My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

Maybe they have a Genetic Fat gaining issue. I know I do it’s insulin resistance. I am following a diet today of 1 egg and 1 piece of roast beef like a deli thin slice and I also had a half thumb size piece of cheese and this is all I will eat for the whole day only water nothing else. And what I ate may be too much for me to lose weight as I hold on to weight. I feel so guilty for what I ate I should have had only half of that or just. Papaya and avacado with Sauerkraut. That will be my meal tmmr and that’s it for that day. Like I said it’s soo hard for me to lose weight

FYI as a healthcare professional, don’t ask questions that allows the patient to say “no”. Just like with a child, limited choices like “Do you want to do upper body exercises first or last?” This allows the patient to have some control and still gets the job done.

With Marla, and I think that it's a fairly obvious observation, she needs a little more motivation after the difficult trip to Houston. Maybe she would be a little more receptive to Physical Therapy if she were offered a little snack. A couple Honey Buns, a few Zinger Cakes, a few Hostess Snack Pies (Chocolate is my favorite), a box of Nutty Bars and a couple liters of Generic Brand Orange Soda would give her the boost that she needs a possibly correct a difficult low blood sugar condition. Why would that be such a big deal ?

If I was her daughter I would only give her what’s healthy to eat. I’d ignore any verbal abuse and she obviously can’t do anything physical to harm her. She is completely dependent on her daughter so if she doesn’t treat her nice the daughter can ignore her and not take care of her. She’d have to cave in if she wanted to be fed or bathed. It’s called tough love.

Her daughter has had a lifetime of being trained to eat bad food in unhealthy portions. It's hardly her fault, but I'm hoping this experience taught her a valuable lesson.
Plus, I think there are enough parents out there willing to sabotage their own children's health and prospects just enough to turn them into carers.
Similarly, partners that are unstable, jealous and fearful of being dumped will also feed up their significant other to make unattractive to other wo/men, so they won't have to face the risk of finding themselves alone. A want for dependency. (I had an ex that did that to me, after doing the same to his previous girlfriend. Fortunately, I saw what he was doing and got rid of him. But I have since seen evidence of others doing the same to their spouses).

As a parent it infuriates me to see parents putting their children into positions of a care giver. I've fought weight issues my whole life and the one thing I've learned is that my weight is 100% MY fault. Even if someone else makes the food it is ME who chooses to eat it out not. I've fought, and beaten, other addictions and unless you are willing to suffer you'll never beat them. Life isn't about always feeling pleasure and joy. Often times there's going to be stuff that really sucks and you have to learn to push through it.

I've had weight loss surgery and can say it's painful in the recovery
The gas pain is intense, but the way to relieve the pain is to walk around so the body works it off. (Gas pain is filling the abdominal cavity with gas to have more room to move while operating, the pain sits in your shoulders and chest) I had a room-mate in hospital and we would walk the corridors together and made friends with a guy in another room who would join us on our walks. Weightloss surgery is just a tool to help change the way you eat and treat your body
