      B- PAC, I am a huge fan ever since I saw in the Olympia.... Before coming across you I thought that moving heavy weight was all that matter and gave no attention to form. I'm 26 and have tons of shoulder n joint pain after chest and shoulder day and elbow inflammation after tri's and Bi's. After coming across you. I noticed that the weight is unimportant. I move less weight and it stimulates the muscles jus as much. Thanks B-PAC fan forever.

      Why should you engage your abs, I always tought that it was better to have a slight arch in your lower back?

    Key point: Shorten abs to keep rib cage from protruding up too much to get better chest contraction? 1:25
    1:32 Contract back to lengthen chest fibers then contract chest and push up to touch elbows

    I think I'm gunna keep doing a powerlifting style with my flat bench but I'll definitely do this with my incline to try to bring my upper chest up in terms of size

    Hey Ben, I've noticed when my chest is lengthened fully lengthened in the rep I can contract the antagonist further lengthening the chest. Then my chest seems to contract with great tension in a kind of reflex way. I do this with many exercises. Contract the antagonist when the protagonist is lengthened.

    Hey Ben ! Huge thanks for the video ! Could I use this method of the drops with streching in the beginning of a pre-contest diet ? Or the risk of injury is too high ? Another question : In all of the 4 working sets you do de drops/streching or only at the last one ?

  • @DnBQemist

    Curious why you teach elbows out on DBs? High risk high stress on the bicep tendons

    • @iMegaenna
      @iMegaenna 10 років тому

      If you keep them in you put more tension on the triceps than in the chest

    • @DnBQemist
      @DnBQemist 10 років тому +2

      iMegaenna yes but like I said before, there's a ton of force being placed on a very unstable joint

    • @mmuhockey3
      @mmuhockey3 10 років тому +2

      DnBQemist If you do the reps slow and controlled like Ben teaches you won't need to worry about your bicep.

      wtf has doing it slowly to do with placing less stress on your shoulders ... flaring the elbows fucks the shoulders up for most ppl (we do not have flexible enough shoulders in general) ... doing it slowly can make it even worse

    • @bryceclark3993
      @bryceclark3993 7 років тому

      thats an issue with your rear delt (a muscle that 90% of people lack) your rear delt with stabilize your rotator cuff and allow more flexibility. when people say dont flare your elbows its because it does engage the front delt and puts strain, thats why Ben suggests squeezing the back tight and drawing the delts back. if the delts are drawn back and stable they will act properly in the movement

    can you make a video on retracting the shoulder blades. I have trouble keeping my shoulder blades retracted when doing dumbbell incline when i go back to start my movement i hold my shoulder blades and squeeze them but when i go back to start i loose the retraction.

  • @ronniefelice2033

    I thought to get max contraction of pecs that you need to lift the rib cage. I find that when I shorten my abs it takes the arch out if my back and flattens my rib cage.

    • @TheOpportuneNoodle
      @TheOpportuneNoodle 10 років тому

      That's exactly what he's going for. Keeping the arch out and staying flat so you're not tempted to push your hips up, make the movement easier and use other muscles to do the work.

    Isn't the whole point of dumbbell bench to bring the dbells together and look for a greater contraction??
