This definitely looks like what GRID 2019 should've been from the very beginning. I'm hoping the handling has made considerable improvements. The Drive to Survive approach for the career mode definitely looks interesting and a step up from 2019 career mode, which I really disliked. One thing I really liked is the Suzuka event. I like to see more racing games allow you to practice or do time attack in an empty track like what you see in Gran Turismo Sport. Will definitely keep my eye out on this one. looks promising.
@@ISirSmoke see now that does worry me because I disliked how floaty and more prone to understeer the 2019 GRID was. The worst experience was how bad the handling was with the Ford GT40.

What I'm wondering is whether or not we will have button prompts to attain race information like current race position, rival position, vehicle condition, etc. I like playing racing games in FP view without the HUD so that would tie my entire experience together.
I'm honestly impressed this game wasn't even on my radar but liking the look of it. And the live action cuts scenes I miss that from older games looking forward to playing
This gives me major Drive to Survive vibes and I really quite like it! I really hope it won’t be a half-asssed attempt like Braking Point (it was only a few hours long and no extra chapters after the game was released) and it will be a pretty long story mode like it’s gonna take up to 20-25 hours to finish. Now I get it racing game stories don’t necessarily need to be _that_ long, but I sometimes love when my favorite genre which is racing games, comes into movie like story modes which can take a really long time to beat. Also please change the UI before launch. It looks exactly the same from GRID 2019.

Yeah, I don't have high hopes for this. I mean, F1's story mode felt rigid enough, and I think that makes sense if Codemasters isn't even capable of accounting for the fact that the racer you were supposed to finish ahead of was left in your dust less than 30 seconds in the race. Also, would it really kill a racing game developer to tackle a story that doesn't involve the ultra-unique concept of a no-name racer climbing to the top of the ranks. Jesus...just make a story that happens to be adjacent to cars and racing and go for something more dramatic.

Yeah the wiper doesn't seem to wash the windscreen, I hope they gonna improve that (they already managed to have like wiper wash detail in Dirt 2, so it wouldn't be hard to do again right?)
This game has everything to go right, from what I've seen the gameplay, the background of the screen and the scenery are fast in movements, the gameplay is easy in the part of keeping the car on the track without losing control, including the easy-to-maintain curve drift the car in the curve without losing the high speed exception, it is as if the game were a simulator and at the same time an arcade, because what gives pleasure is having an arcade-style game, that gameplay that gives you pleasure to play in not being difficult while maintaining high screen speed. Summarizing from what I observed in this gameplay, it follows a NEED FOR SPEED (RIVALS) style in the style of a ferrari f12 car. And speaking of NEED FOR SPEED RIVALS, this game is from 2013, apart from the bugs it's the best cat and mouse game, if electronic arts is smart and creates a NEED FOR SPEED RIVALS style game, with the same gameplay, it won't be for anyone, it will be the newest competitor in the arcade-style racing game market. Understand one thing GRAN TURISMO can be beautiful in the graphics, but its gameplay of keeping the car on the track in a curve with a half-slow screen is shit, garbage, it doesn't even have drift and if it has it's very bad to keep the car skidding hitting walls a lot. That's why I play NEED FOR SPEED EIVALS to this day, but this time I'm going to give this GRID LEGENDS release a vote of confidence.
The game has a "Drive to survive" type carreer mode. There is team management, nemesis system, random crashes that elevate the feel of a race, driveclub esque rain effects, camera that does not feel like it has been attached to the car by a stick, proper music for races that reminds me "Split Second". So if you want to play a racing game with personality, you will play this. If you want "bland and banal racing", play Forza.

I want handing, camera control, and good AI. Story, motion captured drama and tightly edited youtube drama? No. My driving should speak for my success, not some scripted drivel. You're way off the mark, I'm tired of racing games treating me like some edge lord cool guy and calling me dude (Forza Horizon 5, I'm looking at you). The game needs to speak for its self. PS2 era and early PS3/360 nailed this, but dialogue has become so integral to modern racing games for some reason.

I really appreciate this current progress of GRID Legends. Really loves the feel and the story. But I kinda mixed for a decision to portraying McKane as a jerk, really different from McKane I know from ToCa Race Driver. Anyway, I wish this game matched or even exceed my expectation. Story mode on track based racing game is kinda rare! I missed a good racing story since R: Racing Evolution.
The old mckane might’ve been more humble due to being less successful than he is now. When you become more successful and dominant, a lot of the humility diminishes.

This looks cool, but i'm gonna be spending more time on Custom Race mode than others, I love having a ton of options to create my own events and just have fun in the world of motorsports! I hope the next first look episode will focus on that.
I'd love to see the in-depth team management from GRID 2008 return, but I'm afraid that's not the case. I seriously don't understand why on Earth they moved away from that and refuse to go back. In F1 2020 they introduced My Team, which is basically the same thing, and it was a major success on all fronts. The players love it, the press loves it, sales are through the roof. Clearly that's what players want and not just linear path of an event after event. It's precisely the reason the first game is still the best in the series, I don't get how Codemasters can't see that, it's so obvious.
The cars turning somehow over the middle point, front wheels almost static, rear wheels sliding sideways. WTH? Ah... mixed reality story mode, there goes the development money...

