Here in the prov. of Qc, Canada. You fire someone for incompetence and they get backed up by the unions and, trust me, even if the union know that the person is an incompetent, they will protect them and will WIN, after all they get money from that incompetant. If there's no unions, they can always go to the tribunal administratif du travail (translate as administrative labor court; tho I'm not sure they use that name in English) and most of the time they win. For them to lose, they need to have done something REALLY bad (more or less something that would get them sent to prison).
Nah, this was no apology. Not even close. The minimum acceptable course of action for GoDot would be to: 1. Reverse every single block with no exceptions. 2. Fire the community manager and everyone who helped them. 3. Create new guidelines for moderation and community management to prevent this from ever happening again. 4. Make a statement starting with an apology for what happened, followed by a clear affirmation that GoDot is neutral and apolitical, and will remain so for all time. Anything less than this should not be accepted. And if they do not do this then all the mentally healthy people should just fork the project, build a new community, and establish a culture of vigilance and gatekeeping to keep the crazies away. Because if GoDot is so far gone that they can't even muster a proper apology then they are a lost cause.
I'll give a simple cheat sheet for all of these big megacorpos (primarily went by this rule when Helldivers 2's CMs went full r3333t4rd): If the CMs who do stuff like this aren't fired within a week tops, then assume the company is corrupted. Best thing to do at that point is give them no more money at minimum (and for some of them like Bungie, I don't even give them my playtime hours anymore). The only real issue with my way of handling stuff like this at this point is not enough "normies" follow this same sort of rule. Which means that the companies basically just keep going along no matter what.
If you have to use that form that they link to dispute, remember to use a throwaway email or they'll collect your PID. There's a lot that they can gain just by getting your Twitter Handle and Email. Those two help a lot as fingerprints for cyberstalking purposes. For instance, resumes tend to include personal email addresses. And handle names tend to be used on other social media sites. The form is a tool to link the two. Seriously, it's not worth telling them who you are and where to find you. As a sidenote, I think this is a phishing attempt by the Godot higher-ups. It's suspicious that they don't use the official dispute mechanism and instead use a Google Forms to gather extra information like email, last post, and reason to unban. To be unbanned, you wouldn't normally need those as X and Github have your email already and security teams don't trust self-reported information. So this also makes the dispute form a walk of shame. A further note, I didn't spot this attempt. That would be Grummz. I'm just here to bring awareness to it and adding details.

I've been watching videos about the situation and wanted to share an experience I had some time ago. I'm working on becoming a game developer so I can create my own dream game, and Godot is one of the engines I'm working with. I managed to get in contact with someone who was willing to help me learn more outside of relying on Tutorials to guide me through everything. It started off well, but as I chatted with them more, they started asking me questions about my political views. I told them I'm not into politics, and they started acting a lot more toxic, eventually leading to them blocking me. Having had firsthand experience attempting to talk with someone like that community manager, I can tell you it's impossible to get some people to separate their political views from even simple conversations. It's very demoralizing having to endure the extremely toxic behavior of these individuals. It's put me back on having the energy and drive to create my game.
Remember that when they realize they're gonna lose money over this, THEN they issue "apologies". Otherwise they'd keep doing this as long as they breath.

We firmly stand by our mission to keep our community spaces free from hate discrimination, and other toxic behaviours. Says the foundation that defends a toxic ideological power hungry crazy for a community manager, Cool story Bro.
Not really the "whole" reason. The "whole" reason includes the fact that they were free and open source, unlike Unity, and the engine had superior and more intuitive 2D tools, and was generally a more optimal choice for anyone working on smaller projects or things that didn't require as much graphical power. Personally I used Godot to package traditional books in a new way, so I could sell my books on Steam - about a year before the Unity controversy, and several years after I abandoned Unity already due to its limitations.
When justified anger is called harassment. These people are actually cowards with zero sense of accountability. Everything is their fault and response to them is justified.

At this point if you're a dev who is relying on permission from these people(in order to use GoDoT), your game had better be woke as hell or you're in serious danger of needing to port your game to a different engine.
You don't understand Open Source, you can literally make a small mustache man game and there is nothing they can do about it. Sure it sucks that the people involved in developing it are like this but still.
I think you're right but I also want to clarify that everyone can use godot openly. You don't need permission from them in any way to use the engine..

What is it gonna to take for these companies to friggin learn
I just dont understand what's so difficult about walking into the office and telling people 'you're fired'. Ive had to do it before...its really not hard when the person is damaging your reputation.
They can't fire the woke it seems.
It depends where you live. Some countries/states have seriously overblown employment protection, therefore firing someone can be an extreme hassle.
Cause most of the people in charge agree with these lunatics, or are cowards.
Not gonna lie. Wokot fits them more.
Rename your game engine to that, and cater to the modern audience.
Nah, this was no apology. Not even close.
The minimum acceptable course of action for GoDot would be to:
Problem is that devs are friends with community managers, and 200% woke, so they are agree with every word and every ban.
There is no such thing keeping community spaces "Free from discrimination" because you have to discriminate against people who believe that biological sex is a real thing which can't be changed on a whim.

That's not an apology. Dislike for misleading title.
it's over for godot, the rot has taken hold
Good enough, now fire her
Yup.
Wait. Don't they know there's "consequences" for their words? Surely, they know...
"we're sorry you were offended by our actions....not sorry about the actions itself"
Until they fire all the activists, their apology means nothing. Corporations need to know who they’re meant to be catering to.
I'm so glad I never used this hot garbage. And people have the nerve to bash Unity…
Remember that when they realize they're gonna lose money over this, THEN they issue "apologies". Otherwise they'd keep doing this as long as they breath.

I'm pretty sure they had to make a fake apology because they were being threatened with getting fired for mismanagement.
We firmly stand by our mission to keep our community spaces free from hate discrimination, and other toxic behaviours. Says the foundation that defends a toxic ideological power hungry crazy for a community manager, Cool story Bro.
it's ironic that the whole reason that they rose to such prominence is cuz unity messed up
Not really the "whole" reason.
Great so what's left for an engine that isn't like this? I've invested so much time into Godot and this all makes me sick.
