Right?! It gives you a whole new perspective and appreciation for jobs people have. I had no idea what a designer's job was like and all the work that goes into it. We need an in-depth day in the life of everyone in the studio
As a junior motion designer myself, seeing this breakdown gives me a sense of relatability on the creative processes taking place when animating. Been waiting for this and it's timely!
I know right? In the same boat as you. My process feels really messy to me but apparently that is how everyone does it. By messy, I mean, sometimes you just find something as you keep playing with the shapes and layers you have on screen and just starting to move stuff around will lead to something that works. And that's what I see here. So, this was really relatable to me as well.
so glad to see michael finally appearing for more than 2mins !! i've always felt that he was kind of left out being away from everyone and not being able to do stuff together... great work and great video !
The Ohhhhhhhhhs at the end is so satisfying. As a graphic designer at the core, this is the stuff I really enjoy and is always overlooked. The research and concept design process was awesome. Great BTS video.

The fact that the "Coffee break" segment is the longest chapter in this video is such a mood.
You have no idea how many times I have started an MKBHD video this year and just repeatedly hit the 0 key to see the intro again and again. It is the most satisfying bit of animation I've seen in a long while. Amazing job, Michael!
More videos like this please! Really motivating seeing the actual process. It’s like a colleague actually breaking down their thought process on their work. And the respect and discipline it takes to make such thing exist. Love it!
MKBHD and LTT have managed to create amazing teams. I've seen how production quality has improved over the years, and it keeps going up. Watching this video actually makes me feel nostalgic remembering the first videos, and also happy for all of you.
I just noticed the Saturn artwork in the back by James R. Eads! I have several posters from his collab with Adam Young (of Owl City) for his sountrack/score project in 2016. Super cool to see it in "public" though! haha
Them coming together at the end to admire what they created. It’s beautiful to see. Shows hope for the new year and appreciation for what’s led to now. The video was put together really well. Doesn’t get too technical and has fun elements such as going to the cafe or working with different sounds. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2023! Great work guys!
I really admire how about 3 sec. of intro has this much depth and care into it. Really good video, hoping to see more videos about the filming process.
As I tick in 10+ years in Motion design. Using your hands and making silly sounds to "test" out your animations before creating them is KEY!! Great video, fun to follow the process!
I feel like the fun vibe it gives off is really good for the hard and fast impression/review videos of tech (especially in the hectic tech-tember/tober) while having a more subtle and quiet intro animation would add weight to the more slow paced and thoughtful discussion videos. I know having separate animations for different types of videos would at least double your workload on that front (depending how many “types” you have) but it’s an idea.
I remember encountering the new intro the first time and watching it 10 times. So seamless and perfect that I literally watched it frame by frame to see how it came together
WOW! This video shared similar energy which videos from the futur channel have. Loved it! The way Michael shared his process was awesome. I enjoyed when he started explaining why keyframes have different shape due to easing, such minute details were icing on this beautiful cake.
I really enjoyed this video from beginning to end. It’s always nice to see members of the team working, and I loved how this intro came together. Amazing job to everyone.
Really enjoying this channel and the behind the scene videos. I may not enjoy certain tech products video since I don’t use them but watching you guys making videos from nothing is always fascinating, even more so when the team is full of different characters and energy ❤️☺️
I looked at the title and the thumbnail with that "Ae" logo that I hate so much and I expected a boring or technical video tutorial. Instead, the variety of content shown in the video (almost as a vlog), the work approach and behind the scenes, the thoughts behind the design process made this video SO interesting to me as a creative. Also the direction was interesting, I really enjoyed it!
I loved this video. I find it incredibly interesting to see behind the scenes for something that seems so small but such a huge amount of thought and care goes into. MKBHD team is unrivaled
You were great Michael! So natural. Amazing camera framing, great vibe with the background, plant, and Pro Display, I’d watch a whole channel of you doing this!
The existential moment he has at around 13:45 - 14:07 when he says he looked back at the footage and saw how he exists in the world everyday and that's a wild experience... I understood. Even though I don't vlog or talk to camera or film myself talking to anything... I also have massive respect for him telling us about the process while working on the project. That's so hard to do. To think and focus and figure out your creation, and then talk about it in a cohesive way, and to a camera, is very impressive. I can't talk and work at the same time when it's very focused work. Such a cool video and I loved the animation when I saw it for the first time in video intros. Huge congratulations on the animation 🎉
Totally relate to the whole “hands” thing. If people are around when I’m working on an animation it probably looks weird, but it’s the best way I’ve found to help me visualize a sequence before I commit to spending time on it.
I'm so envious of designers like these who get to spend a lot of time on just one singular thing like this and make it REALLY good. Super fuckin good work! The kind of "locking into place" part of it is SO damn satisfying!
had this bookmarked a while so i can sit and actually watch this. love to see another animator bring things to life. impressed by how a sound designer can take things to another level. cheers.
So cool to this the behind the scenes of a part so meticulously studied and created. This is just an example of the care and effort of you're putting on all the projects! Really appreciate it! Michael is awesome as vlogger. And more technical videos would be really appreciate!
As a motion designer, I can assure u that those sound effects Michael was making with his mouth while envisioning the animation are an absolute necessity. All the animators from around the globe will agree. 😄 Loved this video btw.
That is the perfect transition intro.. making it so quick and cool that you want to watch it back again n again. Not boring that you fell like skipping it. You guys are talented.
Your level of humility is a very respectable sight to see. Hope we see more of you on this channel. Also nice to see another Cali/BayArea dude on the channel.
I assume Micheal also did work on the MKBHD Plugin thats on MotionVFX, right? Just wanna say that this Pack, and the style in general, inspired me to finally learn how to use Davinci Resolve just so i can use these plugins. It's been 1 year now and my Video quality has improved drastically and the numbers prove it. I felt a bit stuck and had about 2.000 Subs last year, now im at 10.000 Subs and almost 3 Mio views.
That was awesome seeing the whole thing from start to finish. And mad props to Michael for starting with actual printed designs for inspiration. Tech is great but paper (and pencil) is sweet! Favorite part - the reaction of the team!
Nineteenth! (but I saw this first)
Am l going crazy or did the channel name change ? From MKBHD to your name.
@@aryadhole his channel name was always his name.
This should be a series for everyone in the office. Also seeing this, Michael would make a banging vlogging channel.
fr Micheal could make his own channel I would watch his videos if he ever made one
No one wants to see me answer emails for 8 hours a day.
yes plz
Right?! It gives you a whole new perspective and appreciation for jobs people have. I had no idea what a designer's job was like and all the work that goes into it. We need an in-depth day in the life of everyone in the studio
It gave me Marko vibes
Ellis using binaural ears as a microphone on his desk has to be the biggest and yet most subtle flex ever
my thoughts exactly. what a flex but only like ifyky
@@benjaminaguilera8097 fr
@PrinceofGames because that thing is might expensive.
@PrinceofGames that mic costs upwards of 5000$ dollars...that's why
@@rohanghugari7 More like 399$ or 649$, depending on which version he took. Just looked it up. The most expensive black pro edition costs 1999$
It would be cool if you published a short showing the evolution of the intro over time!
Yessss
commenting because i can't infinite like it
That's an awesome idea! Hope they do it!
Great idea 💡
It's always super cool to see this side of the channel! Intro looks dope as hell.
🕳️
I have been waiting since the birth if this channel for a Michael video. Thank you for delivering!
So have we! We're glad to finally have a dedicated video to more formally introduce him and his role to the audience.

