  • Overgrown Power Line Right Of Way Mowing
    One of the major causes of power disruptions and outages are trees and vegetation that come in contact with the power lines. Trees or brush that touch electric lines can create short circuits that cause your power to go out. That is why most power companies contract out regular vegetation maintenance of the right of way (ROW).
    We’ve been asked to help out the local power company by clearing the right of way next to some power lines. In order to reach and remove this area of massive growth, it requires compact equipment.
    So today, we’re doing everyone’s favorite job, Tough-cutting.
    We have the Ventrac 4520P (Kawasaki engine) with a mid-mount weight kit installed, Tough Cut brush mowing deck, dual wheels, and canopy with fan.
    This patch of out-of-control brush and grass is the perfect size for the Tough Cut to handle; the growth is green and stemmy but also woody, and the small saplings and bushes have a ½”-¾” diameter. The Tough Cut will clear out this 40-foot by 130-yard area easily and efficiently.
    The mid-mount weight kit gives the tractor added downforce on the front wheels and ultimately better traction overall. In addition, the dual wheels provide further stability on steep inclines and sloped terrain. On the Tough Cut deck, we have the capability to hydraulically flip up the deck to work on it if needed. And the canopy with a fan adds to operator comfort.
    Because the FlexFrame hugs the terrain so well and the tractor articulates and oscillates, it is able to crawl up, over, and around the mounds of earth that have been formed near the electric poles throughout the right of way. This job was safely and efficiently completed by a single operator in 2 hours.

    im wondering if after the tough cut sites can be improved a little more with a few passes of the fast flail every 3 weeks to keep the weeds and woody material from forming

    Power lines are long and wide across rough terrain. Once brush is cut, then the 95” deck would be the best solution?

    Getting close to leaf cleanup season. Is Ventrac working on fixing what the material collection system can be compatible with? Like the flashers and the canopy? For people who drive on the road or do landscaping this would be crucial to be able to do. Have the collection system with the canopy and the flashers! Come on ventrac you can do it!

      You're in luck! The RV602 Collection Vac is compatible with the new 70.4169 Ventrac Canopy that Aaron is using in the video. It might be tough to see, but on the four corners of his canopy there are also strobe lights installed.

    • @Zanderthelab
      @Zanderthelab 2 роки тому

      @@ventractraining1350 yeah I’ve seen the strobe. I love that little touch. Would they replace the flashers in this case?
      Could the flashers be removable or relocated in the future?

      @@Zanderthelab The 70.4162 Directional/Hazard light kit is compatible with the new 70.4169 Canopy. But that hazard light kit is not compatible with the RV602 because how the vac mounts to the right side of the tractor. The canopy strobes are always visible making those the better option when using the collection vac.

    Why not have hydraulic motors on the deck

    • @InsightLandCare
      @InsightLandCare 2 роки тому +2

      The drives for the blades are a belt driven system, it helps keep hydraulic temps down and also acts as a "clutch if a blade stops. The belt will slip and there are no shear pins to replace ever.

    • @justinbeamon6624
      @justinbeamon6624 2 роки тому +1

      Hit a large object with hydraulics and you're done. Wasted time that'll cost a ton. The belt driven system means you hit the same thing and it's just a belt and a small break to replace and you're back in action.
