I can't believe it! Today is the day! Book number 3! Thank you all for making this possible and I really hope you enjoy it! geni.us/Veg-Grower-Handbook ☺️
I ordered it today, it is arriving next week. 😊 So excited! Much love from Sweden
My book has just arrived! 🎉
You incredible Huw-man, keep up the good work!
Your content has been of great value these last years and deserves support. Book is ordered and will be in my hands by march 8. Keep it up! 😀
Just ordered! You truly are awesome 👏🏻
Congratulations on the new book, Huw! Just wondering, have you ever tried inoculating your compost pile with soil samples from local forests? I took a tablespoon of soil from a couple old forests in my area, and my compost and soil is now much richer in fungal life!
now thats an idea worth exploring! thanks for sharing.
Good day. In general foreign fungus and baterial inputs will be outcompeted by local existing micro organisms. However if a niche exists that isn't filled yet it can add. Usually it doesn't. Kr
Yes absolutely! This is a big part of Korean Natural Farming which is one of my biggest influences! Watch this space😊
Been meaning to get that and saturate organisms to add to soil Ala Dr Elaine Ingham.
I’ll have to do that we have woods on our property, thanks for the tip.
I like how you share where/who you picked up your ideas from! Looking forward to ordering the book 🤩🙌🏽

Gardening hacks and eye candy, it's a good morning!
He is a handsome man, isn’t he?
Great collection of tips Huw, some I had long forgotten about such as the plank over a newly sown row of seeds, it used to be familiar sight in the 70's and I dont think I have seen it since till you reminded me last year...Steve...😁

Interesting to hear you say that potatoes are ‘quite destructive of the soil’ and to grow in containers. I discovered quite the opposite here in Tuscany Italy in my start up garden…. The container potatoes dried out quickly and required a lot of water and attention and I got no crop. However the quality of a clay soil after a first crop of potatoes has been beautiful. Very happy with my first grown crop of potatoes too! I suspect the exudates from the potatoes help the soil microbiology to develop. Next year I want to put my potatoes crops using No Dig with straw on all my new garden beds as a first crop. One can rarely have enough potatoes! Huw, thanks for sharing your gardening experience with us all.
I received an unexpected parcel in the post today - a secret extra belated Christmas present from my brother! It's absolutely gorgeous. Delighted...
Congratulations on your book! I'm amazed that you continue to find useful, fresh, and effective tips to share with us. Your garden is a treasure and I so appreciate you sharing all your considerable garden wisdom. Thank you from Virginia, USA.

Awhh thank you! You definitely won't regret having this one😉
The plank on direct sew seeds is AMAZING! Works soooo well, everytime!
Grow Food for Free being delivered today. Can't wait. I'm a total novice but love your vids. Speaking in a language I can understand, no big words or baffling science. Just ordering this book now. HUGE HUGS and thanks.xxx
You're very welcome! Hope it is useful for you! Thanks for your support :)
Congratulations Huw. Looking forward to getting your new book.....I have watched your videos for many years and have learned immensely from them.
Excellent work on publishing book #3! Congrats and keep up the great work!
Also, thanks for sharing where you heard these ideas from. I love to hear my favorite UA-camrs all riffing off each other and creating better and better ideas/ or making them more available to non-gardener natives. 🙏🙏🙏
Hey hue thanks for your videos, I’m a chef who’s trying to start a garden to grow produce for my food truck, I’ve been watching, self sufficient me, epic gardening, James prigioni, and you have been my favorite, I love your style of gardening! Just bought your book! Thanks bro! Out here in Bay Area California!

I've been watching your videos for quite some time now. You've come a long way since your first video of planting small seedlings. Keep up the great work sir and long live the passion of gardening.
I have a big zippered binder with 4-pocket photo organizer pages to organize my seed packets. It makes it super easy to flip through and see exactly what I have any time I want.
Lovely video as usual Huw!
Congratulations on your new book Huw. Your hacks as normal are amazing. I am taking away some new ones to try from your video. Thank you for what you do for us veg growers.
Will definitely fill in any gaps with herbs and that plank method is like nothing I've ever seen, wow! I appreciate all these simple yet effective tips.
A great, condensed amount of very useful tips - one never stops learning! I'm definitely going to try the beans-between-beds, never thought of that myself, hurrumph! So obvious!!
I appreciate that you give credit where it's due. I have learned a lot from you and the people you cite.
I mentioned the other day that my copy of your book had been dispatched and now it's here! I have flicked through it, from back to front (just because I am left handed and find it easier to flick this way). The pictures are fantastic. I've also read the odd paragraph here and there. I've been growing vegetables for a couple of decades but there is always something new to learn and there are lots of interesting topics in your book. I will definitely be reading it from cover to cover and am excited about trying out quite a lot of new things! Thanks so much for your videos and congratulations on your new book.
Congratulations! Also, I wish Amazon used wool packing material instead of that bubble wrap!
We don't have wool packing in Oz either, but I do re-use bubble wrap in the garden. Bubble side in and smooth side out it makes good insulation for pots in the greenhouse over winter.
Congrats on number 3 book 🎉.
Have been watching you for several years & you always give us good information…. Even tho I’m in Nevada USA 🇺🇸. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
So much knowledge and good practice shared among the people, great!
Amazing garden! Thank you for sharing these great tips!!
I just found your videos - brilliant! More bonuses to leaving plants to flower is that it helps provide for the pollinators as well as providing exudates from the roots that feed the bacteria and fungi. thanks for the great videos.
Congratulations! Well done! We love watching your inspirational, educational and practical videos. We are on the other side of the world (New Zealand) but that doesn't stop us from gardening! Thank you!