Exactly! I'm doing animation rn and this give more depth
I was thinking the exact same thing! It's really encouraging to watch something like this.
I always get the craziest creative block when starting these..
so glad to see michael finally appearing for more than 2mins !! i've always felt that he was kind of left out being away from everyone and not being able to do stuff together... great work and great video !
Literally the best thing about new year is getting to see the new MKBHD info graphic
Facts 😂
It’s impressive how much work goes in a seamless animation. Great work.
The Ohhhhhhhhhs at the end is so satisfying. As a graphic designer at the core, this is the stuff I really enjoy and is always overlooked. The research and concept design process was awesome. Great BTS video.

SO far the best video on The Studio. Sound Design made it just awesome.

we college students, need more of these! to see the process and the dynamics frome each work is just, chefs kiss
As a graphic design student, I always love the vids with Tim and now seeing Michael’s process is so sick. Please more design related videos!!
10/10 video. I’m a graphic designer and I’m trying to get into the motion effects and animation field. This was sick!
I just noticed the Saturn artwork in the back by James R. Eads! I have several posters from his collab with Adam Young (of Owl City) for his sountrack/score project in 2016. Super cool to see it in "public" though! haha
He knows well to Markes introducing the Madeon's aesthetic.
This was so amazing to see! It's crazy how good everyone in the studio is at what they do. Blown away guys, blown away
ngl i Might have been starting to like The Studio’s content more than the main channel 😂😅 y’all are so cool
big props to the whole team!!
I see that Adam Young Scores poster in the background. You get a billion points.
Nice to see Adam Young's Voyager 1 album cover in the background 👍
After actually seeing the amount of work put into this . I'm now starting to appreciate the little details of the channel. Kudos to the team!
I was legit blown away by how good the new intro was this year! Great work!
The first video I saw this year, I replayed the opening like 6 times because you could tell this was special,
Them coming together at the end to admire what they created. It’s beautiful to see. Shows hope for the new year and appreciation for what’s led to now. The video was put together really well. After studio tour. This has to be the second most favourite video of mine from this channel
y’all’s videos genuinely keep me focused on my goals, watching the workflow of the most talented people in the world is very inspiring
Sound designers are something else… how in the world do you come up to combine all those sounds and make it sound so good 😅
As I tick in 10+ years in Motion design. Using your hands and making silly sounds to "test" out your animations before creating them is KEY!! Great video, fun to follow the process!