Lap 1 of London Race. Driver 22 in 7th place. Race Engineer says - OK, lets pick it up and try and push closer to Vega (this is the driver you have to beat) Vega is already further down the order, as he was passed earlier in the lap. So is Driver 22 supposed to slow down to let Vega catch up? Driver 22 then passes McLeaod, Slade, Kapoor, and Martin, move in to 2nd behind Estrada. Vega nowhere to be seen. Think the race engineer needs more work. Telling you to push to catch someone you already passed earlier in the lap. Looks like a game to consider when it comes free to PS+

As a Grid fan... (To be fair I'm very biased towards Codemasters probably because they made racing games that I loved during my childhood, even though a lot of their newer stuff are pretty mediocre) Even though I'm weirdly looking forward to this, I feel like the attention to detail in this is really lacking compared to their older stuff. The lightning could've been done much better in my opinion, like something you'd expect when racing through a storm in Drive Club or even Dirt 5. Those really made some races more epic than it actually was. I'm not sure how I feel about the music that seems to play in EVERY race from what I have seen so far. What I loved about the older Grid games was that they saved it for the really important events, which meant that whenever the music kicked in when the race started (Especially in the first Grid) it really caught me off guard in such a good way. Hopefully on more important races such as a final showdown will have it so that a more intense, unique dynamic soundtrack plays to really get the heart racing like it did in the older games. I do see the potential in this series and maybe this will end up being decent... But from what I've seen from this game so far, I'm a bit skeptical.

This is probably an option, as GRID 2019 had it. You can also remove driver names from above the vehicles in that too

Nfs Shift unleashed 2 had those and weren't distracting at all. You need to focus on the road, rpm and nothing else.

Online Multiplayer with superior matchmaking system should be your main focus for this game

there will probably be some car classes with slightly modified street cars, like grid 2019. a couple are in the officially confirmed car list.

The old mckane might’ve been more humble due to being less successful than he is now. When you become more successful and dominant, a lot of the humility diminishes.
Nathan McKane and Ryan McKane are different people. Relation doesn’t inherently mean someone will be fully alike to someone else.

Erm it looks exactly the same as 2019 grid? Almost identical! Get rid of auto revving while synchronising on the grid and make tuning possible inbetween races in online lobbies! Why you cant do this anyway us mystifying

Not everyone have a wheel, and not everyone want to have one. But PlayStation console owners can play it with controllers like with wheel. Use that future please. GT Sport and GT 7 will have this feature

This looks cool, but i'm gonna be spending more time on Custom Race mode than others, I love having a ton of options to create my own events and just have fun in the world of motorsports! I hope the next first look episode will focus on that.

I'd love to see the in-depth team management from GRID 2008 return, but I'm afraid that's not the case. I seriously don't understand why on Earth they moved away from that and refuse to go back. In F1 2020 they introduced My Team, which is basically the same thing, and it was a major success on all fronts. The players love it, the press loves it, sales are through the roof. Clearly that's what players want and not just linear path of an event after event. It's precisely the reason the first game is still the best in the series, I don't get how Codemasters can't see that, it's so obvious.

The cars turning somehow over the middle point, front wheels almost static, rear wheels sliding sideways. WTH? Ah... mixed reality story mode, there goes the development money...
To say that I'm ecstatic to see Bathurst back into the fold after so long is an understatement.

I want to know if you can race with Nathan McKane as your teammate. Or betray Seneca and jump ship to Voltz or Ravenwest.
Lap 1 of London Race. Driver 22 in 7th place.
Race Engineer says - OK, lets pick it up and try and push closer to Vega (this is the driver you have to beat)
Vega is already further down the order, as he was passed earlier in the lap. So is Driver 22 supposed to slow down to let Vega catch up?
Driver 22 then passes McLeaod, Slade, Kapoor, and Martin, move in to 2nd behind Estrada. Vega nowhere to be seen.
Think the race engineer needs more work. Telling you to push to catch someone you already passed earlier in the lap.
Looks like a game to consider when it comes free to PS+

As a Grid fan... (To be fair I'm very biased towards Codemasters probably because they made racing games that I loved during my childhood, even though a lot of their newer stuff are pretty mediocre) Even though I'm weirdly looking forward to this, I feel like the attention to detail in this is really lacking compared to their older stuff. The lightning could've been done much better in my opinion, like something you'd expect when racing through a storm in Drive Club or even Dirt 5. Those really made some races more epic than it actually was.
I'm not sure how I feel about the music that seems to play in EVERY race from what I have seen so far. What I loved about the older Grid games was that they saved it for the really important events, which meant that whenever the music kicked in when the race started (Especially in the first Grid) it really caught me off guard in such a good way.
Hopefully on more important races such as a final showdown will have it so that a more intense, unique dynamic soundtrack plays to really get the heart racing like it did in the older games. I do see the potential in this series and maybe this will end up being decent... But from what I've seen from this game so far, I'm a bit skeptical.