I have a hack that works for me in my arid region. Most of my beds are raised but a few are in the ground especially those where I grow brassicas. Watering those areas can be difficult, with the water running off rather than going in. I cut the bottoms off of gallon size plastic nursery pots (which I have plenty) then bury them about half way in the ground. I plant the young brassica seedling in the center. Then, all I have to do is go around and fill the pots with water which is directed straight down to the roots. I use much less water and the plants do great. Also, I don't get many weeds since I'm not watering the whole bed.
Thanks for the great plank tip Huw! I have used it with success on my carrots before but never thought of using it on lettuce or beets. We live in a desert area in Idaho, USA and keeping things moist is a never ending effort. You might have mentioned it before but sowing carrot seeds via a corn starch gel is a great way to plant them, eliminating much thinning. Love your videos. Thanks and best wishes!
I've just bought your book! I'm moving into my own home later this year and I have a big beautiful blank-canvas garden. Been enjoying your videos and your book will be very helpful, I'm sure! Thanks Huw!
That's great news! Congratulations! I hope my book will serve you well :)
Your tips and videos are like nourishment to me. Thank you so much!
I have bought your book yesterday, can't wait to receive it ! I love your videos, all the things I learn and the time you put in them, they are as gorgeous as your vegetables!! Thanks again :)
Great! Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy :)
Very generous of you to share your hacks. Happy summer from New York
Vert glad that it is offered as an Ebook.
Hi Huw, I've been using the plank method ever since I saw it on one of your videos, it is incredibly successful and I tell everyone about it! I do make sure to look under the planks every day to check for our little slimy friends- this becomes another advantage to using this method in keeping down slug numbers!
Huw, congratulations on the book...it looks beautiful. I'm excited to be able to get it in the USA next month! As always, happy for you and proud of all the work you have accomplished and thanks for continuing to share your knowledge with us. I always feel like I'm in a master gardening class with Professor Richards.
Wow! Thank you Darin! I like the sound of Professor Richards!
Glad you find my videos/books useful. Thanks so much for your support :)
Just got the book through the letterbox today! I'm excited to dig in! Looks beautiful and full of info by the quick look I had :)
Keep doing what you do Huw and ty for reminding me of the plank technique.
There's some great hacks here, some that I will use myself. As for the "plank" method for germinating seeds, I've used a form of that for years: Sometimes I sow seeds in squares as well as rows and I always cover my newly-sown seeds with anything I have available - maybe an old piece of carpet, piece of plywood or cardboard, slightly weighted down. I never have to worry about my seeds drying out.
I like the hack of growing pumpkin in your compost ! Thanks for sharing. Congrats for your book
I love your channel, love all your great gardening tips. I just bought 2 of your new books, one for my daughter & myself.
Looking forward to receiving them. Thanks Huw 🙂
The straw hack is so sweet haha.
Congratulations on your book release! Regarding the plank over the sown seeds: it occurs to me that the plank also protects the seeds from birds and rodents that might otherwise pick and eat the seeds. Here at our small, city apartment, we have had a balcony garden through the pandemic and struggled with keeping the squirrels (and an occasional rat) away from the seeds. Sowing indoors and then transplanting helped but it didn't occur to me to cover the seeds. Thanks for the tip! BTW: I like your channel because your climate zone is similar to mine. The California gardeners are nice to watch but I prefer to learn from someone who knows about the weather challenges I will face in the Midwest.
5 seconds in, I saw the book and cut away to Amazon to order. I’m confident it will be good, your videos are always helpful.
Wow thank you so much Sheila!!!
Oh I just got it in the mail! It's beautiful! I'll be pouring over it the next few weeks. So exciting 🥰
YAY!!! So pleased to hear it thank you!!
Thank you! My book just arrived today, I can't wait to read it out and learn from the best! I very much recommend it, it's quality is perfect, and every single side is very detailed and informative!
Wow that's amazing!!! Thank you so much! If you get a spare moment to leave an honest review then I would be so grateful 😊🌱
@@HuwRichards I like that it's detailed in such a way that is easily understandable for everyone, the pages are very well organized, and you can learn everything from planning your garden until you have your beautiful harvests in your hands! I especially like the different vegetable's information, it's very compact and tells everything that I need to know about them and it doesn't matter where you are in the world, for example, I live in Hungary and I can still use every single tip this book can give! Thank you again, and I hope I'll be able to read your other books as well, congratulations, this is one of the best gardening books on the market! Keep up the good work! :)
Received my hardback copy of your book yesterday and its fantastic. I loved it so much but didn't want to mark it up with high-lighting or annotations, so bought the kindle version too. Now i can take it in the garden, read the bits I need in situ, and not have to worry about dirtying up those pages. Oh, and my favourite bit so far HAS to be the Master Growing Chart. Awesome. Thanks Huw.
Fantastic! Thank you so much! Hope it proves helpful for you :)
Congratulations on your new book and thank you for the amazing tips and kacks.
I love the plank and the stick&string idea! Thank you for this video!

I just received your book in the mail. So excited to dive in. LOVE your channel.
Great tips! I'm going to try to plank tio for my carrots this year. Just remember that a large bucket of water is a drowning hazard for young children. If you have any children/grandchildren/etc, it might be better to stick with filling your buckets directly from your rain barrels.
Yes! My toddler grandson stumbled and fell into my bird water bucket, head first, right before my eyes. Had I not been standing just a couple feet away, it would've ended badly.
@@VanBuren0926 oh, my goodness!! Praise God, you were there and saw it! So glad you're little one is ok! ❤💜