That Good Faith Forever picture at 2:29 is amazing, super happy to see a Madeon ref!
I was so much more impressed with the swift creation of the sound design by layering. Wow wow wow
It's so cool to see this process! Thanks, Michael and Ellis! You all are super talented. :)
imma be honest. ive been watching yall for 4 years and I think last years intro cannot be topped. it was beutiful! love yall.
The Draplin 'Pretty Much Everything' book is such a fantastic repository. Great taste and work, Michael!

Possibly the best Studio video so far.
I really enjoyed this video from beginning to end. It’s always nice to see members of the team working, and I loved how this intro came together. Amazing job to everyone.
As a motion designer i can't describe how much i appreciate this video. It's amazing and inspiring to see Michael's process and work, ty a lot
It's so fascinating to see behind the scenes stuff like this, makes me appreciate their work and creativity more and not just watch the video.
Some say he's too talented, and that he's actually Banksy. All we know is he's called Michael Emerick.
As a graphic designer too. It was nice to see tutorial to help me with my 3d form in motion class
Really enjoying this channel and the behind the scene videos. I may not enjoy certain tech products video since I don’t use them but watching you guys making videos from nothing is always fascinating, even more so when the team is full of different characters and energy ❤️☺️
This is why MKBHD is such a clutch production studio, look at Jo seriously they take just the incredibly short intro alone
I looked at the title and the thumbnail with that "Ae" logo that I hate so much and I expected a boring or technical video tutorial. Love seeing behind the scenes of the sound! Fantastic work Ellis!
As someone who knows nearly nothing about this design process, I LOVED this video. What a cool project. Well done. Give this man a raise!

Ellis's face at the end - like a proud dad whose kid just came first in class! :D
I seriously love the new intro animation this year. Great job Michael! And beautiful sound mixes Ellis 👌
I see you with the Adam Young album art in the the background. Great album!

Damn that Cube to Chevron Logo using trim paths was smooth AF! More of Michael please!
More vlogs/commentary on graphic design. This might be my favorite video on the channel thus far.
Ellis just casually using the binaural ears as a microphone and the focal headphones is the biggest but the most subtle flex ever.
I'm so envious of designers like these who get to spend a lot of time on just one singular thing like this and make it REALLY good. Super fuckin good work! The kind of "locking into place" part of it is SO damn satisfying!
So cool to have this look at Michael and Ellis' creative process! Absolute pros
YES!! I love seeing the process of making intros like this, especially have done them in the past 🔥
I hope to see more from Michael! I could watch him for hours!
dang, I would have never thought michael had never done a vlog like this... his presentation was effortlessly charismatic
Happy to see Michael
aight i need more Michael
this was one of the most enjoyable studio vids for me as a designer 👌
had this bookmarked a while so i can sit and actually watch this. love to see another animator bring things to life. impressed by how a sound designer can take things to another level. cheers.
As someone that works a with animations every now or then, this is really cool to watch.
aside from the animation process, as an SF native it was so nice to see you walk through the city!
This is a inspiration for me to work hard and be creative at my job. Good stuff... Loved every single video that you guys make
What a great intro, what a great video!! Big ups and high-fives to Michael for taking us through this, from one motion designer to another. Cheers ✌🏼
Been waiting for this, well timed as I am on break.
“The Best” Tech UA-cam channel ever! I’m glad that I’ve learned English and I’m able to watch and understand MKBHD content.
Awesome work, the sound design piece was really cool to watch.
So cool to this the behind the scenes of a part so meticulously studied and created.

Great to see your process and progress in selfie + screen capture, this is a really good video style.
More design process videos like this would be awesome. Hella enjoyed seeing this and shared it with my design team.
This is not just tutorial video this is a nice vlog video
16:46 I have that same keyboard, keychron k2 v2. Very satisfying to type on and a good keyboard.
That was awesome seeing the whole thing from start to finish. And mad props to Michael for starting with actual printed designs for inspiration. Tech is great but paper (and pencil) is sweet! Favorite part - the reaction of the team!
Michael did such a great job explaining everything, hope to see him again soon!
This is definitely the best looking mkbhd team video ever, quality and color is insane
does micheal have his own channel? loved their workflow!
Loved this. The new logo animation was so good. We need every bit of animation's design process to be shared here
I so much enjoyed watching Michael. I really hope to see more of his creative process in the future.
The first time I saw that animation, I re-watched it about 20 times, in 0.25x
Phenomenal work! And so glad to see the BTS as well :)
My fav video from the channel yet !!!
Absolutely great animation & sound design!
