BUILDING A FOOT OPERATED SHRINKER/STRETCHER STAND.

- In this video I build a stand for the shrinker/stretcher set I recently bought. I BUILT THIS OUT OF SCRAPS I HAD. I DO WISH THE PIECE OF 2X3 I USED WAS 3-4 INCHES TALLER AFTER USING THIS A COUPLE TIMES.

Great video! I'm going to make one. After using it a while now, is there anything you would change?
I’d try and mess with the overall stroke length and lower the pedal some. Maybe not the pivot point of it but the angle of it so the pedal at it’s returned position is a lower
Will do! Thanks for the reply. I love channel man, keep it up!
👊🏻👊🏻
I have this to say about your posture while operating this clever and awesome device -- after using the shrinker for a while, you will be the one needing a stretcher, as in "Ethel, call me some EMTs I kenna walk no longer!" After using the stretcher for a while, the discs in your spine will be shrinking, much the way oldies get shorter later in life.
Great build vid, thanks for sharing!
👊🏻👊🏻
I sure am happy that you let yourself go into a more comedic route with your videos. Please don't get me wrong here, the vids before are still great but God Damn I sure do laugh at your antics and little skits you do at the beginning of your videos now. The entertainment value has skyrocketed. Still very educational but funny as shit too :) Love it. Glad you found your comfort zone. I have one funny complaint here. I am a 51 year old who refuses to leave the 80s lol. I still have my long rocker hair and still listen to my hair band and 70s heavy music so when I hear the fiddle intro to your videos I find that it gets stuck in my head like a damn ear wig and I cannot get it out lol. It pops into my head when I'm trying to sleep and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it lol. Thank you for the laughs and the hard work you put into your videos. I wish you and your family nothing but the best. Please take care and keep safe too. From across the river in Canada.
The pin stripes took that to the next level and why buy it when you can make it from scrap metal? Because you can !! You the Man.
I watch all the commercials so u can get paid lol..the only channel I never hit skip!!!
I’m glad you found your voice. It’s not easy when you’re starting out.
Well wouldn't cha now, searching for ideas for the shrinker stretcher stand I'm going to make and Ole Puddin' pops up in the search. Nice.
The most wicked badass shrinker/stretcher I've ever seen! Plan to build me one soon so here comes ole Puddin to the rescue again🤘🤘
I'm building an English Wheel (HoboFreight), Bead Roller (Eastwood with motor) and stretcher shrinker combo (HF) and using the English Wheel for the stand for it all (based upon another UA-cam video I found) (his setup looked like a 17 yo built it) and of course there are no stands available for the HF S/S unit (though the instructions say there is), so I Googled the UA-cam and found my favorite Fab Shop (Puddin's of course) was on the top of the list. And like all his videos, this one was spot-on... even if it was the early Puddin and not the current Puddin. You are a fantastic fabricator Puddin, I don't care what anyone says about you! Watching your channel inspired my adding these skills to my bag-Oh!-tricks at 62 years old! Now I need to quit sitting on my ass and finish this project!
I hope it helps. I’d try changing up the angles some of what I used. Or lower the pedal a hair.
I've watched a few of these DIY base builds ... you're the only one to show how it worked on e finished. You even took the time to show how the stop worked.
Thanx
Nice paint work for a shop tool btw
Thanks for watching!
what a nice tool man looking good
Thanks!
I've been watching the box truck videos. sooo good! you are awesome!
Great stuff! After watching your 2021 stuff, I can see you have gotten a bunch more comfortable, and you are really letting your true self shine through! Keep up the great show!
It’s crazy watching an older video. After so much of your antics.
A coupling nut, also known as extension nut, is a threaded fastener for joining two male threads, most commonly a threaded rod, but also pipes. If you believe Wikipedia.
When I was a kid around 1970 let's say, we used to take two 1/2 - or 3/4 - inch bolts and combine them with a nut that was carefully filled with several heads removed from strike-anywhere matches, and then toss the assembly into the air, and if it fell just right on the landing... If we had one of those coupling nuts then?
Love the color scheme! Great job sir.
Thanks!
That's some cool stuff Puddin and that stand you made for it and the paint is great loved watching. And your my kinds teacher 👍
Thanks, I love home built tools and stands!
Sweet. Thanks for watching!
Another well crafted piece of equipment 💥
Thanks!
