW -- ALSO keep in mind that you only need to train a specific muscle or group of muscles once or twice a week! ALWAYS give a muscle at LEAST TWO days of rest! The first day is to 'recover' from the stress and failure, and the Second day to build ADDITIONAL NEW muscle!

    Yes sir.. great explanation Ben regarding the force being weaker when parallel. I actually learned this when doing tricep press Downs and how it was harder when you started but when you extend obviously youre parallel with the cable...not much resistance.. so I started leaning back on my right heel at the end of the movement so my arms were more perpendicular to the cable.... great video!

    Do a bunch of reps and sets of squats, neutral stance.
    Then a bunch of lunges, walking or static.
    Then finish with a bunch of extensions.

    Worked great today, tried several tips today and this was one of them on the cables. still getting used to it and first few reps was more getting my shoulder in the right position but once locked in my rear delt was on fire

    I love using the reverse chest fly machine. I put the seat up a little bit so my arms are slightly lower and I can really feel my rear delts being isolated.

    The scapula muscles can only move the scapula not the humerus. Locking the scapula just makes U more prone to impingement in the shoulder joint.
