Hello, My name is Jackie and the videos come to you from County Mayo in the West of Ireland.
My name is Jackie.
We bought a derelict cottage in 2014 and eventually moved to the Republic of Ireland from the UK in 2016.
We had previously lived in social housing so it was a very exciting time for us.
We gradually renovated the cottage and made it home.
I live here in County Mayo with Helen, two donkeys, four dogs, and chickens.
We have 1.2 acres to take care of, can you imagine what that land looked like when nobody had lived in the cottage for 10 years, that's when I decided I wanted to document life here, so then came UA-cam.
Life on the smallholding is of course a labour of love, no matter what time of the year it is there are still jobs that need to be done.
I do hope that you will enjoy the videos.
Through the channel, we have made some lifelong friends it is an amazing community, and it truly is !!

Lovely update Jackie. I never dug up my dahlias in Dublin and they came back every year. I planted garlic today, have shallots under cover, turnips, leeks, iceberg lettuce, beetroot and onions in modules indoors. Can't wait to plant my potatoes though. Anyway, apparently Met Eireann saying St. Patrick's day could well be white instead of green due to snow!!! Hope ye are both going well, take care, x J
Hi Joan, lovely to hear from you, think I will leave the tubers in too if yours are ok. I never have much luck with turnip Joan is there a knack ? I’m going to do some sowing next week when it’s cold I’ll get set up in the tunnel. Off to Horkans tomorrow just for a look 😂xx
Ooo Horkans, beautiful store 💚❤️ re my turnips, I just put them in and let them do their thing, I don't add anything except water if the leaves look a bit stressed, nothing else.
Hi Jackie, so nice to see you. You've got a lot of work done outside ready for new plantings - it looks great! Here in Detroit we are in the middle of a snowstorm, expecting 6 to 10 inches. I have a lot started indoors, onions, peppers, flowers and my first succession flat all sizing up to get outside when the weather breaks. I have a few thornless blackberries to go in as well. I'd like to get a lot more berries growing in the garden. Hope you and Helen are well. Is she starting her peppers soon? All the best, Audrey
Hiya Audrey , lovely to hear from you , wow hope the snow soon melts it’s ok for a while if you’re like me I soon get fed up with it. I would love more berries and bits in the garden even some gooseberries , I’ve got an idea for the strawberries 🍓. Sounds like you are doing great too with the peppers and flowers etc . Helen is growing some peppers indoors I’m sure she will show them soon . Anyway keep warm x

We still have snow, but I'm dreaming of a spring garden.
I bought gladiolus, dahlias, dicentra, lilies and two large bags of soil. :)

Hiya 👋🏻 , sounds lovely all of those flowers love gladioli, first time for us the dahlia, we may get some snow next week as there is a cold front moving in . Roll on your spring garden :)
@@Thegonepotties - I had gladioli and dahlias before and then it became a chore to dig them up at the end of the season. Now they're new to me again.
I hope the cold front misses you.
One of our subscribers doesn’t did them up and they come up every year , I’m going to do that I think 🧐

I am growing in Zone6B and there's no hope for me.
That's "OK" now I have the time to play in the garden.

That’s weird isn’t it not sure what’s going on there Cal. The colour is ebony they look great all painted , I find it really relaxing , a trellis to do next x
