Dick Dale.... I can't believe that only 23 people, including me have upvoted this video! This man was a trailblazer, and put on a tremendous live show, always!
You know people who follow Grateful Dead are Dead Heads ? Well.. Us Dick Dale followers are called DickHeads And damn happy and proud To see such a talented and humble man as he was His shoes will never be filled again. Keep playing with Jimi Hendrix in Heaven, Dear Sir ! ! !
Dicks dad talked the owners of the closed Rendezvous ballroom in Newport Beach California into opening it up Friday and Saturday evenings so we teenagers would have a place to go and hang out. I think it was like 50 cents to get in and not much of a dress code. We would go and dance to The Beach Boys, Jan and dean, the righteous brothers and of course Dick and his band. It was a fabulous time for us. I came back from combat in Vietnam to find that it had burned to the ground while I was gone. So sad. There is a bronze plague on the sidewalk the commemorates “the site of the Rendezvous Ballroom”.
Read a lot about Dick Dale recently. Always thought this piece of music sounded Middle Eastern. Well, Dick was Lebanese & Polish. He learned to play Middle Eastern Instruments.
Have you seen Paul David's vid, EPIC RIFFS | World's Most Iconic Riff - (I played it wrong) on UA-cam? Even if you don't play the guitar it is definitely worth a look. Turns out it has this Middle Eastern percussive aspect to the guitaring and most people don't play it that way. This is why no one could really make it sound like Dick Dale.
I saw the Dickster several times at the Cabooze in Minneapolis. I knew what to expect and enjoyed watching the reaction of the crowd when he fired up. Memories.
This song was done by The ventures in the 60s I am thinking. Also Duane Eddy did it. Amazing how ine song got around. I bet John 5 has a version of it.
You know what gets me? All of those big shot musicians who claimed to have been influenced by him and how he was there hero, yet no one lifted a goddam finger to help Him out when he had to go on tour to pay for his medical bill because he was gravely ill... Hats off to those bunch of hooray henry's....

Hah! I gave him that tidbit in 1989 after a show in Portland. He got such a kick out of that, that he started using it and made shirts.

Блестящее исполнение лиричной греческой песни👏

Она не греческая. Просто грек её первый записал, когда люди научились делать музыкальные записи.
