- In 1985 the owner of KFSN-TV, Capital Cities Communications, shocked the broadcast industry by purchasing the much larger ABC network. Cap Cities owned stations, ABC owned stations and between them they were over the FCC ownership cap at the time. Some smaller markets such as Buffalo, NY were shed by the new company, but then-CBS affiliate KFSN in Fresno, CA was retained by the new company making the station ABC's smallest O&O (Owned and operated) station. KFSN retains this distinction today after ABC divested stations in Toledo, OH and Flint, MI they purchased in the 1990s.
To kick off the new network on Channel 30, and their status as a network owned station, KFSN pre-empted the last evening of CBS programming they were slated to air before making the switch in favor of repeating the 1981 3-hour premiere episode of ABC's popular series "Dynasty". These promos are promoting the repeat airing of the Dynasty movie.
