Hell yeah this song rings true. From college baseball '06. I played alot of baseball in high school and use to listen to this when practicing. Damon the years fly by. I miss those days.
This album came out the summer I graduated from high school and I fucking loved it to death back then. Pretty sure I burned a hole in the cd listening to this and Montauk relentlessly day after day. The whole album made such an impression on me at the time that I couldn't avoid listening to it constantly. I grew up a bit and went a long time without listening at all but the other day I threw it on for old times sake. It hits me on the same level now. But now I'm 28 and it has taken on a whole new meaning, just as relevant though. What makes this album so great is the honestly genuine lyrics, it's like Anthony Raneri lives deep inside my head whether I'm 18 or 28. What else makes this album so cool is the dual guitar freakouts that come at a relentless pace. THere are 2 or 3 dueling solos on some of these songs. And this album came out at a time when guitar solos weren't particularly cool, so I think that is another reason I latched onto it so hard. Bayside was just the coolest band ever back then, and unless you were a scene kiddo circa 2005 good luck understanding this.
Steve Perry I'm french, 27 yo and I get you. Just to explain : I'm a music lover, and have very different phases going from Rocksteady to Hip-Hop, through Punk-Rock etc. I love Jazz and blues mostly. Just to get it, my father was a great musician and was very strict with music. He hated "fake musicians" and such, and it got me through hard times when I was in love with my generation bands such as Rage Against The Machine or even the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Yet I listened to a lot of bands such as Bayside even if it wasn't "great music" 'cause I simply loved the energy. Anyway I was listening to Bayside when this album came out and for a full summer a friend and me couldn't stop listening to it. At the time I would listen mostly to NOFX or Bad Religion so it was very different, kinda "teenager punk" for me. Loved it anyway. Then as I grew up and gave up skateboarding and so on, I slowly moved away from punk and was focusing on Blues and Jazz. But at 24 I suddenly started listening to punk rock again feeling like I had been a dumbass to stop listening to it. You know when you play and listen to a lot of music as you grow up, automatically you tend to reject your past love for a band. And that's a shame really. So a few days ago Bayside came to my mind out of nowhere and I listened to 3 of their albums again, this one being my favorite, and same as you: not much because of the lyrics (cause they're a bit naive in my opinion) but because of the tracks construction, the energy, the little breaks and solos... I mean this is not really new but it just pleases me. And I liked the way you tried to exlain that you just enjoyed the music for what it is. Same for me. If my head's moving, if the rythm flows to me or if I start shouting after the break I'm good to go. There's no age for a type of music, just a present feeling! Anyway, nice to hear these songs again thanks for uploading it!
@cakeisbetterthenfish He does game commentaries, he told everyone about how he met the lead singer once (Bayside frequently goes to where he lives) and Sick sick sick became our anthem :)
Trying to create something that's not there. A spark I saw as a bomb is just a means to an end. And I was just so happy to be out of my shell again, Don't think that I really cared for who or what. So for now I'll just have to keep it shut. If you're not ready, you're not ready. Please stop acting like you are. How could I know That everything you say are lies about devotion and desire? And I know the spark inside your eyes Was just the match I used to set myself on fire. My mouth's shooting blanks. Situation's unbearable, I've gotten vulnerable. Now anyone is free to waltz right in. My temple's been invaded And there's nobody guarding it. All over this lonely life, But what's so wrong with being all alone? Alone's the only way I've ever known. If you're not ready, you're not ready. Please stop acting like you are. How could I know That everything you say are lies about devotion and desire? And I know the spark inside your eyes Was just the match I used to set myself on fire. I'm pleading cause this kills and it's still bleeding. My darling I'm taking my life back to start healing. How could I know That everything you say are lies about devotion and desire? And I know the spark inside your eyes Was just the match I used to set myself on fire
Honestly the only reason I know this band is from an former friend of mine. He was a total douche that was on the spectrum but used it as an excuse to pretty much act and treat people however he wanted. Literally the only good thing I got out of that friendship was him showing me Bayside. He is a douche but I will forever be grateful he showed me some great fucking music
still basically sounds like every other alt, pop punk, and screamo singer when they sing, same with the guitar and drums =/ guitar solo wasn't too bad thou

I always listened to this song while I played MVP baseball 06

Fr being listening to this for 3 years
i like how their/his/whoever voice isnt whiny or gross sounding when they hit high notes
Oohh, yeah I really dislike songs with bad singers. Sometimes the instruments and overall song make up for it though
MVP baseball had no business going this hard on a soundtrack 😤😤
I love this song.

2024 whos still here?
Trying to create something that's not there.
A spark I saw as a bomb is just a means to an end.
And I was just so happy to be out of my shell again,
Don't think that I really cared for who or what.
So for now I'll just have to keep it shut.
If you're not ready, you're not ready.
Please stop acting like you are.
How could I know
That everything you say are lies about devotion and desire?
And I know the spark inside your eyes
Was just the match I used to set myself on fire.
My mouth's shooting blanks.
Situation's unbearable,
I've gotten vulnerable.
Now anyone is free to waltz right in.
My temple's been invaded
And there's nobody guarding it.
All over this lonely life,
But what's so wrong with being all alone?
Alone's the only way I've ever known.
If you're not ready, you're not ready.
Please stop acting like you are.
How could I know
That everything you say are lies about devotion and desire?
And I know the spark inside your eyes
Was just the match I used to set myself on fire.
I'm pleading cause this kills and it's still bleeding.
My darling I'm taking my life back to start healing.
How could I know
That everything you say are lies about devotion and desire?
And I know the spark inside your eyes
Was just the match I used to set myself on fire
@xeNduRaNcex nahhh sometimes he sounds kinda whiny

Alone is the only way I known
reminds me a bit of avenged sevenfold!
I like their song afterlife avenged sevenfold. See Ricky - AVENGED SEVENFOLD - Afterlife (Drum Cover)
But that's the only AS song I know ^^'
His voice reminds me of Mike Palm from Agent Orange. Especially in that first line.

Joel Faviere's is better, in my opinion.
Love this song!
