Steven Ruddell is my great great grandfather. My grandmother was Amy Ann Ruddell. The grave with the mother and four children resulted from their death in a fire at their home. Urban Hicks was actually the teacher that taught Mark Twain to read and write. My mom, dad, and sister are buried there next to my grandparents, aunts, great aunts and so forth. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. My brother is the chairman of the Ruddell family cemetery association and is the go to person for family burials, all descendants have a free grave site or can reserve one..

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I imagine it is comforting to have such a strong family connection to the Ruddell Pioneer Cemetery and that you have a place there if you want it. It really is a cemetery rich with Thurston County history. Surprisingly, we didn't realize it was there until relatively recently. Hopefully you enjoyed our video and thanks for watching!

New to your channel, like it much. Born Oregon City, raised in Portland, high school in Aberdeen and Clackamas, ten years in Hoquiam, Pacific Lutheran, etc., but unfamiliar with most of your locations. Fun and informative. But yeah, where's that beautiful dog? How about a trip up to the old camp at Grisdale? John Tornow's digs? Lots to see.

Lol. We left Thora (or dog) at home that day. We have camp Grisdale on our future video list. I'll have to look up John Tornow. I'm glad you liked the channel, and thanks for watching.

You will find out in most of the rural areas the family's would inner mix.
A lot of the Bebbes were out in Forks.

That makes sense. I'm sure they were dependent on each other and grew very close.

Do you have any idea of the origin of the Simmons-Bush party? My Simmons family came to Pennsylvania from Germany in the 1700s, the name was anglicized from Siemens.

@Explore Tayo Michael Simmons of the Simmons-Bush party was originally born in Kentucky in 1814, lived in Illinois, then Iowa, then Missouri before founding and settling at New Market (today Tumwater) in what was Oregon Territory. That would be interesting to find out if you are related.

@searchingforhistory hmm, as far as I know, there weren't any in our line in Kentucky. There are some Scots-Irish Simmonses in western VA, that is a more likely line for KY.
