excellent tips for this MiG-17PF, I actually stop the build in order to get a strategy to joint the halves and insert the cockpit, now you solved my problem!!! thanks a lot
Nice one....I think it's a common problem of short run kits...they produce a 1/72 instrument panel, but forget their fuselage walls are massively too thick!
Have you ever built the old KP version of the MiG 17PF? I'm building on one now, I'm scratchbuilding the air intake ducting from the nose to the engine.
@@MMScaleModels it sure is. I can't find many good references to reproduce the ducting, I'm surmising what it should look like, based off of an image of a nose upgrade that someone is producing in resin. It's a learning experience for sure.
I have been building models since 1963. Have seen all types of quality and fits. I've come to enjoy the models that need work. Like I've heard, anybody can make a Tamiya kit look good.
Good vid on how to overcome the many problems with this kit. However, disagree that engineering is overrated. Who wants to buy a kit that doesn't go together well and that requires substantial modifications just to do basic assembly. I like to reserve my mod work for improving the overall model - not correcting major flaws from the mfg. Working at 72 scale you have to have the patience of a saint. Understand it is an old kit, but even more modern kits have tons of fitment issues.
Gluing a model together is the best thing you can do on a cold winter Day🤠
Absolutely!
Metodi, some kits are just designed to try your patience! Congratulations on your perseverance! 🤪 All the best from NZ
Yup, just have to put your head down and plow trough it :)
*Little kit requires so much work but it's so satisfying to see the final result! Great job MM S M!*
Yes it is very positive experience when it goes the right way.
Nice attention to detail 😊, MM.
Thanks mate 👍
Excellent work, thank you for sharing your techniques with us..
Thank you! Cheers!

Well, i am very happy my build will help yours!

Yeah, kinda run out of patience or something.
Great work my friend, looking forward to the next update, best regards from Australia.
Thanks mate, hope it behaves 😀
ahh yes this old MiG... Hope u had fun making it.
It's all kinds of fun 😄
@@MMScaleModels as I mentioned earlier i do think it's kinda mazohism... Well, Amodel traumatized me too strong bruh )

No, I haven't. Cool that's a big task :)

Probably the most important part is the learning. But surely it looks much better with the ducts in place.
@@MMScaleModels It's a task, but an enjoyable one.
Proof right here that no model is irremediable when in the skilled hands of an expert.
Yeah, one can learn so much building such kits.

I would like to build a good one every now and then though:)
Not the best model kit but you are making up for the mfg.s shortcomings - nice details 👍 🏁🙂
Thanks mate !

I agree with you mate, the title is more of a joke or a sarcastic remark on the kit. I myself love a good kit as much as anyone else.
For Everest the best ! Just a genious
Thanks mate 👍

I would suggest you moderate your comments and stay on the polite sid3 of things.
Seems like a painful build 😅
I have accepted my faith and it does not feel bad at all :)
@@MMScaleModels lol you are a true hero 😅
