Hey man. You helped me pass my finals last year. I am once again coming back for your
help hahahaha.
Yeah recently my bun was 50. I'm going in for a gastric sleeve operation.
Before I took the test and made sure I drank a lot of water that day I did have some Greek yogurt and cottage cheese couple hours before the test.
All my other levels in my creatine levels are okay both creatines were at the top of the green but not over.
A couple of months ago my bun was only 36, now it's 50.
I'm so frightened I am on a liver shrinking diet right now where I'm having protein shakes and vegetables and things like that I don't know if the extra protein that I just started two or three days ago before my liver function test caused my bun to go up.
I am communicating with my doctor right now but I thought I'd get other opinions.
I don't have any pain in my kidneys I don't think I've ever had any pain.
Thank you so much
How are you doing? Did you get an answer to your elevated BUN?
When BUN goes down( from highs) does it mean Renal function has improved or is improving?
Most excellent explanation. Thank you so much!
Great video. Could you possibly do one on creatinine?
Thanks Aaron . . . that's in the works!

LOVE this channel! Thank you so much for posting these videos!
Very helpful video ⭐️⭐️
Thank you for this video!
If, BUN is increased. Then how to control this naturally ?
Pet peeve: Educators shouldn’t use acronyms without telling us what they stand for! What is CHF and MI? I’m not a nursing student but I have CKD (chronic kidney disease). You see how I did that? Thanks!!
Congestive Heart Failure and Myocardial Infarction
My BUN levels are usually low ranging from 4-6 on a scale of 7-26. How do I increase it?
Definitely go see a doctor so you can get an accurate answer but from what I have read, low levels can be from not enough protein.
Hey, I’m dealing with the exact same results. 4-7. Did you find anything out?!
Same 6.
Please tell me what you are doing. Did you have stomach or back pains?
This was very helpful. Thank u!
Why do we say blood urea nitrogen instead of just blood urea levels?
If one has Punctate Parenchymal Calcifications, usually where is the calcification located? Cortex, medulla or where?
Thank you.
Thanks for the video
What happen to the nitrogen? Only urea excreted? Great video!
My BUN is 4 ,how can I increase my BUN ?
Thx
Skip to sound 8:08 min into it for potential causes of low BUN.
(Seems to be like eating more protein could be a solution?)

BUN ?
Pls check your liver.
Liver damaged will cause problem for BUN.
My BUN is doing good now.
I am happy.
That’s where my BUN levels usually are around 4

So low , I know how to increase my BUN .
so what they give you medication for low bun
So what do I do
I watched 6 minutes of this before I realize it's more about kidney anatomy than the BUN which is a biomedical term. I expected a biomedical explanation. Nursing videos have been pretty okay for me as a medicine student so far but this one was way below what I need to learn about the BUN.
+Mathematics thanks for watching . . . as video title states the video cover What is BUN What it means, what raises it, what lowers it, and assessment . . enjoy your journey
Maybe because this is a video on a nursing channel lol.

Mine 28 and feel so bad , what to do?
My doctor said " if your back hurts, please come back as soon as you can" like why?? Is it really Bad ?? 😶
Thanks .

My BUN is always really low but I require a low protein diet because of a urea cycle disorder. I swear I have to explain this every time I get my levels checked. I wish there were more education about UCDs in healthcare training! All rare conditions need more attention in training because everyone acts like it’s rare so you’ll probably never see it. But what about when they do see it?! So many times I had to tell them what to do! And when you are sick and barely conscious it’s incredibly difficult to think clearly and communicate articulately to get what you need at that moment! And nowadays everyone seems to immediately think that your blood glucose is low and they always want to give you some protein to help keep your glucose levels up. 🤦🏻♀️
Hey Jae! Thank you for sharing. The last time I had my panels ran my bun and bun/creatinine ration was at a 6 which is a bit low. My Creatinine was in normal range and my GFR was at 82. I’m still confused as to why my bun(s) are low. I’ll do more research on UCD. Thank you again!
I will add that I stopped eating meat in may so that may have something to do with it.
Does this make you have swelling in your face when you’re not feeling well? Because my daughter has many health problems and this is one but I’m trying to find out what is making her eye have swelling under them when she doesn’t feel well? Her levels this time was a 7.
So....my results were 22. Should I be concerned?

thanks!
Is an BUN 14.000 high?
Although I am still a high school biology student, which I am completely unfamiliar with the terms used but this video is really informative and it really helped me a lot. May I ask what are the functions of Bowman's capsule, the cortex, the medulla, the nephrons, the pelvis (connected to kidney), Loop of Henle, Glommerulus. Thank you!
Plus, why dehydration increases BUN? Thanks!
+Sara Ho with dehydration you will have a decrease in blood supply to the kidneys which will causes an elevated BUN
+Sara Ho this would be another couple videos . . . I can work on in the future. In the meantime heres a videos that discusses renal anatomy: ua-cam.com/video/7bpTiqe5R6c/v-deo.html
You can read a book called "Ira Fox". It´s a nice beginning.

Now I know why the nurse smiled when I called it a "Bun" hehe
Spy Bug Hahaha . . .thanks for sharing . . . Hey that's why I shared. I did the same thing and my clinical instructor went off on me!
this video is very quiet. i couldn't hear it very well even with everything turned up all the way.
Ben Donahower hmm sorry about that . . . seems to be working fine on my end. check out the other videos too see if they are working better for you
yep, also watched the creatinine one and that seems to be a lot better... very informative stuff :) even more informative when i can hear it well :)
Is a bun level of 25 too high?
I have a BUN of 8 (9 to 20 normal range).
I am a 63 yr old man, any suggestions?
Same and I’m a 29 year old woman
Mine is always flagged low as well. Dehydration can cause this.
@@cicibelarus1916 mine are usually below the marker too, I drink a lot of water I would think, but I stay dehydrated according to getting blood work done..
@@cicibelarus1916 overhydration makes it low. Dehydration makes it high.

What happens to nitrogen?
Great Question!
I had the same thing in mind
Do people call it “bun” or “b-u-n”?
B-U-N
or if you are on a high protein diet....
Speak up!
All I know is my anaconda don't want none.
waste of time ! why stretch your story so much ?
Have a hard time hearing you.
the handwriting tho!! :-(
Find a meaning cause to bitch about...
I have Dysgraphia[look it up], we can't help having horrific handwriting.
Thank you
