Personally the Catcher in the Rye is one of my favourite novels of all time. It is the only book that I have ever related to and connected with. I can however understand why some people do not like it. When I read it in school the rest of my class hated it so don't worry Jessica you are not alone. :)

I loved Catcher in the Rye, but I've read it when I was 14. I was so obsessed with it that I've read every single JD Salinger that was translated at the time. But age does have an impact on whether or not you will enjoy/connect with a book.

Your thoughts on Catch in the Rye are my views too. Don't feel bad about it, there are actually literary groups who pick apart books like this to find meaning in everything about it. Same can be said of books by Ernest Hemingway, they get picked apart for every little bit of meaning and symbolism. In college I read The Old Man and the Sea and the question I had on test was: What is the symbolism of the bird landing on the bow of the boat? Who gives a s&i#. Anyway, I enjoyed the 5th Wave too. Take care!

I know where you're coming from with Catcher in the Rye. I have a very love/hate relationship with that book. I absolutely loved it when I read it in high school. Hated it when I read it again in university. And loved it (though for different reasons to when I was younger) when I recently re-read it. I think you definitely have to be in the right mood for it.

Great TBR! Salinger is great. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of Catcher, but Franny and Zooey is great. Happy reading!

Don't worry, for Catcher in the Rye there are 2 camps-the love it and hate it camps so it is normal that you feel that way about it. I actually bought it a few years ago because i realized that it was one of those books i escaped reading in both HS and college so I needed to see what all the fuss was about but then i watched some loved it or hated it reviews online and realized without even having to read it that i was going to despise Holden Caulfield so I realized that i realy didn't want to read it and put it in a giveaway pile.

I have Slaughterhouse Five on my shelf but haven't read it yet, so I'm curious to hear what you think (so I can figure out where on my TBR to place it). I didn't love Catcher in the Rye, and no, the end doesn't really wrap up anything, it's just a story of a disgruntled, disturbed boy. Some people LOVE it, others not so much.

Origin by Jessica Khoury is kind of a jungle survival story.

Try NIL as its jungle survival-y. It's also one of those hate it or love it books.

Is Stacy no longer apart of Chapterchicks? And I feel you. I can't read books when I'm forced and I have a real hard time reading classics. My brain won't function when I'm reading them.

Yeah, I've been wondering what happened to Stacy.

I think BookTubers should be able to get a special note that excuses you from doing reading for college so you can read your fun books haha

Great selection of reads for February. And for March. What happened to Stacy did she leave the channel?

Enjoyed your video. I was wondering about Stacy though... Is she not doing videos anymore?

I hated Catcher in the Rye, and it doesn't get better. At least in my opinion haha

Don't know how you feel about NA and Adult books since they feature sex and that's not everyone's thing (although don't you guys like Anne Rice?) but some SURVIVAL STORIES I've read that I've really liked are On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves and Surviving Raine by Shay Savage (this one is a bit racy though so beware). I also recently purchased Withering Hope by Layla Hagen which I haven't read yet but I've heard good things...

I was not a Catcher in the rye fan either. Holden was really annoying.

Does anyone else hear the faint ringing in the background of the video??? I can't even watch, it's bothering me so much :(

Yes, I address it in the info. I had my baby monitor too close to the camera (even though I've filmed this way a bunch of times before) and for some reason the three videos I filmed that day had that horrible sound. I tried to fix it the best I could, I AM SO SORRY! Problem is definitely fixed in future videos.

No problem! :) And I didn't think you sounded rude, I can definitely imagine how annoying it is. I don't blame you for closing, it sucks! I tried to edit it out as much as possible, but I'm just not that savvy! It is not a problem I experience a lot though so don't worry!