Hand made stuff is always the best and will last longer and be there to pass a long eventually.
Sweet stand
hot damn another good video , nice tool to have around for sure . always lookin forward to the next video and will be browsing around watching your older videos as well 👍
End of 2023 and it’s still good content 👍
Just accidentally saw this while googling striker stretcher . Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge I really appreciate it I hit the subscribe button
Looks damn cool. Got to ask if the pointed pedal has got you in the shins yet? Be well and stay safe.
Not yet!
@@PuddinsFabShop as a builder maker hedgerow engineer and bodger my shins show how cordless batteries got smaller over the last 30 years. Be well and stay safe. Your a funny dude and keep it up, brilliant stuff old chap.
I like the pinstripes. I think you did a Killa job on them and the stand.
I like watching you work....I can watch others work since I can’t do as much any more.
Great little project, I like how this turned out.
Pretty sweet tool! Love the striping too!
Thank you.
👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Good job, guy. Liked the build and design. Thanks.
Thanks for showing the work to make your stand Adding the special touches to the pedals and tabs makes it yours! Subbed
Thanks for subscribing!
I enjoy your videos 👍. Nice pinstripes! Unique
Really cool man I've been going back and watching your older videos... You could fabricate that and sell them on the own.... keep up the good work 👍.....JJ..
Really enjoy the channel rock on puddins
Good job! Just bought a shrinker and stretcher so a stand is something I need to build. Heading to my raw material/salvage pile to see what I can use!
Nice work. Love the paint scheme!
Thanks. Not bad for what I had !
Awesome work. You made it look easy.
Yes a dam good 👍 welder. Good video
Looks great, don't blame ya on making one. Dont have to buy it if you can make it. Doing something similar for the bucket seats in my c10. Requires aftermarket brackets and drilling holes in floor to mount. I cut two pieces of 1/2 diameter tubing to run across the floor, welding a total of 12 tabs to those to bolt the tubes to the floor and seats to the tubes. Saved me around $150 that way.
Hell ya!
Great stand Thank you for sharing.
I am presently making a stand myself for my shrinker/stretcher. And I will use some of your ideas too. But I think I will lower the foot pedals a little lower to the floor for my comfort. But nice project and very nice finish. Thumbs Up!
That’s a great idea. Some day in my nonexistent free time I plan to change the angle of mine.
You do such great work even when you say you're not trying very hard :)
Thank you!
Never seen you with just a mustache, looking fly dude!
You did an excellent job with that table and i think you have a flair for work keep it coming brother man
Fantastic job brother!!!
I just made one out of a old total gym workout machine,,lol,,built mine close to center post so lever slides on it,,take side to side movement out,,,and I put pedal closer to ground, alot more comfortable to operate,,,I went 42 inches high,,I couldn't buy one better than what I made for 20 dollars,,,lol,,and if you make your rod shorter to your shrinker and strecher your travel will decrease alot,,,to where you only have to push down a few inches,,,and makes your foot lever much closer to machine,,not criticising,,,just passing on what I found to work best,,and we both saved alot of money my friend. And its so much easier to use with 2 Hands on your peace your working. Hope Chuck Norris don't mind me chopping up the total gym,,,lol,,,mine is a beautiful peace of engineering..
That’s funny. Sounds like a good idea. I’ve thought about changing mine where the pedals not so high but it hasn’t bothered me enough yet.
When I was working we used a lot of threaded rod to hang pipe. We called those long nuts rod couplings.
👍🏻👍🏻
Nice build thanks for sharing.
Super nice stand with all the whistles. I can’t draw anything to save my life, but I do know the more you practice, the better you get. I thought the pin striping was awesome. And the more chances you get to tag stuff the better it will get. Great job !
I pinistripe to relax even though it frustrates me. That makes sense, right?
The brushes you use can make a big difference.
Gr8 job. Thank you for the vid and the measurements...😇😁
Thanks Puddin ,thats quite a complicated bit of fabricaton you,ve done there, i hope to make a stand one day for my shrinker/stretcher and this vidoe will be very usefull ,thanks again from Australia!
It’s not to bad, you can do it. Maybe even use just a old steel wheel as the base.
I like it, i was wondering what i should do to use these, bought them month ago. nice stand, now i just got make one.
Heck ya!
