I have not played it enough as I have been visiting friends and family, but it is really nice. Won't replace my Low D, but it is a dream to play. I'll start including a few high D tunes as well as comparing the high and low D whistles from a playing standpoint.

The next whistle you need is an A. It plays well with a low D, being a fifth apart from the low D. I have a Howard (low D balanced & reed) and a Wild (A) and both are easy to play in both octaves. The Howard Reed Head does need an extra push for any notes above upper G. The sound of both whistles is very nice to my old ears.

Thanks for saying, Phil. That is a great idea. I agree the Reed head needs some pushing, but it’s fun.

it's a great whistle- today I've played the low d after playing the high d and the flute - it helps the low d! breath and fingers! it's like playing guitar on a strat and then on a les paul it helps! have a Guiness everybody! (5 days from ireland to tenessee? ireland to france - both in the EU is ten days!)

I was surprised mine came so fast. Indeed. I’m amazed at the playing differences between the high and low D.

It looks really nice, how's the tuning on it? I bought a really good low whistle case from McNeela Music a couple of weeks ago it's full up now with several different keys from high to low, from Clarke, Generation, Sindt, Lir, MK Pro to Kerry Whistles. They all play great but have different qualities from each other. Some may suit different tunes and environments than others whether playing slow airs or fast reels, in the house or in the pub...
I just started learning a couple of months as well. I've been taking lessons once a week at BelfastTrad. I guess I'm on a similar journey so enjoying watching your videos and seeing you progress. Keep going and congrats on your new whistle! I'm sure it won't be long before you add a few more to your collection 🙂👍

Thanks. I do need to think about a case. I'm glad you mentioned you got one. I love your idea of having many whistles from many manufacturers. You are also right about the different qualities. I definitely need more whistles (ha, ha). The tuning on the Wild Irish seems really good, and it plays almost effortlessly top to bottom. But it is not a soft whistle. You can make it stand out.
Glad you are also learning. I'd love to know some of the things that are really helpful that you are learning at BelfastTrad. We have nothing like this in North East Tennessee.
It's wonderful to be on such an exciting journey together. Cheers!

@@LowDWhistle Yeah the bags is great for going to lessons and storing the whistles. The classes are an hour long 2 classes running on Tusedays one after the other. They are relatively small in number about 6 students in each class and we basically learn a different tune every week, sometimes over a 2 week period if it's a bit long/complicated.
The tune gets broken down into phrases and we play along as a group and then play it individually until we get it, work through any problems and then move on. We have covered some basics cuts, taps, breathing, when to breath and pushing the air to get into second octave. Also given some tips on how to recognise reels from slip jigs, from poka's etc.., timings. We play the tunes slower than normal usually at first which helps while learning them.
We also have a WhatsApp group set up for the class where we can share info, ask questions, share tunes, tips. The tutor shares the tune we are currently learning along with the notes and her recording of the tune. The tutor has also recommended a local pub session nearby which is beginner friendly, they also shared the tune list that they play so will be checking that out in a few weeks when I get time.
I'm sure if you ask around there will be something somewhere in your area, If not head to a local pub and start up a session! 🙂👍

Thanks so much. I'll check the Session website to see if there is anything near me. The lessons sound great.
