      Hello. It's too hot for kale right now where I live. If it's Your case too, keep it in shade during the hottes hours as it will not taste very good otherwise.
      Thank You very much ☺🍀

    Such helpful and relaxed videos, thank you🙂 What do you place around the bottom of the plant? Is it cardboard, carpet or something else?

      Hello. Those are cabbage collars made from cardboard. To prevent root fly eggs from hatching.
      Thank You very much ☺🍀

    Where do you put it to germinate? Any heat mats or grow lights and what is that cardboard for

    • @Liap
      @Liap  2 місяці тому

      Until the seeds germinate they are either indoors or outdoors in shade. No heat mats no grow lights. The cardboard works as cabbage collar, it prevents root fly eggs from hatching.

    I'm not sure what the cabbage collar is for but the way you've planted the seedlings looks great! Are the spruce shavings to retain moisture and repel pests?

    • @Liap
      @Liap  5 місяців тому +5

      Hello. The purpose of cabbage collar is to prevent root fly eggs from hatching.
      Yes, the spruce shavings serve as mulch, helping the soil to retain moisture and maintain more stable temperature.
      Thank You very much 😊🍀

      @@Liap How cool! I'm going to try growing cabbage as a fall crop for the first time. I don't know if root flies are an issue in my area but now I can follow your design and make some collars just in case. Thanks for sharing!!