Nice job. The only thing I would have done, is weld colits, or sleeves at all the pivot points. Just for longevity. But very nice. I like your pinstripes.😁
good stuff man!
Great Job... Thanks for Sharing
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video. I need to make a spring compressor for automatic trans.
Thanks for watching!
Is this the Real PUDDIN' ???
What happened to my man??
Run outta coffee this Mornin' ??
DANG!! DOUBLE DANG !!!
Still great watching though..
👍
I feel like I'm watching the original Star Trek Klingon vs the Next Generation + Klingon...🤔
I like the hard stop good idea
Thank you! It does work!
Nice stand!
Great DIY
That came out slick
Even pin striped. Nice!
Great job man! Who taught you to weld?!! And the color coordinated paint scheme came out sweet, too. Your attention to detail turned a tool build into a work of art. And showing the finer details of the design will surely help others in their builds. It is the mark of a true gentleman to humblely share their gifts and knowledge so that others might learn, too. You are an inspiration on so many levels.....PMA.....THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for the kind words! MIG welding was self taught. Practice practice practice.
@@PuddinsFabShop Your practice has reeeally paid off!! I'm the wife of a perfectionistic artist and old car customizer. And I'm here to tell you, he does NOT dole out praise lightly. But he not only said, TWICE, how nice your welds are, but added that they're way nicer than his own! I nearly fainted!! But it is simply the truth....may your practice and clean results inspire many more to strive for the high standards you and my husband aspire to.
I like all the videos. 🙂👍
Turned out nice. Another great video 👍
Thank you shane. More on the shoebox around the corner
Mad skills brother
Cool mate this is going to help me make a foot for mine now good work.
Awesome man
Pretty Fancy from the Puddin' school of cool...
Lookin good puddin
Looks great, nice job!
Thank you!
Nice job. Tip you can replace those adjustable hard stops with the same feet fitted with urethane or nylon instead of rubber.
If I go solid I’m going solid. Lol a bolt will work. As of now I don’t plan to replace
its great watching you build these thing to make your work more efficient need to make a few my self
Thanks. It’s definitely worth the times it takes. !
Used your vid and one other as inspiration for a stand I just built. I made a video of it as well. The garage is turning into my sanctuary during this coronavirus lockdown! Keep up the good work!
Thanks you! I hope it helped. The shop is my sanctuary always!
Nice job.
Great info, there. Thanks for sharing. So, after using the shrinker and stretcher for a few years, are you still happy with them? Are they still working well for you?
Awesome project!👍👍👍
👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
your really quite good at what you do.....you a fabricator for your real job too?
Nope. I’m a professional at winging it!
@@PuddinsFabShop in the words of derrick from vgg....well i'll be dipped....lol
Thanks for sharing
Love finding these old ones....That's been awhile ago....lol Who is this guy and what did you do with Puddin'
That is cool 😎.
Very nice 👍🏻
Thanks brad!
Badass job. Haven't yet had a use for a shrinker or stretcher but now I want them. You should have thrown up an affiliate marketing link, just food for thought for next time.
I found these on eBay. If that helps lol
The whapper..... laughed my butt off.
Very nice work! Very good video! So, If I understand, you believe about 40" is a better height?
Nicely done. Found you through Primer & Rust, Rats & Rods FB group.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Nice work.
Thanks!
Good job you could have shown the kit red coloured one in detail close up image so that I can procure one like this. Still you did a great job keep it up
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
This is on my "to do" list for my deep throat harbor freight shrinker. Good motivation for me to actually get to it.
It’s worth the time to do it. Get it done! You will love it.
Nice job
Great video, I hope ya don't hook a shin on one of those peddles , they look like might hurt a little!! Lol
Thanks, Ill be building one soon after i get the concrete poured on the garage I just built
Awesome! Congratulations on the garage being built!
Guess I'll have to buy a set so I can make a stand. Do you catch your shin on those pedals though?
Dang that shit look sweet
Shweet!!
Nice
great video....are those the bigger heavy duty ones? I've seen the 2 sizes and those look like the bigger ones than like Harbor Freight sells. I'll be building this stand thanks.
These ones are the same size as the harbor freight so believe.
@@PuddinsFabShop OK...just looked bigger, good to know . thanks
No problem.
Great gob
🤩🤩🤩
I know it’s been done awhile but nice job.
Thanks!
